Animal expert Jeff Corwin responds after a 3-year-old child got into the gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden and staff had to euthanize a 17-year-old western lowland gorilla named Harambe.
Agree but what kind of enclosure does this zoo have? It's the zoos fault too because everyone knows there are shit parents in the world and the zoo was not prepared for that.
Im not sure if you have been to a zoo. Outside parts of the zoo do not have giant domes around the animals, that would be ridiculous. They have regular barriers that are ledges people look down at the animals. The ledge is similar to ones that are on regular bridges you will see anywhere. The kid might as well have fallen off a bridge. Its the parents fault for not being with the kid. Just because its a zoo does not mean you can let your little kids run around freely. Terrible parenting. When they go to a regular park do they also not keep watch of their kid. They are lucky that kid fell into a gorilla pit and not into a body of moving water off a bridge at some park.
Nothing bad have happened for 30 years and now when some absolute idiots are fucking up, its the Zoo's fault?!! It is the mother and fathers fault easy as that, they did not watch the kid for ages most likely.
+thomyboas I understand that but when you open a zoo to the public, the zoo has to realize that there will be irresponsible parents that visit the zoo because there are tons of irresponsible parents.
Isn't it enough that there was a rail, a wire fence and a wall between the visitors and the prisoners to dissuade entry? Maybe we should put some sort of dangerous animal in there that will attack anyone who breaks in?
The world is filled with tons of horrible moms. We can do with one less. The kid... judging by his actions, I'd say its safe to assume he wont win any awards besides a Darwin one. I'm fine with the gorilla living over him. And for everyone that's gonna say; "What if that was your child?" I would have thrown the mom in there to distract the gorilla and take my son to safety. But I would have to be a pretty shitty dad to let my son drop into a Gorilla pit in the 1st place.
+Manekdk Totally Agree, just making a hypothesis about his future based on his current role models/ parents. Like I said I would sacrifice the mom all day to save him without question.
