Because the show cleverly mixed romance with action and balanced the two perfectly to not alienate the boys. Plus, lets be honest, the storytelling and characters were top notch so kept everyone coming back for more...especially because Jem perfected the art of the cliffhanger!
I'm an Algerian-French from the suburbs of Paris. This song is definitely my favourite one of the "Jem & the Holograms" show, as it describes well how you feel when you are wandering alone in the cold streets of my beautiful Paris. A song full of deep meanings.
I still listen to this song before every international flight I fly (Flight Attendant) lol! I spent Christmas in Paris and had this playing in my AirPods as I walked from the Eiffel Tower to the Arch de Triumph

I think you did great. It sounds clear and crisp and fresh. It might be an odd thing to mention, but I never heard the extra percussion parts (like the bongos/tablas) so clear before.
At risk of flying my geek flag, I fell in love with Jem when this show came out. Never missed an episode, be it actual broadcast or in syndication. And I understand that she was animated by none other then Smilin' Stan Lee and the old Marvel Studios. The one that did GI JOE and THE TRANSFORMERS. Great job Stan, made me smile. There, I said it. That's right I was in love with a cartoon. I was dabbling in watercolors. But I don't care. I was, I am and I still am. On or anniversary, my wife dressed up as her for me. And even though we lived in AZ at that time, it was like "Twilight in Paris". And later that night, it truly was "Like a dream". In short, that woman had me screaming "Outrageous" all night long. No one else was the same, that night 'Jem' was her name. And we've been together 26 years. Thanks Jem
One of the Jem songs that has the best instrumental track! I have the cassette that came with the instrumental version of this song and I'm always in awe of its musical arrangement.
Beautifully done! It always seemed to me that the horns in this song always overpowered the other instruments and vocals, but it's nicely leveled here. Indeed, a great song made better.
I'm curious, when you say "mastertape instrumentals", are you referring to the instrumental versions from the doll cassettes? I heard they sometimes had "karaoke" versions with no vocals on the B-sides of the tapes. I've never seen the doll cassettes in person so they're kind of like Bigfoot to me. :)
jasonfinley235 i have all the original dolls still and their cassettes, the b side does have the instrumental version. I used to strut around in my bedroom with my karaoke machine when i was a kid to these songs, im surprised the tapes still work.
Both the cartoon and the songs are my drugs of choice. Keep providing the musical drug, please. I'm far too addicted to the cartoon and the songs to stop now.
