I watched the show recently on the Rhino DVD set and the rest on the Shout DVDs since it's not online but I haven't seen it in a few years prior to getting the DVDs x-x I'm still in my 20s though so I'm not from the 80s but I still love this show and miss it even after seeing it again ;-;

Tell me about it! My feet can't stop tapping to the sweet beat of it! When you have the words ""TRULY OUTRAGEOUS" and "THE MUSIC'S CONTAGIOUS" ingrained in your THEME SONG... you better have the moxie to back it up! And this song, delivers on the goods, big time!!!
Since we're addressing how Britta Phillips had a cold at the time of her recording, then wouldn't that be "guess snot"? Naturally, I don't mean any disrespect or anything... it's just I couldn't let such an obvious joke pass without touching on it.
Most of the cartoons that targeted young-girls didn't ring my chimes, but Jem was a show I watched a lot. I guess maybe because it was more action-packed than the typical-cartoon catered towards girls. Maybe because of the technology-aspect with Synergy and the earrings and all that. Maybe because it had the same vibe as the other cartoons from Hasbro such as G.I. Joe and Transformers and it got cool-points just by association. I don't know. I probably just watched it because Jem was fine. :0)
Same reason here I first watched G1 transformers then gijoe and then finally got into jem because of the association of those shows collaboration with Hasbro
When this came out, 4 the very 1st time Barbie faced a serious threat 2 her throne! I was working a toy aisle in 1987-1988, & young girls everywhere had dropped Barbie like a hot potato & were going crazy over Jem, & Mattel was having serious conniptions, they were absolutely PANICKED! But then... suddenly, somehow... it all ended as quickly as it began. 4 some reason, reaching the year 1990 seemed 2 be a lightswitch, as practically overnight Jem & her audience had virtually disappeared. Much 2 the relief of Mattel, of course 😂
That would've been on the DISCOVERY FAMILY NETWORK, today's name for The Hub after Liberty Global bought an + 10% from Hasbro to take control (60-40) of the channel. And that probably was when TH/DFN showed them at 0630 (EDT/EST) every day of the week. Now, they're only on Netflix US as of this writing.
@@EpixAndroid - well, there not there anymore, but Fox-owned Tubi FREE STREAMING SERVICE got 'em (along with GI Joe: ARAH, Transformers G1 and quite a few others) for US and Canada. But be warned, the visual quality "left a little to be desired"...

I used to rent the VHS tapes on the down low when I was 5. My parents somehow never questioned it. The music and flash colors really drew me into that world. A core memory that was buried for 25 years. I’m 30 now and rediscovered the show via Tubi. Sat through the whole thing twice. Even the later episodes that I never got to see as a kid like the finale somehow struck me with a nostalgia bolt. My girlfriend thinks I’m crazy lol
For someone who, just recently came in contact with the show. I checked out the series, and it wasn't that bad I'm surprised it's a hidden gem to behold here. My favorite season is season 2 overall with character development and everything. the finale of the series was tied up pretty well, overall not a bad series from the 80's decade watching it all for the 1st time, I even liked some of the song's.

I'm too addicted to the cartoon and the songs to stop now. Please do the same thing with We're Making it Happen, Destiny, and When It's Only Me and the Music.

Awesome! Nice find and a great remix from it. I've heard some of that guitar solo from the instrumental before, but the audio quality was never that good. Makes me wonder what kind of extended remixes you could do from your high quality vocal/instrumentals of the other Jem songs...
This is interesting when you look at the picture in the clip. Aja is playing the drums and Shana is playing the guitar and if anyone remembers the episode where Shana wanted to have a turn on the drums before she left the band to go design outfits for Liz Stratton, so when Kimber said that couldn't play drums because she had to play the keyboards and then Aja said that she was hopeless on drums. I wonder who did the artwork for that particular picture and switched Aja and Shana's roles in the band.
I don’t know the origin of this picture, but I can imagine it was from before production started and they were in early stages of development of the characters. Back then, when Jem was still Misty or M, before they made changes to what we know now.
@@jfmax2000 I‘m still in doubt about that. In the master recording background vocal you can clearly hear her singing M instead of Jem dripping through very silent. Which would mean, she recorded the theme song differently before it was renamed to Jem. They just used the already existing background vocals, which also means this couldn’t have been her audition because she sang it before. Then again. This happened 100 years ago. Maybe she can’t clearly remember anymore how it happened.

like many 80s shows...the theme song is a lot better than it deserved...I only ever heard it as a trailer on one of my transformer tapes and still sing it to myself doing housework
I remember back when we sold the toys that each doll came with a song on cassette! Cute touch! But it doesn't look like any1 has ever bothered 2 retelease all of them as an album on iTunes or something?
I watched this when I was veeerrryyyy young(7yo?), and I would always dance and sing this. Maybe like 6 years later (13yo) I would sing a tune and wonder where I got it from cuz I had forgotten this, now MORE years later which is now(16yo), I finally found it 😭 im so happy
I always loved all the songs on the show especially this one it's my favorite. I wish people who love the song would watch the show it's really good although I do get the criticism of the third season.
