Former Jehovah's Witness elder/bethelite is discussing his own personal experience about what he knows about the practices and policies of the Watchtower, Bible & Tract Society.
This video goes into more details about my Bethel experience by discussing what it was like meeting the friends in my congregation.
I discuss:
Congregation assignments
Meeting the friends
Surviving Bethel and receiving assistance from the older friends
Learning and understanding the culture at Bethel for compensating those providing transportation
Determining whether to bring car to Bethel
Learning how to conduct myself in the Big Apple coming from North Carolina

I attended the Brooklyn Heights right at Bethel. We live in Greenwich Village, but we were assigned to the Brooklyn Heights. I got married at Bethel (1969} , even though I was pioneering serving in Alabama. We had many bethelites in our home. In fact my sister married a bethelite. They later served as special pioneer in St Lucia. She and I faded over 25+ years ago.

Hi JT and Lady Cee! I am Lopes and i speak from Angola (Africa); Thanks for waking me up and ilustrating for me the F.O.G wich lead me to read Crises of Conscience, some Steve Hassan articles as well yours. Thank to this, both my familly, friends and I are out of the organisation and many more are waking up.

Congratulations on your awakening from Angola! Welcome to your freedom! And our continuing hopes and prayers that many more awaken throughout Africa to get out of the watchtower cult! Greetings from Wisconsin, U.S.A! When I came into JW in the 1990's in Chicago we had many African immigrants in the congregation. Good, hard-working people! Fond memories!

I served in Patterson, NY and my congregation was a hour and a half away in Connecticut. I liked my congregation but that drive was a killer. Also I was born and raised in the hood in Chicago so I was very down to earth, but a lot of people in the congregation acted very reserved and shy around me or like I was Jesus himself because I had that "bethelite" title when all I wanted to do was keep it real. When I transferred to a Spanish congregation they had a homemade hot meal ready for us at the end of every weekday meeting. My English congregation had 4 bethelites and the Spanish had 8

Haha Haha. J.T. you're right about speaking to people in the city. I was born and raised in Boston. Rode the T...what we called the subway...everywhere. My mom is from Alabama and I live in Texas now. I grew not speaking to anyone and somewhat still dont today. In the Northeast stranger's dont say ANYTHING. No good morning, no hello, no how you doing. If you're not from the northeast it can come across as a very cold and unloving world. We walked to the meetings in Boston and for my cousin and I that was rough. Because dudes would clown us, say we were 'too good' because we had our 'church clothes' on. Living in the northeast is a whole different animal from the south. My aunt was always in a congregation in the hood and I remember hearing gun shots during a meeting and us seeing a guy get stabbed walking home from a meeting one night. Once I got down south it was literally night and day. Definitely less stressful. Boston will always be home, but the northeast can burn you out. Everywhere else...especially down south is like 100mph slower.

Wow JT. About 8 years ago I went to NY to film a music video for a artist that lives in Brooklyn. I never been there before. I saw the artist on BET show contest. He didnt win but I wanted to collab with his talent anyway. It was the second day shoot there and my crew member said to me look. I did and we were right to that scripture that Bethle has on the side of the building. I saw Bethle. Manhattan so big it scared me big time. I want to film on top of a large building so the artist and his people took us to Harlem. I forgot which building it was but it wasn't too far from popeyes chicken were we ate. Police helicopters was over us on the roof. They didnt get us a permit but after the police saw how professional all my gear was and saw me started filming with my crew they just left us alone. I was also nice to the people up there and they looked at me crazy. But my experience up there was unbelievable. I want to go again but this time to enjoy it not work this time.

It's awesome to hear what really goes on within the organization that it is not as sweet and innocent as they try and make it out to be. With JWs image is everything so ones who don't get to go to Bethel will never know what really happens less someone comes forward and shares their story. I remember when I was a kid my Dad got the videos that was about Bethel how wonderful it was and all the publications and so on. I remember I thought to myself that I wanna go there when I did thought that, this was during the mid to late 80's when I saw that video.

My dad was Cajun French, and he went to Bethel. People made fun of his Cajun accent so much that he practiced every day until he lost the accent. So I grew up with a Cajun father who didn't sound Cajun at all -- until he started speaking French to the relatives, and then it came out thick and heavy!
@greyberet1
@greyberet1 Год назад
I’m an exjw, raised in Montreal, where the French spoken is Québécois French, and I have a hard time understanding the French spoken by “Cajuns”, which is a corruption of the word “Acadian” 😆. Just as the French accent and vocabulary spoken by those in New Brunswick differs from the French spoken in Quebec and even, to some extent, in Ontario… By the way, I remember Dan Sydlik, he stayed at our house during Expo ‘67, quite a character 😆.

Those unwritten rules were no joke. I got in trouble for giving a sister who was the cousin of a brother I worked with a one on one tour. Bethel also has unwritten rules on jewelry that brothers can wear. I didn't know brothers were only allowed to wear 2 or less rings and a watch as jewelry. So I came to Bethel with a gold chain and got in trouble for that. Then once time a housekeeper found a GQ magazine I had bought because I wanted to make a cocktail recipe that was in there. All hell broke loose over that GQ magazine which is viewed as porn in Bethel. I had to have a hour long meeting with my home overseer over a magazine I didn't know was banned in Bethel. I had to almost beg not get sent home for having it

Bethel is where the printing of the watchtower and awake magazine are printed and shipped. There will be boxes of these shipped to congregation all over us but also many people had a subscription to these do these are shipped to individual homes, one magazine o week. Also books are made printed there. Before these are done, they have to be entered in the computer and this is very busy place. Then you have housekeepers and the people who work in the kitchen. They gave to prepare 3 meals a day and then have all the cleaning to do. All the machines have to be maintained, and keep in mind, alot of time is spent changing clothes. If you work in regular clothes, before you eat lunch you have to change into suit and tie. Then go change back to work clothes and change again for dinner. Don't ask me why, I always thought that was the stupidest thing to do.

Jay, Greetings Mr. Comedian. I don't know why I can't leave you alone. I just relate to you. But see what you think about this Bible teaching which JWs have no clue about. In Jesus day, there were two groups of Christians; those who would live out a normal life and die of old age and then need resurreecteing, and some who were chosen never to die at all, but live down to the time of Christ in the 21st Century. Now the main reason for this was the 144,000. You see, God took 90% of the kingdom away from the Jews (Isa. 6:13) but allowed the Abrahamic covenant to be fulfilled with 10% through the 12 tribes of Israel, the 144,000. Problem is, the 12 tribes did not exist as 12 tribes in Jesus' day, but individuals from the 12 tribes did. So the decision was made to choose some from each tribe who had genealogy papers and have them live down to our time and then marry into indigenous tribes, have multiple wives and children in the first generations and then within a couple hundred years re-produce the 12 tribes of Israel (Isaiah 60:22 "The little one will become a thousand... I will speed it up in its own time."). But inaddition to those who would re-create the 12 tribes of Israel in our time, other individuals were chosen never to die. Those included the Apostle John, Jesus' mother Mary, and the Apostle Paul. Now 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18 clearly shows that Paul included himself among those who would not die but would "survive" down to our time. (1 Thess. 4:15-18 "...WE the living who survive down to the Lord's day..") But the question came up as to who would end up in heaven first, those who would be resurrected or those who were still alive at Christ's return? A good question! Paul explained that no one would precede anyone else to heaven, but that those who were dead in Christ would rise first back into a physical body to join those still alive, then some time "afterwards" all would be changed into spiritual bodies. But then the question arises "How long afterwards"? Turns out it would be over 1000 years! The "rapture" of the saints into spiritual bodies does not occur until after Judgment Day, which is after the 1000-year reign of Christ. Of course, this is another false teaching by the WTS, that Judgment Day and the second resurrection would occur during the 1000-year reign of Christ. Wrong! Nobody is resurrected during the 1000-year reign of Christ. The dead in Christ get an early resurrection and rule with Christ for 1000 years, then after Satan is destroyed, Judgment Day occurs along with the second resurrection. After the last person has been killed in the lake of fire and Judgment Day is over, then the saints, currently all in physical bodies along with Christ himself, get changed into spiritual their bodies "together." Now this is what the Bible teaches. It is either REAL, or it's not. In my case, being one of the "anointed" and Jesus Christ as well, I get a lot of inside stuff thrown at me. One of those things is meeting John, Paul and Mary, still alive from the 1st Century! Plus since the first resurrection occurs just before the second coming, I also am aware of the new identities of a few Bible characters, including Daniel and the Apostle Peter. Which is another specific Bible truth; the sainthood of faithful ones of old, like Abraham, Daniel and Moses. When God resurrects the saints, he does not resurrect their bodies! 1 Corinthians 15:37 clearly says that "as for what you sow, you sow, NOT THE BODY... but the BARE GRAIN." What is a person without their body?: Their mind and memory. Verse 38 says, "but God gives it a body just as it has pleased him, and to each of the seeds its own body." Meaning? In modern vernacular, it means God downloads the memories and minds of the saints into modern bodies, just like information was downloaded into the mind in the "Matrix." That means the resurrected peron has a modern, living body and a new identity. It means there are no years wasted educating them to adapt to the modern world, they have access to a modern mind and knowledge. Plus the 1st resurrection is entirely invisible!!! That, again, means that if Christ appeared in December of 1992, then the 1st resurrection had taken place before then. So, of course, being the Christ, I got a chance to know some of the new identities of some Bible characters, like Daniel and the Apostle Peter!! They all have new bodies and identities now. And this means what to you? You can't believe any of this. You've rejected the Bible as untrue and unreliable. So now you have something else to deny isn't real. That the 1st resurrection doesn't exist and didn't take place and that nobody from the 1st Century is still alive today. Hahaha. But, of course, I know the Bible is true and that is precisely what has happened. But you'd have to take my word for it. Point being, I wouldn't have discovered these things in the Bible unless I had a partial experience with them, like meeting Mary and John! So my whole experience of being of the "anointed" is a whole different world than those of you who are not chosen. In fact, it would seem as though God has deliberately blinded the minds of the non-believers so that real spiritual things seem like complete nonsense to them. So as I said, I'm at the opposite end of the pole when it comes to being an XJW. Some come out as atheists, not believing in the Bible or even God. Some believe in a divine being but not the Bible. I believe the Bible and have proof of everything being true, even getting a chance to meet some people who are still alive from the 1st Century, as well as some newly resurrected ones in a new body! Isn't that amazing? Now you don't have to believe I've met these people or that these people are still supposed to be alive. All you need to know is that the Bible makes that claim, so you now have something else to dismiss as a non-reality; even though it actually IS a reality. Bottom line, the "anointed" get more the light and more modern miracles, but everybody else remains in darkness. That darkness now overshadows the GB and the WTS!! They have no clue Paul is still alive, even though it is right there in their Bibles. They have no idea the 1st resurrection is just of the mind and memory and not the body. Of course, if everybody is back in a physical body first, when Abraham, Isaac and Jacob get resurrected back into a physical body, there is nothing preventing them from being anointed by holy spirit, right? After all, the only requirement for getting anointed into the kingdom is being alive again in a physical body after Pentecost. So all those faithful men of old, Abraham and Daniel and others who come back in a physical way at the 1st resurrection will get anointed retroactively and end up in the kingdom spiritual class. So even though the WTS clearly reads how many see "Abraham, Isaac and Jacob" (Matt. 8:11, 12)) sitting in the kingdom but the "sons of the kingdom" (meaning the anointed GB and other anointed "foolish virgins") will be outside. That is, clearly Abraham and many other faithful ones of old are in the heavenly kingdom! That's another one of the WTS' false teachings. Can you imagine thinking Abraham, Moses and Daniel won't be part of the heavenly class? Of course they are part of the hevenly class! But that is not something JWs were given to understand; that is, until now. Now they can understand the GB is a false prophet and not teaching the whole truth. Imagine the 12 tribes of Israel now existing, but the WTS wasn't told about it!!! Well, that's enough for now. While you're driving your car, you can be wondering if I'm pulling your leg or telling the truth. I'll be laughing too, since I know the truth. Everybody needs a good laugh everyday, right? Have a great day!!!
