No ego trip here, like Henley & Frey, as much as I adore their music. Souther is as much a part of that band as any member of The Eagles ever were, and his contributions, particulary "New Kid In Town" and "The Last Resort" were just...I ain't got the words.

Angela M You are so right! I just learned this guy's name, but I've adored his music since the 70s. What a great, brilliantly creative, respectable and humble man. JD, you won my heart.
J.D. Souther one of America's greatest songwriters. He is as much a part of the "California Sound" or "Laurel Canyon Sound" as anybody else. I lived in Hollywood for several years back in the early 1980's and passed by Musso & Franks on Hollywood Blvd. hundreds of times. After seeing this interview I wonder if J.D. was in there writing. Love the Hollywood Hills as much as he seems to. So many times during those early days when things weren't "going well" I though about returning to my hometown in the S.F. bay area. However, I looked at the Hollywood sign, felt the warm L.A. sun and said NO, gotta hang on. I did hang on and L.A. is still my home for over 35 years.
'Glen Frey was my roommate and Geffen said "Hey...get a band together." ;wow.... JD Souther...beyond beyond. Can't wait to see Alpha Go beat JD Souther in songwriting before I die. NOW - That will be one sweet day!
