Kick your feet up and have your favorite snack while you watch this short update before the build series commences!!
Getting ready to tear this thing apart for the next stage of the build. I want to go over what I would do again and wouldn’t do again. This is meant to be a guide as ultimately, you can do whatever you please with your own build! Up until this point of the build, I feel your average weekend wrench turner can replicate what I’ve done.
Thank you for watching!
If you feel I’ve earned it, please subscribe.
Thank you!!

I did the rough country (RC) full front-rear suspension upgrade on my libby. Rear is still at same height yet the front started to sag. I will throw 1/4" spacers on top of front struts, yet I am pretty sure that it will continue to sag. Thus, my plan for this summer is purchasing OME springs and combine with RC sturts, as their spring rating is higher than RCs. I hope it will solve the issue. I wonder your SAS project on the front.

That's where I'm at But it's looking like custom Springs is the best Option .. It's just hard to justify Is economically

I have a 2012 Jeep liberty and everything you're saying is exactly what I thought. I knew it was inevitable that I would put a straight axle under the front, independent front suspension flat out just sucks If you're using it in any off road capacity for its main purpose. I love the dimensions of the liberty it's big enough for me to sleep in while camping being 6 Foot 4 It's just the IFS IFS up front being the weak link . Keep up the great work I'm not giving up on my liberty just yet . Love the videos keep it coming.
@millwright15
@millwright15 Год назад
The bad thing is, I really wanted to make this front suspension work but it’s not financially wise. You’re right, the aluminum Dana 30 and the rest of it is just too weak to really beat on. I’ll definitely keep the videos coming! Thank you!

You should make some front bumpers., the one you made is nice. Have you ever weighed it? Great video, thanks for the update. I have 4” lift on my 2012 arctic ed. i went with 255/70/16” toyo open country very please with the drive
@millwright15

I priced a local guy to cut out pieces so I could sell a “build/weld your own” kit. When I got the price quote back it was not competitive at all with already made and available bumpers unfortunately. I was close to doing my own KK accessory line until the big price hike.

Better springs to fix the sag in front? What year is this rig? How did you snap that winch rope, were you hoisting a heavy woman up a tree again to get her cat?
@millwright15
@millwright15 Год назад
Better springs would probably fix the sag. I should’ve tried that or at least gave it a shot but the Jeep is heading a different direction now. It’s a 2012. No hoisting of large women this time, but it did have to do with a tree! Was cleaning up some trees on my property and got a little carried away!

I've found that in the front a limited slip works great and a selectable locker in the rear has been more than enough for everything I've done. As far as getting any sort of consistency on the front end swapping over to a "coilover" setup similar to JBA works really well. In my case I had a set of adapter pucks made to convert a standard fox 2.5 adjustable coilover to thread in and work with our Clevis forks (I swapped over to a KJ cast clevis vs using the stamped KK clevis forks they're a little bit shorter and thinner which give you some more room for the CV to avoid binding) I've built this platform about as far as you can go without changing the front lower control arms or solid axle swapping the front. I'd love to send over photos and info if it would help you get ideas for your next iteration! I'm currently sitting at about 3.5inches of lift on 33's [not the happiest with a 33. 32's are more than enough] but could easily push to 4.5inches they way it's built right now.
@millwright15
@millwright15 Год назад
It sounds like you’ve definitely put more time and effort into your build than I have this one! I’m currently in the process of putting a rubicon dana 44 under the front. I definitely could’ve chosen better lockers! I haven’t decided if I want to keep all my extra parts and build another KK on 31’s or 32’s as a daily driver what yet. If I decide to build another one I will definitely pester you! There’s many things I wish I would’ve thought about more and planned out better!

My liberty has the OME lift and had 245/75x16 tires Cooper Disco STT and not much else done to it. The tires have finally wore out and it was feeling rough and straining for any power. I went back to slightly smaller tires, AT style, and it is much smoother and quieter on the road. It needed to be geared down to 4.10's with the larger tires and more clearance since they were rubbing at near full turn. I would like to get a different rear and front bumpers, with swing out spare tire mount and fuel can holder on rear and receiver hitch in front for a portable winch. It probably needs a suspension freshening since it's been on for about 15 years. And strip all the gray plastic flares off and do flat fenders. Wish I had watched all the other videos you made about this but this is the first one. Mine is a 2002.
@millwright15
@millwright15 Год назад
From what I understand OME seems to be about the best stuff out there for these Libertys. The cooper disco STT is a great tire! I’ve ran it on several HD trucks I’ve had and they have always wore great and lasted a while! This Liberty is getting 5.13 gears and I hope that puts the pep back in it. It’s pretty sluggish now. I plan on building a rear tire carrier for this one soon. Stay tuned for more!
