flashback to Redlands U.80's "jazz" radio..All those L.A. players Spirogyra, Lorber et al, trying for the big fusion crossover hit quiet storm whatever genre. Basically BIG KENNY G money . more like, the Boring storm."zzzzzzzz" ...and then the dude would come at 5pm with "Stolen Moments" playing saying "the music from 1949 "round midinite". to 1963...til the recording of "Stolen Moments". i like a little fusion, a little funk, a little Maiden voyage, Red Clay, like that, but it got cheesier and cheesier and obviously just commercial by 1980, and even when guys like Brecker were playing it, Steps Ahead or Import Export, it had that little whiff of commercial cheese about it.
