I bought mines because city roads are so bad here in Queen City. Last month, my STI had to replaced one low profile tire due to road surfacing. Tired of slowing down on every pot holes, manhole covers, railroad crossings and other city road obstacles. 2 weeks of owning a Mojave and I love it every moment.
Best looking truck in the segment and gives full-sized trucks a good run for the money. Unless you are doing super duty dually hauling this will do it all and still have the Jeep personality and it's a convertible!
Fellow Michigander here, up north near Bay City. Love the content, and I have been looking into getting a gladiator. Do you think the gladiator sport with the max tow package, 2inch lift and 37s would do good in trails? Or do you need the lockers?
Howdy!! Honestly you don’t have to have lockers if your not rock crawling. Most of the time I’m not locked. There will be times you wish you had them. But just make sure you have a good winch, recovery gear and buddies.
I've a 2020 Gladiator Overland which I purchased December 2019. This is the first time watching your video(s). I consider myself a "cherry" with regards to off-road/grid rock crawler, despite the fact that I was turned on to Jeep while serving in the Army. 4 of my 12 years of service were completed just before the Jeep platform was replaced by Humvee. I've fallen in love with off the grid adventures, and did some pretty bad ass driving, navigating unforeseen obstacles in real world.situations, but always on Uncle Sam's dime. Now my adventures are sponsored by yours truly, providing a much more conservative perspective when considering how far I test and push the limits of my Jeep's capabilities. Naturally, my instincts drive the desire to spend the money I use to build my Gladiator wisely. I've watched many videos I have found informative and very helpful, as well as those that are shameless attempts at selling you a product for the sake of making a sale, not necessarily with best interest at heart. Your has a good format, and you come across as sincerely exploring your Gladiator experience along with the viewer in concise, well articulated thoughts and analysis of the subject of your video. I'm subscribed, and therefore will be watching your how to, and why you do what you do videos for guidance as I eventually turn my everyday commuter into an Overland Adventure Toy. Got a bit wordy, but just wanted to ensure i express my sincere appreciation for the service you provide to the Jeep community in support of our quest for being one with Nature in her most remote corners of the blue marble. Thx -def
I appreciate you being wordy! And I’m glad I come off that way! I know what you mean I’ve watched videos that I can’t even sit through. I truly just want to share my thoughts and info on this bad ass jeep. I just ordered a 2021 jeep gladiator diesel. Can’t wait to get that and share some info on it! Thanks for being a subscriber!
Originally I had it on a nice mount inside the bed. But then I put a Tonnele cover on and it wouldn’t fit anymore. So I drilled a hole on the front lip of the bed. Not ideal but couldn’t figure out a better way.
Any issues with the steering on your gladiator? I have a 2019 JLUR and the steering was so bad (wondering + deadspot) that I finally just replaced the entire system with the PSC big bore hydro assist kit. Night and day difference, couldn't be happier.
Yes figured they were foxes they were probably still a pretty good shock. My only complaint about them is they limit down travel. But it doesn’t matter now because I ordered a Diesel Gladiator. Waiting on that to arrive.
Hey man! First time seeing your channel! It’s crazy! I’m front grand haven and it just so happens I found this while thinking about a Jeep. Awesome video!
It doesn’t lol 😆 just never saw anyone do a before and after. That being said I didn’t end up wasting the dyno run. At the time I was just trying to think of different tests we could do.
I debated between 4.88"s and 5.13"s, and I run 39x13.50x17 KM3's on a 4.5" Skyjacker lift w/ custom driveshafts.. 4.88"s are perfect for 39"s, ideal RPM, stays in 8th gear with zero issues on the the highway.. Another thing with 5.13"s vs. 4.88"s, the higher you go, the weaker the pinion gear will be, due to more teeth, smaller, closer together etc.. Also, if you do the mathematics (which I don't claim to be a pro at), 4.88's are where you should be running 39"s based on OEM 4.10's with OEM tires, etc.. Plenty of folks run 5.13"s though, so not trying to sway you either way, but there were too many +'s in the 4.88 column to justify 5.13"s for mine, and so far, 100% happy with that decision :) Enjoy my friend.
You said you are putting 40s on it - are you putting on Dana 60s? I know a lot of "mall crawlers" are using 40s, but if I were you (and I have a JT Rubi) I would stick with the 37s, and gear to 4.88s for what you are using it for. 40s on stock 44s is not a good idea. I wheel the hell out of mine and I still am sticking to 4.88s. I know everyone has an opinion, just thought I would give you some thoughts from someone who owns one and has been down this road. FWIW
Ive seen alot of guys that are having good luck with the new gen dana 44's. So I will probably sleeve, and gusset them. If I end up having issues. Ill probably upgrade to UD60's. If I still had my JKU, not a chance would I try to run 40's.
Seriously looking at getting one of these. Currently have an f150. Test drove the Mojave the other day and liked it. Only thing I didn't care about was there seemed to be a lot of play in steering wheel. Little concerned about fuel efficiency also. Thanks for the video.
Super happy to see that you're a Realtor. I'm a Broker and this would be a great conversation starter. Own a 2017 Sahara Unlimited. Hows the gas mileage? I'd love to get one. What would be a good tire wheel combo for everyday driving? Great video!
@@MaxOverland I have my own brokerage in San Antonio, TX . Called Simple Real Estate. Always looking for great agents to refer to. At your service in Austin and San Antonio.
Don't have one, but I want one. Never even gave having a Jeep a thought until the Gladiator package came about. I'm going to wait a bit to see if the rumored 392 happens before I buy. If it doesn't happen, I'm saving up to do a 392 conversion.
Be warned of the Eco Diesel! It's not like the diesel of 20 years ago. They now put an extreme emissions system on there and it's like wearing a heavy duty filter. It is constantly catching all the gunk from the fumes and then has to clean itself. It cleans all the gunk off the filter by driving a certain distance. So you can't run up to the store and come home. The Eco Diesel is meant to drive for longer distances and if you are not driving the longer distances, you are damaging the engine. As a matter of fact, the computer will tell you how much more you need to drive. So you could get home and then your Gladiator could tell you you need to drive another 50 miles! If you turn it off, then you are on your way to damaging your engine. Your computer will only allow you to get away with turning it off so many times, then it will stop running all together. Then you have to haul it to the dealership. So now... are you still excited about the Eco Diesel??? Don't believe me? Call your dealership and ask the Service Department about it.
Awesome build- what bumper is that? And so far the strangest interaction Ive had with my Gladiator was a week ago I was sitting in the truck, with it running in a store parking lot waiting for my wife, 2 elderly women came up to the rear of the truck and started looking at and even grabbing the bumper and tires. Apparently they didnt realize it was running and that I was in it- funny because I have an AFE rock basher exhaust thats not exactly quiet. They were quite startled and embarrassed when they got up to the driver door and I said hello. Ended up having a nice conversation, I found it awesome that 2 elderly women were into Jeeps... best part was before they left one said “wow this is a Rubicon too... what’d that cost ya 30?”
picking up my hydro max tow tomorrow, can't wait! there'll be another gladiator in west michigan. itd be cool to see a supercharger. stick with the mid-size. what do you use to keep your groceries from sliding around? any windshield cracks?
Would love a video of driving characteristics and fuel economy being on 37's with 4:10s, love the channel. Really thinking about getting into a gladiator in the future.
I have the same setup and i average around 16.8 mpg and lately it’s been more around town driving. As for the ride, I’d say it rides better with the lift and tires vs stock.i have the teraflex ct2 2.5” with the falcon 2.1 shocks
B. Dowdy I’m in Massachusetts, mostly flat. When i am on the highway I generally drive 75-80mph. Mcchris80 on IG, if ya wanna take a look. Just got it at the end of May so not too many photos of it. I’ve had five other wranglers and this is my favorite overall
Beautiful Gladiator. Looks great with the current lift, tire, wheel combo. That's a nice aftermarket front bumper as well. If you take prospective clients around in you truck, do they have problems getting in it? It will be interesting to see the before and dyno test with 5.13's. Fantastic video.
Thank you! To be honest my area is so far spread out clients don’t ride with me. But if they did I’m sure they’d have problems getting in. I really want to get the rack slide engineering sliders.
@@frankbleigh9620 ok perfect same here. I run 30psi on road too. Offroad when we were playing on rocks I was at 8psi, but i also have beadlocks. To be honest it would depend on your terrain. If im bombing down sandy or flat trails and may see some on road use to get to another trail. I would probably air down to 18-20psi.
God platinum special order 3.0 diesel & hybrid system 6k tow is NOT going to cut it. Engine is enough so the axles r letting Me Down. Dana 60 front & rear should get my tow rating back. 6k is a joke tow way to low in 2020 for ppl/God edition truck.
Interesting i have the Max Tow with 2.5" lift, and 35s. My 35s look good imo. I can't imagine going any bigger tires, but I'm a small guy. I've only had my JT for a week. I absolutely love it! Sting Gray! Haven't been asked about it yet, but haven't really been many places yet.
So the sport models have a lot lower fenders. It’s easier to fill those fenders. The rubicons have stock high line fenders to fit 35’s from the factory.
Let me be honest love jeep nothing on the road looks better than jeep. Driving a rental Gladiator sport for a week. Can't justify spending money on something very cheaply build car. Fca have technology and material wonder why don't jeep got same love like rest of Fca lineup. Lastly need a V8
I know guys with Tacoma’s where their transmission didn’t last 100k and their frame started rusting away and had to be replaced. Worldwide recall Toyota trucks, no thanks I will keep my gladiator and wrangler.
Its crazy how much it happens! lol Today I was sitting on my laptop. Two people drove up with jaws down. When they realized i was in the truck, they were like "oh crap" and then started asking questions.
