I took a quick overnight camping trip with my son (BOSSLEVEL on RU-vid). We hit the Brewer Lake OHV Trail and had a great time! This was BOSSLEVEL's first time camping... EVER! This trail was pretty difficult, maybe a high 6 or low 7. I highly recommend this trail for those who have a capable rig. Also tested out the Napier Jeep Tent. (Episode 24 - 11/12/22)

Good job DAD!!! You're on the right path. My "bosslevel" was 45 last year. We have many great memories. The last being me, in California, sneaking up on him, in Idaho for his 45th birthday. Called him just before walking in his front door. Another preciouses moment that will be remembered. Got the link for Bosslevel from the end of the video and off I go...

Perhaps you have been informed of this by now. If your ground sheet/tarp under your tent is bigger than the floor of your tent (protrudes out from under the tent) if and when any moisture runs down the walls of the tent that moisture/water will end up under the tent. It will at minimum make it colder but with the pressure of items and yourself water will make its way thru the floor and into your tent.

@@TrailNewbie well actually it was the idea of Brewer lake but the tent is nice too! I have this phobia about the Sierra Nevadas and bears so when we go glamping up there, it's always in the trailer and of course that limits us but I'm on the hunt for a 4x4 presently. Back to the bear thing. We once had a bear encounter on the Tioga Pass road at Ellery lake. The bear ate our stringer of trout and all the food we had in our back pack! After that, he followed a group of hikers up the side of the mountain!
@TrailNewbie
@TrailNewbie Год назад
@@2-old-Forthischet WOAH! That’s crazy! No wonder you have that fear lingering!!! My normal trips I’m sleeping in the Jeep with all doors/windows closed. Feel pretty safe, but agree - with a tent of any sort you’re a little bit exposed.

You'll fit through "The Squeeze" I ran that trail with the local Jeep club....they spotted me all the way down to the lake even though I was only running 33s. Good spotters are so helpful.🙂. But I wouldn't attempt it Solo.

would a full size truck like an f-250 fit on the trail if it was lifted? What drone do you use? Great video!
@TrailNewbie
@TrailNewbie 10 месяцев назад
There is a gate keeper once you get closer to Brewer that might be a little tight for an F250. I am not completely sure if it can make it past that point. The issue would be the length of the vehicle at that point. I would say it is possible, but it would be questionable in terms of potentially taking on some trail damage. The drone I use is a Mavic Air 2. Thank you so much for your comment. I really appreciate it. 😃👏🏼🙌🏼👊🏼

Great vid Greg! That looked pretty gnarly. How would you say it compared to Buck Lake Trail?
@TrailNewbie
@TrailNewbie Год назад
I’d say Brewer is more difficult. Mainly due to the final sections that go down to the lake. I always say, the video doesn’t show the difficulty and in this case it’s really true. I’d put Buck Lake at maybe a high 5 in its toughest parts, and I’d put Brewer at a high 6 or low 7.

Been wanting check out that trail. Do you recommend going solo or is a spotter needed?
@TrailNewbie
@TrailNewbie Год назад
Great question! Based on your profile picture, it looks like your rig is lifted on 35”s or 37”s? If that’s the case, IMO you won’t need a spotter. I’ve only been wheeling for a little over 2 years, so I’m still a ‘newbie’ (hence the name) and I was able to get through there without spotting. However, I did get out and look at things here and there. Long winded way of saying, you should be good solo. Is your rig lifted, etc? 😀
@scottr8893
@scottr8893 Год назад
Thanks for the info! I have 37’s with a 2.5” lift. Looking forward to watching you videos of the eastern side of the sierras, that’s the next areas I want to explore.
@TrailNewbie
@TrailNewbie Год назад
@@scottr8893 Awesome! Ya, on 37”s and 2.5, you’ll be 100% good on Brewer. Just be cautious, take your time, get out and walk some lines if you think you need to. If you’re local to the area, follow me on Instagram and message me - will let you know when we’re doing some trail runs up above Shaver. 👊🏼
