They stole the design of JVC's Kaboom box from the late 90's. I don't see JBL bluetooth speakers as worth the premium. If you spend way more the Electro Voice EV 8 looks compelling.
@@Ry-lx2kl its not even close to those cassete playersfrom jvc. Also Idk how you compare such an speaker to an pa ev8, they arent meant for the same thing.
@gtcreeper it's the same shape as the Kaboom box with the same passive radiator setup on the ends. I don't know how the JBL would stack up to the KaBoom box. The JVC's weren't exactly known for their sparkling highs. They were loud, but far from HiFi. As far as comparisons to an EV8. It's a comparison because if I were to consider spending $500 for this 105db JBL, then I'm surely going to look upmarket for alternatives. Thr EV8 is a battery-powered speaker that could blow away the JBL in both SPL and sound quality. Neither are exactly portable enough that I'd take on a hike.
@Ry-lx2kl Idk how much the xtreme 4 costs but the ev8 is 700$ where I live, for that price you can get an partybox 310 which has better sound quality. The loudness of the ev8 is its main plus, because it's an pa speaker. It doesn't blow any jbl, it's just louder. I prefer those type of speakers (like the ev8) which hit harder and don't have such low frequencies, but I don't get why we have to hate on jbl. The xtreme 4 is a cool speaker, and definitely didn't copy anything.
