Well done. You can use the bags to transfer from larger, more economical containers and still be able to squeeze them into the diff. Thanks for another great series.
Wow, why in the world have you not built yourself a workshop with a great lift? I would love to see you Give Mrs Smith a hug and tell he how much you appreciate her!
Awesome work J.C. It’s interesting to see just how much precision has to go into rebuilding one of those properly. That fact that you’re also willing to check on the vehicle after a couple months just out of the kindness of your heart to make sure everything is solid is a complete 180* from how the previous mechanic did shady work. Not to mention as well as trying to swindle more money out of that family. I’m sure they really appreciate what you’ve done for them👍.
Turned out good, it turned out great 👍!!! You make excellent videos sir. I love ❤️ watching your videos because you take the little bit of extra time to do things the right way. You built that rear diff. the way I would of. Usually I find that if you get the backlash in spec. the pattern is on the money. Great job 👍, great video 🤠.
I know it’s hard while filming but I would have like to see more details on the pattern as I trust the work that you do. Thanks for the video it was quite informative.
Great video J.C.Smith glad to see the reassembly of the rear end. It was nice that all the tolerance were within spec. Always like how you go one step further on a repair wheel studs and the lug nuts.
I got rid of my 44a on my wj for a 150$ junk yard dana 35 after replacing bearings twice. Even dropped axle completely out to make sure coil springs weren't flexing axle housing. I had to get a shorter driveshaft for the 35. I had to lift my press up to press bearing on to my axles. Those dana 44's come with a few versions of the dana 44's. I found that out when replacing an axle shaft. WJ have different axle shaft lengths based on if they have a hydra-lok differential due to Crosspin offset.
Dear J..C. Smith projects family. 👍👌👏 Extremely well done again. I had no clue, that it needs such an amount of precise work to rebuild/repair a transmission. Maybe I simply watched too much videos like Pakistani truck!? 😁 ;-) Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health to all of you.
Beautiful work. It’s a darn shame that you can’t find this piece of mind at a typical shop. Especially with the price of goods. I’m driving a new truck with the check engine light on due to a lack of care by the previous owner. It’s not a cheap truck but so much dishonesty out there. Have a great day
Nice fix, taken time to get the correct parts are key so job doesn't have to be redone in your life time, it should outlast the car when body is rusted out.
Thank you for the great video! Question: How does the retaining pin for the spider gear pin shaft come out? Is it threaded or you drive it out with a pin punch?
Hi J.C hope you're doing well! i was wondering if you can help me with an inquiry, I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee 96 5.2 v8 with the Dana 44 diff, do you know which Rear Axle seal does it use? mine has been tearing up the seals and honestly I don't know if i'm putting the correct seal Thanks in advance!
You can't believe how relieved I was to read the note that said you borrowed an in-lbs wrench. I was about to blow a fuse. 😅 Looks like the setup came in just about perfect for used gears. Did you get lucky and just pop the existing shims back where they came from? ...and Mrs. Smith is smarter than I am. I _never_ remember to bring oil in from the cold before it's time to put it in. Nothing like a 6 hour differential fill for a good time. 😆
i used the original pinion shim. i actually found the measurement from the rear of the case to the rear of the pinion. it was well within tolerance. i thought i would try the original carrier shims as well. checked it and as you seen, it was right there where it needed to be.
@@j.c.smithprojects I love it when a plan comes together. 👍 If it were me, I'd have been out there for 12 hours trying to get the setup to come out right.
i went to your channel to see how it should be done but there isnt any videos....feel free to do the same repair and video it start to finish so we can all see how it should be done.
yup 90 is no fun when its cold was driving cross country lost the front seal on my 79 toyotas trans it was pumping oil out it was january an i had to get from ohio to calif kept the 90 on the floor by the heater every fuel stop got under it put more in ugh the cold in nebraska and wyoming i froze part of my moustache to the window when i stopped to rest in green river
