In this video I take my stock 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ off roading for the first time. Make sure to check out my channel for more Jeep Cherokee XJ videos! Thanks for watching!
I am the original owner of my 2001 XJ and you don't have to do much to make them fairly unstoppable. With a 50mm lift, bash plates, and good AT tires, it's been years since I've been stuck. But make sure you have some good recovery points for when you do get stuck - tow hooks on the front and a class III receiver on the back.
That’s a great video, nice production! Back in high school, a buddy of mine had one of those. You wouldn’t believe the shit we went through in it, you seriously wouldn’t believe it! They’re built tough!
took my stock suspension xj on the 16 creeks trail in ky did great though a few creek crossings were a lil deep but made it though when most of the other jeeps were bigger tire and or lift xj and lots of wranglers
That “off road trail” is not a good test for off roading. My stock 01 S10 2wd could make it through. Kinda wished I could see the Jeep be pushed a little harder.
I took a stock 1984 Cherokee Chief with the pathetic 2.8 v6 and AT tires through one of the Jeep Jamborees held in Arkansas in the late 80’s. You should have seen the look on all those faces when I did a full send up the last steep hill obstacle. I made it where several built up jeeps had to go around. It was a blast. I took that thing through so much stuff I couldn’t believe it.
I’m about to start restoring my 1998 two door, 4x4 gunmetal color Jeep. I’ll never sell it... bought it for $200 about 12 years ago and drove it for 8 years then my son drove it another 4 or so. It has over 310k and runs GREAT.
You will be surprised what these can do stock. Mine is fully built now days but I rarely engage my air lockers. My brother has a JL with no lift / 33 bfg all terrains and took it off-roading for the first time on my new property and was surprised with how deep he could get it before getting stuck.
Ya they are really great vehicles, I took it out in a snow storm too and didn’t have any issues at all, even passed a few trucks that were stuck in the ditch.
awesome car my dude. He just curious. What was the milleage when you got it and what is that cute little black antenna on the right side of the hood>? Is that for the radio?
great video man!I'm considering a 235 tire for my stock 2000 Cherokee, I'll probably have about 1000lbs of gear when I'm overlanding, I was wondering if that would be a problem? I wouldn't be too off-road.
Thanks! I don’t think tire width would affect it much, it’s all about the tread. And I’m not sure what the actual payload is for an XJ but I’d say you should be fine
