Former Jehovah's Witness elder/bethelite is discussing his own personal experience about what he knows about the practices and policies of the Watchtower, Bible & Tract Society.
In this video, we use critical thinking to examine the teaching of Jehovah’s Witnesses where they state that the Biblical reference of 144,000 people that will go to heaven is a literal number. According to the Watchtower, there has only been the Heavenly Calling for anyone who became a Christian from the 1st century up to the 19th century. We demonstrate that if this teaching is true, it means that Jesus Christ had less than 144,000 disciples following him from Pentecost of 33 C.E. up to the 19th century. But you have to ask the “critical thinking question” is this teaching supported by historical records?
We demonstrate how the Watchtower uses historical records and data discussing how individuals became Christians throughout the years. However, when the number of people outnumbers their literal 144,000 teaching, they changed their opinion about those people, thus referring to them as professed Christians.

This has truly helped me. I was raised in the teaching of JW...got baptized...defellowshipped twice...placed on public reproof and private. I stopped going in 2004. I always felt guilty about stumbling as a JW and being labeled bad association. I did not study with or raise my daughter with the same teachings although we went to the kingdom hall until she was 10. I wrestled with the thoughts of going back because "it's the truth". My mom died 2 years ago and my family kept telling me to get myself together so I can see my mom again in the new system. I seriously cried because I love my mom but always questioned this religion. After watching your videos has helped me know I'm not crazy or a horrible person for questioning this religion. I can rest knowing I will not be returning to the kingdom hall.

Sorry for your loss! It’s so sad that this religion makes people feel so bad because they don’t believe in all of their lies. They make people feel like they will never see their loved ones again for not following their teachings. Beautifully explained. No malice just excellent reasoning. I feel so sad for all the dear brothers and sisters who were denied their calling. My mother was Jewish and lost out on the vine . My father came out of SDA and lost out on the olive tree grafting. Lets hope Our Lord who knows all things disentangles this mess for the generation trapped now in wtower. I remember asking my bible teacher this question when he invited the CO over to my house, and when I raised the question he shut me down and said "We discussed this subject!" What they can do is believe what God's word says literally. It clearly says in Revs 7 and 14 that they are Jews from the twelve tribes of Israel. These have been accepting Jesus as their Saviour more and more over the last few decades. There are now around 200,000 Messianic Jews and growing.

I had asked an elder how do the 144000 sit before the 24 elders If They are the same and instead of answering he kept saying you can't take it literally. Thanks so much for this Video. My Wife and myself woke up after 37years as their member and start to Researches the Teachings of JW. 2019 came an Article in the Watchtower which said that the Governing Bodies are not inspired by God. So, we started to think that if they are not inspired, who gave them all the Untruthful Teachings they have been giving us all these Years. We are all in these Years being told to burn Books which are no more needed for the new Light. We know know that their starting to cover their Untruthful Teachings. So bye Dec 2029 we left the Cult after 37years of using our Time, Energy, money etc to served them. Many people here in Germany where we leaved and served are now waking up with the Teachings of the Cult

This is actually the teaching that woke me up. I read Romans 8. Did research. Realised that the teaching is unbiblical. Then decided to leave. When I was chatting with the elders to tell them that i am disassociating, we discussed this topic. Their arguments were generic and when I countered all their reasonings on it, "such as if the 144000 is literal them how come the 12 tribes it is made of aren't?" Or Rev 19 where it says the great crowd are in heaven, the elders couldn't answer. They actually stopped wanting to discuss scripture. They asked me whether i was drinking from the cup of Satan after that, to which I replied that if I want to leave because of the bible then Jehovah was leading me away. To which they said I was arrogant for thinking I know better than 8 million witness to which I replied "then arent the witnesses arrogant for claiming to know more that the catholic church?". They left. They were in it for the emotion not because the bible is true. That is why they will never discuss the bible deeply. They seek the hope that the Governing Body gives them not truth.

I remember when we encountered a person in field service who we deemed mentally unstable or especially hostile we were advised to write the person's address down and report it to the elders. The elders would then advise all the brothers and sisters working that street to bypass that address in the future. JT and Lady C, your address is about to be added to the list! Not because they are concerned with you becoming violent, but because you are using way too much logic!!! LOL! Keep the videos coming folks!

JT And Lady C. I’ve downloaded all your podcasts so far and listen to them on my way to work. I drive an hour one way to work. I’ve laughed out loud so often at your show. And I thank you for voicing some of what I want to say. It validates me as an xjw. I’m a 4th generation born in fully shunned. Very good vid... my aunt claimed to be one of the anointed. She came around preaching to my family in the early 70’s about the 75 Armageddon that never took place. Sadly many are still stuck in the religion and believe in the new light doctrine. We need to pray for those that are trapped within. Be blessed

Here's another massive hole in their 144,000 theology: JWs teach that Abraham's seed ultimately refers to Jesus + the 144,000. But remember that God compared the number of Abraham's seed to the stars of the heavens. God was clearly emphasizing that his seed will amount to vast quantity that no man can number - you know, like the Great Crowd which no man can number, mentioned at Revelation. The Great Crowd of Revelation is clearly an allusion to Abraham's seed for it explicitly says no man can number it. The author of Revelation is really making the point that Abraham's seed will comprise a faithful remnant of Jewish Christians (the 144,000) who will be joined by countless Gentile Christians who will be grafted in. It's basically the same point Paul makes at Romans 11. So put on your critical thinking caps, JWs, and wake up from your Watchtower-induced slumber!

Caribbean Man So there is no difference betwen the "Little flock and the Big crowd". They are all Christians, deciples to Jesus. Thats what I thought. By the way, you could hardly count 144.000 people in a crowd.

@@billyroland2758 No. A lot of the imagery in Revelation is drawn from OT texts. Revelation 7 is showing the fulfillment of the passages in Genesis that say: "Your seed will be like the stars of the heavens for number" and "by means of your seed all the nations of the earth will bless themselves". Yes they are all one as Ephesians say. But Revelation is showing a distinction so the reader can discern the connection to the promises in Genesis about Abraham's seed and the nations of the earth. Also, even while showing a distinction, Revelation could also be hinting at a merger because you will notice that John hears the number that are sealed but he doesn't see them all he sees is a great crowd without number. This could be hinting at the fact that the 144,000 are discreetly merged into that crowd.

Amazing - always had so many questions about this topic. I woke up just under a year ago - largely thanks to your channel and a few others. My paternal Grandad professed to be of the annointed and when he passed i always believed i would never see him again as he would rule in heaven with Christ and i would be living on earth. However, i could never get my head around the fact that mainly JWs would make up the majority of the144 000 when i knew so many Christians lived and died as matyrs in the earlier centuries before Russell came on the scene. Watchtower Examination, I think it an act of true humility, and camaraderie that you are willing to direct people to another person’s channel. Outstanding! Thank You! The facts speak for themselves BUT ...as explained by JT we believed/believe these WT teachings because critical thinking is thwarted in multiple ways and with negative consequences to anyone who dare take the leap. We took in the promises and that made it so much easier and natural to 'drink the Kool-Aid' even if it may not have tasted right. I share this channel regularly because of the sincerity of the moderators and the fact-driven content. You are opening minds that have been and are trapped in a well-organized web of deceit and corruption. This channel is among the very best resources for honest hearted people (which encompasses the majority of Jehovah's Witnesses) who need a resource to trust and promote life-saving critical thought. Thank you for this great video! The thorough research is deeply appreciated! Great team work, in my opinion the video presented historical data that is unknown to thousands of people, this information could be the theme for a future book: based on the life's and struggles of christians pertaining to the 1st century. The watchtower society continuously ignores history, and when the "historical dates" won't fit its agenda, conveniently will switch to "bible chronology ". This is a technique very popular among the jws followers.

I was raised in "the truth", and ever since I was a teenager, I'm 35 now, I always said to myself that there is absolutely no way in the world there wasn't at least 144,0000 "true" Christians for the past 2000 years with all the billions who were alive. It's basically impossible with or without the math to say there wasn't at least 144000 because it goes against common sense

Thank you. Daniel, Lady C and JT. Great video. Your explanation of the 144,000 is brilliant and timeless. Jehovah's Witnesses are blind as a bat. Like Daniel said, when emotion is up, logic is down. I too used to wonder why in 2000 years only 144000 were true christians. It didn't make sense. The math didn't add up. But since we were in the truth, so we thought, there were other goodies to think about. God bless, guys. Amador, Kingdom Christian.

Excellent topic very well done. One thing that I realized that you pointed out in the video, it wasn't until Pentecost or 50 days after the Lord's evening meal that the holy spirit was poured out anointing Christians for the heavenly hope. So those who partook of the emblems at the first memorial were not of the heavenly hope.

Gentle and compassionate explanation as always. No ranting or adding in your own beliefs just pure facts and logic. I listen to your channel but hadn't seen this video as of yet. Winston from Watchtower Examination did a video pointing to your channel for this video. I always point JW's to the fact that the 144,000 are from the 12,000 from the 12 tribes of Israel. One told me that they are "spiritual Isreal"...hmmm that is LDS teaching as well! So I asked her what tribe was she from...I got a blank stare. I had always known that the 144,000 seats were taken long before Russell came on the scene according to their teachings and history but seeing it in black and white really makes a big differrnce!!! Oh but to live on paradise earth. I could never figure out why someone would want to live on earth instead of heaven in God's presence. As a Christian I believe it is the literal number of the ones who will begin preaching Christ's salvation after the Christians have been taken to heaven in the second coming of Christ. I do not believe that Christ would have lied to the Apostle John. He saw things heavenly that he could only describe in human terms and knowledge. Bless you both for committing to a ministry that is changing lives one at a time.

Th only time I hear from my Mom is inviting me to the Memorial. I dont go because it would only be to please her and after, I still would not receive unconditional love from her. I stopped subjecting myself to that long ago.

We are a family, but we don't share the same beliefs!! I feel good about my situation, too. God works in mysterious ways 🤪😁😂

@@joycefinney2735 No I can't say that it had occurred to me. I grew up studying and believing what I was told as a child. I left in my early 20s, some 25 years ago. It's been only recently that I have started to research what it was I grew up believing because my adult son started to ask me questions that I couldn't answer. For me though now, it's been a mission for me to find truthful answers, so I appreciate the people that post content like this and not only explain it well but of course point back at WT for what their teachings were or are. I have to say my burning question was actually 1914 because we grew up believing that was the generation that would not pass away, and well we all know how that turned out.

Lesley Rich You could start by reading John’s Gospel in a KJV bible.After that Matthew’s Gospel then Romans.You would by then have found the real Jesus.But.....by accepting that the Lord Jesus,died on the cross and by the spilling of His blood takes away our sins.He was buried and on the third day rose bodily and now sits at the right hand of God,until he comes again to make all His enemies His footstool. The JWs have been saying for years that it could be any time.But the signs are all here NOW.....ACCEPT THE LORD TODAY AND BE ASSURED OF EVERLASTING LIFE......IT’S A FREE GIFT GIVEN BY HIS GRACE.

long story ,short. visited by elder on the ministry just before memorial 2019. Now, I have not been to the hall for 3 years, the last time I had regular contact with anyone was my "best friend" in the cong. I worked with him for years... cleaning... drum roll... windows. That contact was a yr ago . He just stopped calling , txting etc.. Here's the kicker.. all at the hall knew I was struggling with anxiety and depression. I have been in the cong for 28 yrs.. In the last 3 years ..not one phone call, spur of the moment visit, email or txt from ANYONE other than the guy I worked with.........MMMM fell the love in the room !!!

I wish that were so. The rank and file Jehovah witnessess just can't see it. It doesn't compute. And just when you think that they are starting to get it. They will say, but who goes from door to door? You just hit a wall. Because it doesn't matter how crazy their teachings are, going door to door corrects everything. The generation that will not pass away. But, they go from door to door. They were members of the United Nations until they were caught. But, they go from door to door. They have covered up child sexual abuse for years. But, they go from door to door. They have and still do break up families because of their shunning disfellowshiping policies. But, they go from door to door. All of their false prophecies. But, they go from door to door. You see, going from door to door forgives a multitude of sins. The 144,000 teaching is just one thing in a long list. After all, they go from door to door.

CT Russell had all with the heavenly hope when he died he had women and men he wanted to take the publishing company. Rutherford TOOK over, and in 1935 he had the 2 groups idea. hope that helps.
