I used high end headphones when you did the sound test and noticed that the SONOS speaker sounds super clear, while the JBL speaker is a little muffled, like it sounds like if you put something over it.

The Sonos sound is waaaaaay better. The bass and highs are so much better mixed and smoother. The move is the clear winner in terms of sound. So if you want the best of the best the Sonos is the right one, but the xtreme 2 is very good for the price
You wish that to justify your outlay. Same with everything. When you spunk a ton of money on something you have to convince yourself everything before it is rubbish even though it certainly isn't.
@@booshallmighty it is overpriced but it's noticeably better than the jbl in this comparison. Even if you use some mediocre headphones the difference can be heard.
Haha we recently did this test at my boys house and Sonos just had something about it that makes for a much better listening experience. I feel like even at full volume the sound is just as clear and with no distortion whatsoever. The jbl on the other hand while still a great speaker on its own merits had some slight clipping as the volume hit its peak. For how much music i listen to and the wide range that i listen to the sonos is just worth the extra money, i mean being an audiophile never was about getting the best bang for your buck imo, it’s simply about what sounds better and the sonos wins any day.
Patrick I agree fully. I’m not a Sonos fan whatsoever. Albeit I now have the Sonos Arc, Gen 3 Sub and One SL’s. The Move in particular has an excellent sound profile that blows the JBL Xtreme 2 away. I’ve owned them both. I went with the Sonos after putting them side by side.
Sonically, these two aren’t even close. The Move runs laps around the Xtreme 2. For me personally, sound quality is #1 when buying a speaker. $50 premium is worth it for a device I’ll have for years to come.
They are in different leagues, Sonos is of medium and high range and competes with Bose and HomePod among other high quality speakers, JBL is a mid-range speaker that offers a lot at a good price, but they are not comparable.
the bass won’t go up at max volume on the move bc it has a dsp so it won’t distort. it will play lower than the xtreme up to 85db then will only play down to about 100hz
June 2021 you can buy the extreme 2 for £150 in the uk (£400 for the Sonos). Not really comparable to me. Both speakers are great and I would definitely choose the Sonos hands down but it does cost well over twice as much. Nice video thanks.
@@ExposedRoot Yep! Can take out the old battery and put a new one in!! You can’t do that with the JBL. Plus the JBL doesn’t sound better nor does the Bass sound better than the Sonos.
Great review. The Sonos definitely sounds better to me, but it's so expensive I'd only buy it on sale (which it was for Black Friday). It also looks better and has a much more comprehensive ecosystem... On the other hand, their software can be a bit cumbersome/janky, but that is relieved a bit by this unit having a Bluetooth option. Also, I wouldn't bother taking it on trips, for that I'd probably get something small like a MINIRIG 3 or one of the Bose Soundlinks; the Sonos Move seems like it's more for moving from room to room around the house, or out in the deck/yard near the house. They definitely have bigger spenders in mind for just that.

I’m still on the fence about the Sonos move 😭. I had the xtreme1 and I loved the sound to size ratio, but I got tired of the size itself. With the Sonos being heavier it’s just like ehhh... I don’t know
Why compare a mono speaker with a stereo one and jbl keeps its sound quality when the volume is at maximum, the bass decreases a bit. I had to choose between the two speakers and jbl is much better in all respects.
Prob one best reviews I've watched, and I've watched soooooo many. Completely agree, the Sonos does sound cleaner, but the JBL puts out more than good enough sound and there isn't many speakers better. For 400 pounds I expect the sonos to have much better battery life. Personally I only play music at max volume and I'm always on the go so im happy to save a few hundred and sacrifice a small amount of sound quality to gain longer usage, additionally the Xtreme 2 also plays 40watts when plugged in Vs 20watts when running on the bat.
I have 2 Xtreme’s linked together but the lack of a 3.5mm audio port on Sonos prevents me upgrading ! It would be fine for playing music but for visual (I link to my tv in garden bar) there would be a delay and so out of sync with vision .. shame
I swapped my JBL Xtreme for the JBL Xtreme 2 today as my first one started buzzing weirdly , anyways I got to change it over for free .. I think the Xtreme sounded more Bassy than the 2 .. i red a lot about the sonos but your review def put me off it .. I think the JBL is better , I just wish they hadnt taken the 2 charge points off the JBL in the upgrade as if your on the beach with a mate it was v handy to charge ya phones off of it now only one of you can do that .. love your little catch phrase , ''yes you heard me right '' Great reviews from you , keep up the excellent work ..
Thank you for your thorough review, I think the Sonos Move has a better sound quality. It also integrates nicely into a system when you aquire more speakers because it works with wi-fi.
I dono man. I just bought the Sonos Move and it does last me 10 hours and the bass is amazing. Maybe they upgraded their drivers to perform better since this upload?
thanks for this video,,I bought a sonos move a month ago,ıt s really very good and so natural sound but so expencive.Im a teacher ın Turkey and I paid a salary for this , we are not lucky about teknology because so expencive and we are paying to much tax, you can be happy maybe about prıce , I thınk so nobody wont pay a salary :) thanks again
Guys if you want something louder and with more bass and same category as those, get the teufel rockster cross! If you want to spend 400 euro, you better get a vifa oslo which destroys them both. But trust me a teufel, rockster cross for 250 euro is the, best for its price. Louder and more bass than both of them
@@ciaranstorey6233 its just a small difference in size. Like some Cm in width and maybe 2cm higher. You can compare it by watching youtube videos where both get compared or the official spec sheets on the respective websites.
I closed my eyes and just listen and difentely the sound on the Sonos Move was way clearer and punchy. About the battery i think they got a firmware that improves the battery to the 10 hours as they advertize
I think for sound quality he said the Sonos was better but if he were to go camping he’d prefer the JBL as it’s a bit more rugged and the battery life is much longer. But all in all, he chose the Sonos.
the SONOS sounds way more detailed and direct and more alive were the JBL sound flat and far away from u when it has music running .its like a night a day different u for sure get what u pay for when u go and buy a SONOS sound speaker.
I agree that the Sonos sound is much better than JBL. But Aren't you comparing two totally different things, the comparison should be among equally priced products. The Bass effect and direct sound, just feels opposite of what you explained. Was there something wrong while you recorded for posting?
