I have a 91 YJ 4.0L my question is the rear ccv valve fitting on the valve cover. Is that just a free flowing un restricted elbow or is there supposed to be some kind of restriction in the elbow? My fitting is the twist in type with no restriction. I guess what I am saying is my front and back ccv fittings in the valve cover bot look the same. I am having problems smoging my jeep it has high exhaust temps and thinking this might be a vacuum problem??? Great videos!
So I have a 89 YJ with 4.2, and I heard you say this PVC routing is the same only front valve cover hose goes to the carb air filter (I have an Edlbrock air filter on a Motorcraft 2150) and the back one with the PVC goes to manifold vac, is that correct?
I have a 1993 wrangler with a 2.5 engine and at the front of the valve cover there is something that screws into the side of the cover with a vacuum hose attached to it. What is this called?
Hi I’m from Costa Rica and I just purchased an XJ 1988 and i wonder if you have the size of both (PCV/CCV) or a link where I could buy it on Amazon or eBay. Thank you 🙌🏻
@@superb60ce it’s an 89. I have the aluminum valve cover as well, I’m not sure the CCV grommets and “valves” would fit in the holes that are in it. Tried finding a metal stamped one with the better baffle setup but not lookin good. I also don’t seem to have much air being pulled into the front hole in cover or I watched a guy say I should have enough suction in the dipstick tube to keep a small square of paper sucked to it, ever heard of that one?!
Hey ,this is just amazing information, ive also seen you replace the vaccum reservoir, just specatcular how you work and explain things. So here is my story, i got a red 96 XJ just like this one, and since i installed headers last fall, i've noticed a whistling noise and also a tick sound. So i know it can be the lifters, but i heard something collapse when i revved at a stop light, since then ,theres been gas smell in the cabin, so i got a cannister as i have no vaccum reservoir ( broken). is it ok to drive a 96 without a reservoir, if not ill get one and i will get the break booster valve to fix the whistle noise, do you know what is the size of the hose for that and what is the part called in 1:39 of the video ( the other hose that connects to the manifold ) also got a fuel pressure regulator, i heard those 2 can take away the carbon or gas smell in the cabin. can you tell me where the fuel pressure regulator is located, i would really appreciate it. thanks, and keep up the great work, your helping all of us, may the lord bless you. cheers
The 96xj fuel pressure regulator is part of the fuel pump assembly in the tank. The 96 is an OBD2 system that uses a higher pressure "dead head" system
I found out the vacuum line going to cruise control servo was cut. Im assuming thats why my cruise control doesnt work. But would this also cause me to fail smog? Ive been failing due to high nox
Hi, I just bought this 1993 Wrangler 6 Cyl. with a Freshley rebuilt engine. When I first got it, It ran supper rich, black smoke upon acceleration. rough idle, slight hesitation upon acceleration and loss of power from 2500 RPM & up. I found codes for TPS and MAP. Aso found his new Spark plugs Fuel fouled. Dry and black. Now, after I changed spark plugs, the MAP, IAC, TPS and Temp sensors It runs good. but I'm smelling something weird upon acceleration. the heavier I accelerate the worst the smell. Almost smell like fuel smell mixed with some kind of chemical smell. I can't figure out where its coming from. Any suggestions. Thanks...
Can anyone out there tell me if my 2002 Jeep Wrangler TJ (X) 4.0 litre engine requires an EGR Valve ??? Just purchased it in February and trying to nail down the lack of power in 5th gear on any kind of slope! Thanks!!
What are the symptoms of to much transmission fluid ? I replaced the output shaft seal due to transmission fluid leaking and the transmission I assumed was low on fluid so I put in a gallon w/o checking levels . I know pretty stupid but 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0 holds 12 quarts of transmission fluid. In reverse there is immediate transmission engagement but in drive it takes a second to build up before the vehicle starts moving . In low it immediately moves the vehicle. The oil pressure at idle is 25-30 and when driving it’s 45-55 .
@superb60ce I never had fluid blow out the fill line , I did take some transmission fluid out and got the same issue with sluggish acceleration when in drive . Can the spark plugs be a issue with this set of symptoms and also what is the distributor bar thing that sets on the plugs ??
I have a 98 cherokee I get a rough idle but driving is fine, I've changed spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, went to do injector o rings but they were all good but noticed one connector was corroded, cleaned that up and it got rid of my missfire code but I still have a rough idle. Any tips on where to check next? I was thinking pcv or vacuum maybe. But I know my fuel pump isn't doing well so maybe that's causing the rough idle too? Thanks for any advice in advanced.
If you had one corroded connector, you need to check ALL electrical connections in the entire vehicle. Clean all connections, including grounds, and reassemble. For cleaning contacts I like De-Oxit www.amazon.com/Hosa-D5S-6-DeoxIT-Contact-Cleaner/dp/B00006LVEU/ref=sr_1_5?hvadid=557593763921&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9010612&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=7415591679867025366&hvtargid=kwd-10889212602&hydadcr=18880_13357729&keywords=deoxit%2Bdn5&qid=1703887184&sr=8-5&th=1
a lot of part store will refer to them both as PCV valves, the front one is without orifice, the rear one with....check rock-auto and search thru ALL the Jeeps with these engines and you WILL find them
I have ‘06 Rubicon Automatic leaks oil between engine and trans at high rpm, not idle. I replaced rear engine seal and oil pan gasket 3 times. Wondering if blocked ccv is causing high pressure buildup and resulting in oil release thru rear main seal. Appreciate ur thoughts … thx
Possible. I would replace both the metered and unmetered to be sure, and maybe re-do the rear main and make sure it is correct (they can be installed backwards)
I'd love to know where that mid throttle whistle comes from after you install one of those BBK 62mm throttle bodies. I even machined my throttle body spacer to 62.5mm to match.
My 1993 xj has a map sensor on the rear fire wall, which connects to the intake manifold (not at the throttle body)! Will changing from my original cover ... to the cover your recommending assist me? 2nd which pcv /ccv / and gasket do you recommend to use (on the 93) with the new cover? Do you still have the item numbers! Thank you in advance Great video! I appreciate and click subscribe as well! #NEBProdsBx / #DBNEBMusic / #OTBST
I will always recommend replacing the OBD-1 (early HO) valve cover to the later steel cover. The oil baffle is that much better. As far as PCV/CCV valves go...check rock auto under 96 cherokee
Well I got a 1995 Grand Cherokee when I brought the car it used to only smoked out the tailpipes when I'm sitting still on Park letting the car run now the car is smoking when I drive and not smoking when I'm in park I actually fixed them two lines on top of my motor like you said but I'm still trying to figure out why do we smoke when I'm driving but not when I'm sitting in the park can you help me
@@superb60ce yes it will smoke up a block but it's not the smoke u get when your engine bout to go.light grey.and yes my oil disappear like every week every since I had the jeep last June. When I first broke the Jeep in June it used to smoke only when I let it idle and Park it never smoke when I drove the Jeep now is vice versa is smokes when I drive but not smoke when I sit in park
I dont get why its so hard to find a video that shows the sound lol..... Every single video I have seen just has some old white blue collar guy trying his hardest to explain the sound and solution.... Just show the sound!!!! lol
