This one is really timeless. And honestly, I think he wouldn't be able to create something measuring up to this should he even decide to. Ethnicolor stands a head and shoulders above all his entire works. That's what I think.

One of the very few songs created by a human that has the ability to haunt your soul. I thought he was ahead of his time back in the 80's and now in 2022 I think his genius is only just becoming relevant. The world creates few true genius, JMJ certainly is one of them.
Here are the intruments JMJ are using on his Zoolook album, where Ethnicolor 1 and 2 are played : Linn LM-1 LINN LinnDrum Simmons SDS V EMINENT 310 U Garfield ELECTRONICS Doctor Klikk E-MU Emulator Fairlight CMI-II ARP 2600 EMS Synthi AKS MOOG 1955 Oberheim OB-Xa SEQUENCIAL Circuits Prophet 5 Yamaha DX7 EMS Vocoder 1000
Jean at his absolut best...I was 14 when I bought the Zoolook album, i didn't understand it immediately...but then it goes into my veins...and it's still here! I love it!
'Jean Michel Jarre' don't get any better than this.Love his music and stage shows. Saw him perform in 'Docklands' London, the best live show ever. Thanks
First Jarre piece I ever heard and still my favourite. His music grabbed me from the very first time. How did those sounds and how to produce and combine them occur to him? And unlike so much "experimental" music, this is truly musical. We need a better word than "genius" to describe Jarre.
On Russian TV this very masterpiece was frequently used in programs dedicated to UFOs... It`s just incredible, wonderful and incomparable! The start is just like a supernatural scream out from the depths of Universe... And the whole thing is amazing, I always enjoy listening to Ethnicolor... Love it very much!
+golgotisme I still have captain blood on my Atari ST the music was great, the game was weird tho, I never completed it tho cause I'd always get stuck on where to go and what to do, as my version of the game never came with instructions on what to do in the game, but I kept hold of it just for the classic ethnic color music in the game. =)
IBM compatible through PC speaker here. I never finished the game either. My character would lose his humanity and thus the mouse cursor became uncontrollable. I read in my computer's manual the premise, but I still didn't understand what I was supposed to be doing. I lost an Izwal when he ran away after I teleported him to another planet.
Genial
An amazing creation... Makes me wonder how can a human being perceive such a composition... The fullest sound I have ever heard... It must have taken over 50-60 people on stage to perform, excluding the visual effects staff
freeing the mind in music, i had the most amazing journey allowing this vibration to enter my biological system, nerological paths repaired, all systems active, Jarre, Jah?.... a god amongst gods, thank you and thank you for sharing.. BPRGTEAM peace!
I honestly can't find words for this song, just simply mind blowing music. Very abstract, Strangely epic, very deep (even more so than En attendant cousteau) and also at the same time seems intimidating without being offensive, atleast it seemed that way to me when i 1st heard it fully 12 years ago, now i just think....WOW!!
Pink Floyd is my favourite band, so I feel this comparison is apt: "Ethnicolor" is JMJ's "Echoes". Modern day pieces of classical music that represents the absolute best from both artists. I'll never tire of hearing it.
Impresionante!! Awesome! The orchestral part is spectacular, cadences, etc. Wonderful! I love the chorus and sounds of this track. Great JMJ.
For 2 days ago I was watching this concert from Paris La Defense 1990 on my DVD :) I love seeing this show not once, but again and again if I want to :) Becuase Jean Michel Jarre rocks and I love his songs and Paris La Defense is one of my favorite and the best concert on DVD I have ever seen :)
I really hope Jarre will do another massive free outdoor city concert like Houston, Lyon, or La Defense before he retires using the buildings or skyscrapers of the area
I remember hating Zoolook when it came out, but regarding the "test of time" it's one of his best, if not his best, especially this track, I think it's his finest hour if not his most "Jarre" typical.
