Just finished. 1.5 hours. Your video made it possible. One thing to add, if your jeep has the automatic thermostat controls then you will need to take out the two screws holding the cabin air temp sensor in to remove the duct.
Great video!!! Thanks for taking the time to put this together. From diagnosis to repair this video helped me put an end to that obnoxious sound in under an hour. Thank you
Great video. I ended up taking the duct out in two parts. The front part just separated naturally which allowed me to get it out easier. It also made putting it back in a lot easier in two parts. Thanks!
Thanks for the best video of replacing the actuator. Took mine apart after removing it. Everything looks OK and I powered it with a AA battery. It works but I'm going to replace it since it'll probably fail down the road. I'm guessing my problem is with the HVAC controls.
1. Must have tool: Harbor Freight, PITTSBURGH Ratcheting Right Angle Multi-Bit Screwdriver Set, 8 Piece $2.99 2. Disconnect the negative battery cable (under passenger seat for 20 mins.) to recalibrate the blend door actuator system. 3. Do NOT drop the screw. You'll never find it again
Great video!!!! Question…. I bought a used Jeep and this part was missing on it. I bought a new one to install but not sure what size screws are needed. Would you happen to know?
Great video. I'm having the exact same problem. But it only started immediately after I changed the battery. So I'm wondering if the actuator is fine but has somehow forgotten its position and so tries to go too far, resulting in clicking. When starting the jeep the rear defrost light flashes which is supposed to indicate some kind of hvac fault. Any thoughts?
I've been chasing this also. I tried to do a hvac actuator calibration this evening with a scan tool and still have the blinking light. I'm going to try disconnect the battery for a little while and reconnect. I read somewhere today that disconnecting the battery and reconnecting makes the system calibrate the blend door actuators. We'll see.
Battery disconnect and reconnect after about 30 minutes also didn't work. Not sure what the deal is other then buying the OE part which I'm doing at the moment.
@@jeffwallace5557 In the process of playing around I did try pulling the fuse for the hvac and replacing it to get the system to try to recalibrate the motors, but it didn't work. I just ended up replacing the part. There is no more clicking, but the flashing light indicating an hvac fault still comes on whenever I start the jeep. I don't know how to get rid of it.
Thats why I am here. Replaced the battery and it started clicking. Replaced it a couple times in the past. Just annoying that replacing the battery seems to cause a replacement again for the 3rd time.
Thank you for the great video! I got everything out and replaced the part. However I’m having the darndest time getting the duct back in place. I do have the body module out, so I have the space. I just can’t get it to line up enough to snap into place. Any tips?
I put it back in two parts. This way I could line up the back half while looking into the duct directly. Remember the piece goes around the outside of the part it is fitting onto. Pushing up from the bottom while guiding it in at the top with my fingers in the hole got the thing to line up. It just took a bit of time and patience. Once that was in I installed the outer half by going through the opening below the steering wheel and sliding it down in place instead of trying to go up from the bottom.
I have the duct in 2 pieces but I can't get the part in. I have enough room except for the end closest to the dashboard. I have tried with all of my might, even pulling on the dash to get a little extra room. Any suggestions?
I have the wj with issues again! Door blends done with heater core last year! Now I have no airflow! Fan is strong. I have code 52 I was hoping the recirc door was broke and on top of Fan! No luck! I also have 54 56. Perhaps I should have replaced last year? I have no pollen filter to worry about. Vents are warm to touch. Would replacing the blend door actuators give me air flow? Any idea why I have no airflow?
That’s what the blend door does, direct air also. Not just the temperature blend door. If the air isn’t coming out the vents it must be blowing on the floor or windshield.
@@mantovaniracing haven't checked the floor, but it doesn't really flow out of any vent! Enough to defog only! Having crank and cam sensor replaced today and he guna check the left side blend door actuator for defect b4 he tackles the right side One!! I'm hoping to find the plastic housing broken!!!
I have a jeep jk 2011 and on the passenger side it heats up and on the pilot side it pulls cold aure, someone can tell me what solution you already have, that is what it says in the video but I had no request. Please
Primarily by the dial you turn dictates which actuator moves. The temperature dial controls the actuator I changed in this video. You can also listen to what side the clicking is coming from.
Hello, a week ago I changed this part to my jeep and I have noticed that the right light on the air panel blinks for 10 to 20 seconds before being able to turn on the AC, does this have anything to do with the change of this part?
I did too, when I removed that module bracket next to the blend door actuator, it was a little bit easier. Still scratched the crap out the back of my hand
@@mantovaniracingsorry that I didn't give you enough info. The module is loose and I have split the duct. I just can't seem to get the end of the duct over the flange that holds it in place.
