Wow this is great! I had the luxury of cleaning up and sealing my rails when I redid all my floors, but if not, I would have definitely done it this way! More XJ owners should peek on the condition of their rails 🤪
This is a great idea. When you’re done with the mechanical agitation, use a pressure washer with a drain cleaning nozzle end to BLAST the garbage out of there. I’ve done that for years to remove mud in frame rails. Do this during the dry season as it will be dry quickly. You could also use a fan in a tube and pump dry air into thru the rail.
Also, you could improve this “rust knocker” tool by putting a rigid plastic tube like 3/8 PEX around it that is about 2/3 or 1/2 the length of the flex cable.
Another option is, you could run a Citric Acid wash inside your frame with a small circulating pump, that will clear up most of the rust, then coat afterwards.
Yes this jeep on upper belt always does have rust, I thing by little maintenance could have prevented this. even spraying some oil will prevent rust for few months.
