Much of his recorded output has been instrumental, with a focus on innovative sound, and his releases have spanned genres ranging from blues rock, hard rock, jazz fusion, and a blend of guitar-rock and electronica. Jeff Beck is considered among the greatest guitar players in history and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: as a member of the Yardbirds and as a solo artist.
Right on, great player, too bad he doesn't have any good songs so only musicians will listen, I guess that is the whole jazz fusion genre for the most part. :-(
Watching Tal in this set, not only is she technically talented far beyond her years, but she has stage presence that is beyond touch! Watching her and Jeff bounce stuff off of each other is something that goes so far beyond just the sound, these two are so closely matched that they seem to feed off the other's playing. This set is such an absolute joy to watch!!!
, nice fantasy, but this young lady busted her butt practicing for years -first as a guitarist and then moving over to the electric bass. She already had endorsements form a manufacturer BEFORE Vinnie hooked her up with Jeff. He may have helped her some (EVERY musician picks up improvements from those they work with), but she had her act together well before this!
@@s13hgp Jeff changed the way a guitar is imagined. And everyone thought Jimmie had an influence? Beck was leaving popular bands because they were not innovative enough, building hotrods seemed like a better use of his time. : ] Meanwhile Jeff was better every time you heard him. God rest his wonderful soul,
Just pure joy watching Jeff Beck is magical and then comes this brilliant young lady Tal just makes you smile, and the Drummer what else is there to say, except pure magic, R.I.P. Jeff Beck you will truly be missed and never forgotten ,Peace and Love to you all for bringing so much joy into this world through your your music, ✌❤
Tal is a joy to watch & listen to , this young Australian girl can wonder onto any stage with the very best & adds to it & dose it easy with a beautiful smile on her face ,amazing young lady.
Your preachin to the choir re: that one! Tal is beyond her years for the talent she displays. When I first saw her & Jeff, I thought to myself " where'd Jeff find this 13 y.o.?" Just an AMAZING young woman to behold!!! Chops GALORE!!!
Just KIDDING, people!!! I'm well aware of Tal's age. Have heard all of her recordings, & am BLOWN AWAY!!! Can't wait for what's next. Live, or otherwise. You go GRRRRRL!!! & Jeff, when are you coming to Mpls, MN?? (or Duluth) I'd travel what ever distance to check ur Concert! PEACE!! Coz....
Vinnie Colaiuta is the best drummer alive today imho. And Tal Wilkenfeld on bass is incredible. Jeff always plays with like musicians of above and way beyond excellent , like himself.
Your right on it man they blew DOORS that show the drummer is one of the best YOU MADE MY DAY TAL W. IS WHY I WENT BACK TO GUITAR SHES ALSO INCREDIBLE SUCH A. BEYOND WORDS BASSIST UNDERRATED SHE TRULY IS ONE OF THE BEST I'VE SEEN PLAY JUST LIKE THE OTHER TWO I WISH I WOULD OF GONE TO THAT CROSSROADS IAM NOT BUT A HALF-HOUR AWAY FROM THE FEILD THAT WAS THE SETTING FOR A SWEET DAY OF WHAT I LOVE I HAD TO PLAY THAT DAY I JUST DON'T HAVE A HEART TO LET A BUNCH OF OLDER PEOPLE DOWN I DONT LIKE TO LET ANYONE DOWN WHO LIKES OUR MUSIC ✌ PEACE TO ALL YOU MUSIC LOVERS OUT THERE !!!
@@stephengiffith1010 it was beautiful to see Tal's talent with Jeff on the scene... one of my inspirations when I was starting bass and to play guitar later on
Was at that Crossroads and remember when Beck came out with what looked like a schoolgirl on bass. During the set, Beck pushed her to an other-worldly place, and you could just see her grow on the stage as she matched him lick for lick. Beck loved it and the crowd went crazy. Best Crossroads Festival and best concert ever.
The keyboard player is WAY underrated! Having watched this entire set several times, he is just a classy journeyman player, nothing obviously flashy, he's just there doing what needs being done! Watching his interplay with both Jeff and Tal is a true joy. This entire band is just too good to believe!
I'm just days away from turning 66 and now one of greatest regrets is never being blessed to watch this master play live. I will never forget some crazy arguments with some of my Michigan friends years ago who would proclaim that Nugent was faster. RIP Jeff.
I agree that " best ' is way over used; b/c there can be only ONE best. Having said that: on very, very rare occasions, best can be established. cheers
In my dreams, I wish that I could play guitar one percent as well as Jeff Beck. But, even that small percentage is asking quite a lot of me and a lot of other people. R.I.P. 😢
Jeff was one of few that just kept getting better as he went along. I remember what a force he was in the 70’s. The 80’s comes along and he’s better. And so forth, just more amazing as he went. I am just gut wrenched over his passing. Gods blessings and love to his wife and family. I’ll never forget you Jeff, along with countless others. R.I.P. Jeff 🙏🎸
Just sadness , my childhood is slipping away , Jeff Beck was one of my all time favorites just loved him so much , I'm sure he's up there with Jimi and looking down and laughing at us , Thanks Jeff for your great music you we're one of the best guitarist that ever played the guitar !
I discovered jeff with these records with tal, so these versions always seemed more complete. it took a good 10 years for me to get into the more bluesy side not even into yard birds yet...
I miss the great Jeff Beck so much. Much thanks for all.that he shared over the many decades. A true artist always moving forward, and always taking is with him
I can’t believe it’s a month since we lost this fine human being, his huge unparalleled talent & boundless creativity. This performance, along with so many others, is a global treasure. Thanks for posting it. Rest In Eternal Music Mr. Jeff Beck.
Wow. This even more amazing to think that JB is in his early SIXTIES here!! The guy is not only ageless but just seemed to get better with every year!!
I was a farm boy at 16. Blow by Blow was left in the tractor's 8-track player that I was driving. Hooked ever since. God Speed to that jam session in the sky Jeff. 😎
When my son called me to tell me of Jeff's death, I cried ..... a couple of weeks later, my wife asked me if I was in mourning, I said No, but shortly realized I was ...... now I can't watch any of Jeff's video's without a tear ....... It may always be like that for me, I've seen Jeff many times and saw him on almost every tour since 1991, I bought my son a 1991 Fender JB Signature series guitar in the rare 'midnight purplr" color; my only regret is I never tried to get jeff to autograph the pick guard for me, RIP Maestro....... you were without peer !!!!
I'm so glad that Jeff Beck found a bass player that is not only great but makes him smile all of the time. He is always at his best with this lineup. For many years he was never happy on stage. Great to see him have fun!
I didnt get to see them together but I've been so very lucky to have seen him front row twice and believe that he is having fun up there. All ya gotta do is show him you dig him and it flips a switch. An old rocker told me that if the audience isnt as spent as the musicians then we didnt do our job. Good to hear bcuz I don't get folks who can just sit there!, not even tap a foot! What is that? He chooses the best for his groups and Tal is one world class Bassist. I do love seeing them in old vids play.
Tal could have been his daughter, in terms of age, they make a great team. The Ronnie Scott dvd (a year or twp before this show) also shows this mutual chemistry and appreciation, in spates.
@@gilafunk Oh c'mon man.....a little well deserved respect for the keys, eh? Aside fr the solid work, he would not be in that chair w/o Beck's full support. If you'll permit me a similar tone I would ...."guess you're a guitar player, hmm?".
Amazing concert. The cover of Billy Cobham’s Spectrum is sick. The second I heard Tal start that unmistakeable bass riff, I knew. This takes me way back.
Jeff Beck never sits back on his laurels, he just keeps experimenting with sound and style, there is no genre he won't tackle. Beck is truly a one off and has reached a level that few, if any, will ever be able to mimic.
I consider myself blessed to have lived in his age of music. Such an incredible master of the strings. I'm forever grateful for your talent. Somewhere in heaven there's Stage and you're rocking it. 🎼🎶
Rock in Paradise- Glad I went and seen him in Kingston 3 months ago>>>i said to my friend " We better go...it might be our last chance 78 yrs old....still blew the roof off
Admired his work from the Yardbirds, JBG, saw the Blow by Blow and Wired tours in the 70's a really unique and fabulous guitarist. He will be much missed. RIP Jeff
😎👍✝️Rest easy Jeff, we definitely will miss you. Thank you for sharing your talents with this world! Have fun jammimg with Jimi, Moonie, Bonzo, Jaco, Cozy, Peart, etc...
Always loved this set at Crossroads (and the one at Ronnie Scott's with the same lineup. Tal looks as though she's having a blast. What a gig at her age then to be playing with Jeff and Vinnie.
My two favorite shows also!! At my advanced age ( maybe I’m losing my bass hearing) this has way too much piano/ organ/ synthesizer and NOT ENOUGH TAL!!! Imelda May fits them too!
This was the best fusion setup ever. So much love in the air. They read each other like magic. My all-time fav. I have heard these songs thousand times but still I hold my breath waiting for the next note. That's Mr. Jeff Beck, the one and the only.
Never thought Jeff would have to leave but always gave his true self with perfection 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 r I p he will be missed thank you for your contribution to our hearts and soul
GTR ALIVE, so glad you uploaded this performance, and so glad that I found it. Thank you! I've uploaded it to my computer so that I, now, have it, forever. Again, thanks GTR ALIVE
Of course Jeff is always played with some of the greatest musicians on the planet but I have to admit this is one of my favorite lineups there's some magic going on. Hard to believe this man has been playing for almost 6 decades keeps getting better and better.
RIP to one of if not he mpst uncopiable, unique and mindblowing players that have and will ever exist. I'm watching and listening in awe. I had to get my jaw off the floor after that solo in 26:05.
Tal BLEW MINDS what a bunch of outright amazing gifted musicians JEFF CAN PLAY HIS SIGNATURE STYLE N SOUND THEN GOES INTO ROCKABILLY N SLEEP WALK YOUR ATTENTION IS BEYOND ANYONE ELSE YOU SAID WAS A GREAT GUITAR ICONIC PLAYER ✌
The world lost an iconic guitar player, a truly adorable man. Despite the enormous talent he had, he always remained a humble and pleasant man. What a immense loss... 😪
I think this is one of the best set up Mr Jeff Beck has have in is long carreer. Perhaps, beside Winni Collaiuta, the other are not the super big musician in the world, but the sound and the ensemble I here in all his performaces with this act is one of the best I ever heard from him. They funcion as a real "BAND" not as a single great musician. Thanks Mr Jef Beck We All miss You a lot.
Just an observation. TBH. You can ask any guitar people across all of the genres to name the top 5 guitarists they know and I am sure Jeff Beck will be on probably 99 percent of those ballots. What I love is the quality of musical excellence he surrounds himself with. I mean, he has nothing to think about but kick ass and take names, thank you very much. It is beyond great.
I think in the later years, this was Jeff's best band. The chemistry is beyond amazing. 3 accomplished musicians in their own right surrounding the genius. Jeff & Tal always seem to be having a blast playing off each other. What a Universal loss. R.I.P. Jeff.
I agree, this was the quintessential JB supergroup, Vinnie Tal Jason and JB. I was gutted for days when he died; it just was unbelievable, the guy *always* seemed in the prime of life...dayum.
Such a tragic loss. The saddest thing is that not enough people got to see his genius, myself included.Always thought he'd be around for a while longer.Truly arguably the best ever.Tal sure won't have any problem picking up a new Band but it'll be hard to duplicate the sheer joy and privilege it mustve have been to play with the Master! RIP JEFF.
Some of his stuff isn`t that easy to get into, but his skill with the guitar is undisputable, especially when you look at the session work he has done over the years. he is one of the very few guitar players that you can tell who it is after just a few notes. So sad he is gone, ok he was 78 but was as fit as a fiddle until he took bacterial meningitis - another music legend gone RIP Jeff Beck.
