Looking for pictures of the square oil pump drive on a John Deere Model A I found very little. So here is a short video. The square drive is a safety feature that breaks if the oil pump freezes with water trapped in the sump or with major debris from failed components. It sits on top of the round drive shaft and meshes with the helical gear on the camshaft. My question now is should I have falling oil from the governor?
