Although it was a little dark, I loved that you made this video. My install was completed in under 15 minutes because of it. Everything works again. Thanks.
Mark, Thanks for this video. I changed out my 2013 Wrangler multi-function switch yesterday afternoon (the turn signal portion had failed), after having watched this video the night before. It was exactly as you had said. I had the job done in about 15 minutes - this included verifying all functions were working properly. The new switch I ordered from AutoZone was nearly half the OEM list price and it has a nationwide lifetime warranty. This is important to me because I am a RV full timer that drags my Jeep around the country. I really appreciate you taking the time to produce this. Thanks again, Ed
Great video, and very helpful! My '07 Wrangler's light switch was acting up and, like you, had to jiggle it. The one snag I ran into was that I didn't line up the two small tabs on the switch to the corresponding slots. That led the directionals to not return to center, but once I realized my mistake, all was good.
Thanks so much! Honestly, I can’t hang a picture on the wall without help. But, I wanted to give it a try instead of being robbed by the dealer. It took me longer to watch the video than it took to install. Great video! Finally my fog lights are working again.
Helpful video. Thanks! Going to be changing mine this week after I started having an issue with the dome light turning on when turning on left turn signal
Great Video, my dimmer switch broke on mine. Dash was full brightness and could not turn on the dome light . Found the part number on Mopar $109. RockAuto $56 including shipping. Swapped it out today. Works great. Can't wait to drive home tonight. Thanks Again.
Thank you so much in advance of my switch arriving...my issue is front blinkers not working when the headlights are on and after MUCH research, including many suggestions on jeep forum, which didn't pan out, this is my last hope before taking it in. Love working on my jeep so fingers crossed, this works. TY for clear, concise instructions! Will update when I'm finished replacing this. #jeepgirl 😉
Mark, thank you for making this video. I have a 2012 JKU that is doing almost the same thing. Mine will randomly go from whatever night time setting you have the dash lights set to the entire interior light lit up on full. As well as when you giggle the lever while the head lights are on the interior lights will flash. Glad to know that was the fix I will be ordering a new lever this week! Thank you again!
Well done, thanks. My '08 with the original switch works great except the right hand turn signal won't always stay engaged. Replacing with Omix-Ada part.
Love the video. It is very helpful and makes the daunting task seem very easy. I have one small issue and i wonder if you can help me solve it. The shroud covering my steering column is elongated underneath/behind the steering wheel preventing the both parts of the shroud to come away. Do you know a way around this without having to pull the whole steering wheel off?
This happened to me as well...didn't have my tops with me and encountered a freak storm...seriously about six inches of standing water inside. Had to drive it home like that. Yet another reason why we are Jeep Nation. Lol
I had the same issues with mine, i replaced the switch with a new one, it all took me about 10 minutes. But you dont have to disconnect the battery to do the job! Mine is working fine without any issues. But I guess if your concern about any shortages of shock, i can see why you disconnected the battery. Great video thought. 👍
Very helpful. However, I have a 2017 JKU, and while the 3 bolts are the same for the shroud covers, the removal of the steering wheel shroud was all but impossible. It appears the the design was changed to incorporate a recessed ring that is inset into a hollow in the read of the steering wheel. I was able to remove the top shroud piece, but there was no way to remove the bottom one without removing the steering wheel, at least none that I could see. Sure it may look a little "better" (not really IMO, because who looks at those things?), but it is anything from a simple removal. Fortunately, I was able to remove the multi-function switch with the lower shroud in place but pushed down and out of the way. Still it was a 30-minute struggle that I did not expect.
Really great video. My 2011 Liberty has all the same issues that others are complaining about. Going to AUTOZONE tomorrow to get my new switch. Thanks for showing what tools are required. I have those and ready to start in the morning. Thank you.
Thinking about trying this with my parent's 2009 jk. The fog lights wont turn on, and I believe the switch is the problem. I did get them to turn on once when they bought the jeep about a year ago though. Note for install: complete in the dark for best success. Both the videos I have watched were completed in the dark 😂. Just messing but very good video. I'll try this in a little bit
I got all the screws out and the columns aren’t coming off what am I doing wrong? It seems on my 2017 Jeep Wrangler Sahara that it has a thing block it from under the steering wheel am I going to have to take the whole steering wheel off to replace the wiper switch?
I purchased a replacement control arm, installed it, and still had the exact same blinker issues which was the reason to replace it. The dome light worked but would come on with the dimmer and not turn off unless I turned the dimmer completely down. Have you had any issues like this or anyone else here in the comments that can help me troubleshoot this? It's been a blinkin' nightmare.
You may want to check the contacts on the steering column-side of the switch wiring. Make sure the contacts are clean and remove as much dust as you can. Also, while you have the steering column apart and the switch connected, reconnect your battery and try moving some of the wiring connections around to try to cause the lights to flicker or operate incorrectly. If the lights flicker by moving the wires and not the switch itself, you might be able to isolate exactly which connection is causing the problem. Hope that helps!
2018 Jeep jk steer wheel cover seems to insert into the actual steer wheel so taking off the top or bottom cover is next to impossible. Anyone run into this issue?
I was expecting more advanced solution like full disassemble of the arm (there is a small pin behind the head of the arm) fixing of the contacts inside the arm to eliminate the problem.
I'm sorry Adrian, but I can't say for sure if this exact part will work for a 2007 Jeep Patriot. However, I would imagine the process of changing out the switch would be fairly similar.
