I also bought one of these from banggood and for the price it is great. I like the fact that you can wall-mount it. Freeing up desk space for something else was the selling point for me. I do not remember seeing another station that you can wall-mount like this one. When you see how many have been sold on banggood, I am sure there will be more wall-mounted stations on the market in the future. Upgrading the stand though is a must. I bought a different stand than you did on banggood and I was happy that it also fit perfectly. I also think I bought the same extra tips that you did.

Oh, it's nice to see you trying out this little station. It actually proved to be quite adequate for what it's worth. I've been using it for almost half a year now with no major problems. But you're right, the station is too light and slippery if not mounted. And since it's a cheap-o, the cables are not silicone but PVC. So they will definitely drag the station around, if you just let it sit on a table. The other disappointment is that the station is saving your temperature settings, but doesn't save temperature units. So if you want Fahrenheits, you need to switch it every time. Other than that I have no complaints. The soldering iron is okay. It's quite comfortable actually. The handle doesn't get too hot even after half an hour of use. The hot air gun still works. 😃 I was as pleasantly surprised as you by its basic but decent build quality. All in all, there are a lot of better stations (Weller, Pace, Hakko), just not in this price range. I think that's what made it so popular.

Hi Darren, I like your video. I did not know that you could change the readout from C° to F°. Are there any more secret tip for this iron as I just killed my soldering side by pressing the control up and down buttons as I was turning it off and while the Air gun was cooling. Is there a reset Sequence or something as I have absolutely nothing on the Iron Side but the hot air gun works. Nothing inside looks burnt or exploded and of course there were no instructions with it. Could I have somehow switched it off?

Unfortunately it won't work. The transformer is non switching so you're stuck with the AC input it was designed for. You're underpowered by 110v at least so you won't have enough juice to solder.

If the device blows cool air and does not produce heat when powered on, it is because of a faulty or broken heating coil. The best fix for this problem is to open up the casing and replace the heating element. You can find replacement coils on eBay.

Great review - good to see these reviewed, made me think of when I was a kid way back in the 70's when there was nothing like this available in the affordable range, if it even existed at all then it was just the high end $$$ pro stuff which I couldnt have afforded anyway. All we had was the local radio shack just blocks away, even then the selections were limited to a couple three irons and the manual solder suckers - dont recall any such thing as a hot air station yet even at radio shack, unless I just dismissed them offhand due to cost. I also imagine this was because back then the majority of electronics were still through-hole design, I dont recall seeing anything with surface mount devices, at least not in things I was trying to fix. Amazing the capability an inexpensive station like this can give the average person. Really does seem like they could have included some kind of wire or other iron holder on the right side for a couple more bucks and im sure they figured on selling you one - but on the other hand this allows you to choose the type of iron holder you like that may well be more suitable to your liking.

It looks like an interesting soldering iron and hot-air station. It seems the normal price is about $60, but Banggood has it on sale for about $40. I wonder about the long term use of it; maybe a follow-up video might be good--a year from now. I like the compact design and wall-mountable; it might be great to save space on your bench. It appears smaller than either my soldering station or my hot-air station. What category of user should this be considered for--eg: dyi, hobbyist, enter-level, pro? I bought it for around $30 on sale on Aliexpress and have been using semiregularly for almost half a year now. It’s not that bad. I would say that it’s quite robust and durable for what it costs. And you can buy five 900-M tips for the price of just one T12 tip. But for $60 or so a T12 soldering station would probably be a better choice. And if you want a professional soldering station, then I think you should aim higher than $200.

Its definitely a hobby style soldering station..its built well but its by no means meant for production work or professional soldering applications. At this price its a steal and I'd get one just for the sheer usability. The tips cost next to nothing and the hot air gun is surprisingly well made. The spring coils in the heating element are of high quality and it will definitely last.

Yes, but they are uber expensive ... Generally speaking you want a separate desoldering station. The AOYUE 474A++ is a great unit, I'll be doing a review hopefully soon.

@@KeepOnTesting do you have model number or link on ebay of one of those stations with all three? just want to check out how it looks etc.. Hopefully the chinese brand like these makes one later at cheap price like this one. It would be good if there was desoldering attachment you can just plug into this soldering port of this station.. not sure if you can buy one.. do you know if you can? Desoldering is a necessary thing we may need to do from time to time.

@@KeepOnTesting i just checked on ebay for the Aoyue 474A++ and it is not cheap either + very high shipping cost (due to low of amount sellers)..and only has one functional purpose.. and will take up yet another space on the desk... Surely can't they make an desoldering attachment for this type of stations? Would save on desk space and cost.

I normally use Kapton tape but this was a sample board so I wasn't worried. You do need to circulate the 🔥 hot air nozzle to prevent excessive heat buildup on the surrounding components/ pcb.

There are hidden commands and actions that you can perform on this soldering iron but without instructions you would not know that these functions existed. To change the display from Centigrade to Fahrenheit is easy. From Switched Off, hold down the "-" & "+" of the iron side and switch on the iron power switch. The display will show ° C Press the "-" and the display will show F°. The display will return to Centigrade on restarting. To calibrate the display to the actual iron temperature you will need to measure the iron temperature and either add or subtract the difference to the display. To get this function up press both the "-" &"+" both together and the iron screen will display "0" "0" press either "-" or "+" to add or subtract to the display temperature. I hope this is useful to some people.

Brother, is this machine safe? I saw some videos that say it is not safe, but to make it safe, you have to do something for it, I don't know what it is, you might unscrew it and modify something simple, I don't know what it is because the person who said that was Russian and I don't know his language or the language of his writing, please, if you know something like that, tell me 😢

Great Review and Teardown! Thanks! However you didn't mention that the connectors are male, and without the "Dust Covers" on, one could get electrocuted or short out if something metal should hit them! This is a electrical hazard! Defiantly a Major 'CON' with this machine!

This is too cheap to be true, I received mine with warning label on package saying "Does not conform EU regulations". As you should notice in teardown, there is NO INSULATION between power supply and electronics, so some of those male pins of connectors are LIVE. Due to single pole switches, pins may be EXPOSED TO MAINS whenever plug is connected to mains.

For the little $ they are asking you get a lot of soldering station here. It doesn't have a UL / Intertek listing but it's not expected at this price. It's still very well made and much safer than many that cost more.

Omg what is supposed this to be? Well thx for tear down but that is all than you just naming parts. Everybody who is interesting in teardown can identify capacitor, transformer etc... But some comparison of real usability is totally missing. You just desolder once smd capacitor ant it took almost half minute on part which has really low thermal capacity. So basically you just shown "hey ppl this think is not totally scam it's just crap". Showing accuracy of soldering iron is nice but don't tells much much important is how it behaves in soldering and can react if temperature goes down due to touching of component which has high thermal capacity. Anyway thans I at least know to stay away from this and rather invest few more for sth of higher quality. Thx

It's hard to please everyone...I try to stay away from the engineering drool and stay focused on the hardware at hand. Yes it's a wire round transformer but is it any good..sure it converts 120ac into 24vdc but is it a decent performer ... As always I appreciate all the feedback good or bad. ❤️Unfortunately I would pass on this unit. There's been a lot of issues that point to negligible QA which means it's not reliable. Better options out there.
