Jeff Paterson on what went wrong for the Canucks vs. Oilers, fixing the power play, playoff vibes 

Canucks weren’t the full meal deal, the team needs a couple of more seasons to gel, especially with two awesome goalies.

I don’t know how many times i yelled “just shoot it”! But no, it gets winged around the boards to the guy on the other side, but now two guys are fighting for it! You HAD a great chance for a slap but threw it away. Way too much trying for that perfect shot in front of the net.

the powerplay was the big difference. We had no powerplay for one quarter of the year. Petterson lost his mojo and didnt get it back.

Nucks offence dried up in the 2nd half mostly due to Petey playing a game of "hot potato".

The PK on that 3rd goal was so sad. Leon had enough time to Uber a pizza. Contrast that to the oilers PK where they pressured the Canucks to no end and the Canucks couldn’t handle it.

I used to follow sports, but it's a waste of time invested in entertainment. My analysis is the team with most points wins. Like politics.

Its interesting to see the disconnect between the players and the media, especially in the interviews they give. The players are in their own world, figuring out what to do playing hockey, while the media, with the scraps of info they are given, pretend to be experts on what is "going on". Also I find it interesting that in game six, the Oilers simply crushed the Canucks 5 to 1 and then in the 1st and 2nd periods of game 7, took a controlling lead of 3-0. Its pretty amazing what they did. From my perspective, the Oilers at this point in game 7, simply having had figured out how to play the Canucks, simply took a break and set in to hold off the Canucks until the buzzer rang. The Oilers are a really unique team and they want the cup.....and one should not underestimate them.

Something is wrong with Petey, he is just to good to be as bad as he has been for the later part of this year. I sometimes wonder if he has tuned out JT, or Tocchet, or is it his love for hockey....he looks aweful and tough to watch. This is a kid nicknamed "The Alien", something is wrong, what is it?
