In his prime here. He has his critics but, who else can produce and perform a set consisting of an almost 50/50 split of personal and other material and pull it off ? Who else has forged one of the most prolific and successful techno labels of all time ? This guy does it from concept to finsihed article i.e from start to finish. He is an innovator, a creator and a performer. I saw him live in 96 at the Arena in Glasgow and the set was virtually identical. then and now he continues to be awesome.
If you would just listen to the music and not know when the set was made you could just say it's fresh. Great music great mixing. The man is incredible
Jeff Mills was and is so far ahead of his time, it's ridiculous. I have had the pleasure to see him live 3 times, and each time was just as good or better than the last. He's the only techno DJ/producer that I have seen where the promoter gets the equipment to match Jeff's style: 3 decks, a Vestax mixer and a TR-909. I felt sorry for any of the DJ's that had to follow up after his set.
well i don't agree that much... i've never had the possibility to see Jeff Mills live but i know that he is a god...about richie i've seen him 4 times and yes, he is good but he is definately not that skilled and magda as well...she is really good but now like the best dj in the world...if u want to see some seriously skilled djs then go watch for like ben sims...dj murphy...technasia...but also carl craig robert hood and the belleville three... respect for the music keep it techno
i was there at the arena in 96. QUALITY not much else to say :) such an up close and personal gig , shook jeffs hand at the end of his set. saw him at the arches but was nowhere near as good as in the arena.
first track is "the other day" ep and btw this is that track and not the mix. in the mix, this track is very cleverly mixed and not here as you may understand
