JD is 1000% right, you're not a hardened criminal. Any woman who wants to judge you because you were an outgoing teen, running a legal business who just got into deep, without knowing what you were doing was a crime. Ian, don't rush it, its not worth wasting a year or 3 with a woman only to get hurt, build up yourself, you'll attract the future mother of your kids and the woman you grow old with.

Ian, JD, me and my wife married 6months after meeting, as you said brother. When you know, you know man, she has been a huge help in my recovery, I am 13 years clean because 7 of it she was there to help in the hard times, thank you Ian for doing this Interview, JD’s story is truly amazing, and the world should hear his story. JD talks about how the gym was/is an important part of his recovery and routine often. I know the same is true for my loved one. Has he thought about starting a foundation/partnering with a gym to provide memberships to those in recovery? Gyms aren’t cheap and that was the first thing my loved one was worried about. Newly released, in recovery, and getting back on his feet…paying for a gym membership was hard. Food for thought! Love you guys together and JD’s perspective on recovery and reentry has helped me tremendously.

I had actually stumbled upon his TikTok account sharing his story, then through watching/listening to all his videos I found his interview here and I’ve been listening to them non-stop. JD I know a bit about be "very, very married", although not legally my girl and I have been together since 1985 and wouldn't change that for anything. Sorry, my mind stays in the gutter 24/7 and that was such a low hanging fruit, I couldn't resist! Anyways, JD is a great guy and I love what he's doing in the recovery community. After seeing his video called "a criminals view on gun control" or something like that, I loved it and had to subscribe! He doesn't come at it from a right or left perspective, he just spits straight facts that anybody who's spent some time in the streets knows and it's something that law abiding citizens and lawmakers should know too if the goal is to actually keep people safe! I'm glad that I found his channel and that it's taking off, he really deserves it and I love the message that he's trying to spread. He's far more than just part of the prison genre on here, his experience with addiction, recovery, crime, gangs, the music industry, etc opens him up to a social media career that won't just fall off in 1-2 years like a lot of the people in that genre. I think he's smart by trying to branch out to other topics after getting people's attention with the crime/prison stories. 1090 Jake did that and after his street and prison stories dried up, he was able to realize that he needed to expand and got into being the go to for hip hop news and to a lesser extent, just interesting street news unrelated to him. Being a bit older with more life experience, I think JD has way more to offer and will be able to do a lot more with this platform!

I hope that the people that has never walked our shoes, and has never been we're we've been will listen to you two and others and tell their family and friends that are struggling day to day and tell them how to succeed and live without these bad habits, chemicals or adult beverages. This is how it's done. What do you want? Freedom from the bars used in jails and prisons, or not having that monkey on your back? Not everyone goes through D-Ts when they quit. Life is better, pick up a clean hobby or go and help others out to make them a better person. Don't feel embarrassed when you start because we had to start all over again and find things new to do to keep us going, don't give up, stay strong, it will be worth it. Best of luck.

Yea it’s hard trying to find girls nowadays…I’m a 3 time convicted felon and yes girls like that…but not the ones I’d want to have kids with. A majority of good girls who don’t have any kids yet or any baggage are basically all taken. Google is a gift and a curse also. People are so quick to listen and read about you, but not give you the chance to ACTUALLY show them your a different person and nothing like how you thought I was…also my last arrest was over 11 years ago and it is still held against me….anyway man love your channel and videos. Keep up the good work and I appreciate you getting guys out there to show how they’ve changed and now some help and work with their communities. Keep up the good work- your killin it!!

52:17 THIS As someone who grew up with the internet when it was brand new, 1000% (yes I know how many zeros I put) BE CAREFUL ONLINE! I spend a lot of time online, but try to keep my personal life and online life separate. Just like the in the real world you wouldn’t go around showing everyone the inside of your house or yelling out to the masses really personal things.

I have been trying to figure out a way to do what your talking about JD, the outreach stuff. I'm in SE 30th in portland. How do I get funds? I've thought about putting out donation containers at the plaids at in the neighborhood. I think people are more likely to donate to something happening they can see. Similar to Neighborhood policing.
