We moved the dana 300 vent tube to the rear output housing. It was puking oil out the vent line, which was very long. Once we added the vent to the top of the rear output, all good since. Also, we added a catch can to be safe
Maybe a crown royal bag would fit as a shift boot. Have you considered putting any sort of edge protection on the new shifter tunnel you need to cover? Something to prevent the metal from cutting the boot whenever you shift from 2H to 4L? Maybe radius the corner so it’s smoother on the passenger side?
I learn from you's,I'm doing two xj wagons long arm conversions getting the works, one wj wagon with the works,is I'have truck body builder experience for the mods
Hey thats so cool it sounds like you have a ton of projects going on, 2 long arm kits on 2 xjs sounds prettt rad. I used to own like 4 wjs, i had some bad luck with the wjs where stuff just randomly failed all the time like blend doors, cps, etc
Ive seen a few of these 231 doubler builds on RU-vid. Im curious how well it holds up? Lots of Torque going through drive train. You must be over 100:1
Yes, with 4.10s it will be around 109:1. Ive got a good friend who has been running a 231/300 doubler for over 16 years and its been fine. Stock 2.6 gears in the 300 like this one , but he has 4.88s . He us running a 30/44 . The real concern is how long with the 30 last, but with more control, as long as you dont get stupid, the 30 shkuld last.
Which bearings are you concerned about ? The 300 is filled with 2 quarts, and the 231 just has the input bearing basically which is fully submerged in like 1-1.25 quarts, i cant remember exactly since we filled it til it came Out of the middle hole. We also run catch cans on both of the vents as well to monitor overfilling. So far its been great. Ive got a buddy thats been running the same Setup for 16 years and its been fine on his.
And he was really responsive to email. He sent some wrong bolts, and theres no instructions, so youll want to sit there on the bench for a while one night just figuring out how all the bolts go in , what holes you need to drill. Our clocking ring had one hole that was a little bit off, ery minor ( it only clocks one way) but one hole was still not right so i hust opened it up with a die grinder.
@@blondejon83 I definitely will hoping for it to be a summer project if I can get my hands on all the parts in time I plan to video and post some of it so I can get some insight and judgement from other
Hi you’re pretty local to sf! Do you have recommendations for driveline vibration issues starting around 35 mph? I’d love to have you or someone nearer sf look at it. 3.5 inch lift
id get tires balanced first, then pull driveshafts and inspect u joints, also measure driveline angles with respect to pinion angle, it will be different depending on a stock slip yoke versus a SYE. so tire balance, driveline angles, trans mount, u joints.
This is fot bills rig, not mine. I have an atlas 2spd 3.8 case in my xj and my rubicon has the 4:1 . Both are auto. Bills rig is a manual and he needs the 110 :1 double low
