Fun fact: after drawing all three of their group games at the 2010 World Cup (Paraguay, Slovakia, and Italy), New Zealand's FA released a commemorative DVD titled 'Undefeated'. No other team at that World Cup could have released a DVD of the same name.
@@martinwebb4897 If I recall correctly their angle was more that they were the only one of the 32 teams to go undefeated in that World Cup (pretty sure that's correct, but happy to be challenged on it).
@@chrisgreenhough2792 you are correct in relation to the 2010 World Cup but Nieve's guess of Angola would have been 2006 & no actual World Cup was specified. Scotland 1974 Cameroon 1982 England 1982 Belgium 1998 All fit as unbeaten teams in group play (England in 2 group phases in 82) who didn't reach the knockout phase.
@@dylansharkey6040I did not. But then again, what's the chance two people, who are known for something completely different, and one of them was a professional goalkeeper, share another football trivia?
@@knuble I knew that Conan Doyle played under a pseudonym to escape any fans/media being aware.. I thought maybe it might have been the same thing with Bohr, as a known physicist.. I thought it might have just been that he also played football as a hobby or professionally, I wasn't expecting the specificity of the position to be what they were looking for
I saw a documentary about him recently, and saw that he played under a pseudonym so as to avoid the press. Didn't remember that he played in goal, but had no idea about Niels Bohr - i remember him coming up in my chemistry classes about the structure of atoms or something, along with 4 other guys that built on his (or someone else's) work.
@@dylansharkey6040I got that. ACD had been in goal for Portsmouth as well as taking 1 first class wicket as a cricketer (the batsman was WG Grace). Niels Bohr & his brother were both played football and his brother was involved in the 1908 Olympic Final.
I don't even like football but your videos are always really interesting and funny and I start to understand the fandom and what makes it so cool, so thank you for that 😊
Love the shirt. Miss your match day vlogs. Really enjoyed your recent video about FC Basel. We need more of you. Best pundit out there. Genuinely don’t understand how you haven’t been snapped up by Sky or TNT (BT Sports) because your football knowledge eclipses the ones currently there. I’d love to see you on BBC with Alan and Gary.
As a fan of La Liga, I was so glad, and frankly quite impressed, that you knew the Atletico Madrid one haha But great series, I'm really looking forward to more episodes
Love this format! I think giving points for correct answers rather than money would make more sense. Makes the numbers smaller and easier to follow when ‘gambling’ the points!
The official England and tournament song for Euro 96 was not ‘Three Lions’, but was actually a dreadful Simply Red song called ‘We’re in this together’. They didn’t even play ‘Three Lions’ at Wembley during the first match but because the crowd kept singing it played it at all the remaining matches.
A'reyt Nieve. Here's what you could have won! I amazed myself at knowing a lot of these from watching your channel, but also US football channels on RU-vid and being older than your average subscriber. That shirt would be great for Bradford (Park Avenue). It was like watching a Bradford derby this weekend with Motherwell v Celtic.
8:20 well actually there's a movie about das Wunder von Bern (Germny's world cup win 1954) i which a swiss woman says that to the german manager of 1954
A question for all. In the 2010 World Cup Finals New Zealand were the only unbeaten team but if qualification is included (NZ lost a match against Fiji) who were the only unbeaten team?
The answer to this was British Virgin Islands who drew twice against The Bahamas (both matches were played in the Bahamas but the home leg was 2-2 (away 1-1) so the Bahamas went through on away goals.
Danish scientist Niels Bohr played for AB (Akademisk Boldklub or Academic Ball Club). He played when the goals were made of wood. He used to bring a pencil so if he had an idea during the game he could write a formula on the posts 😎
When are you coming to an MLS game, would love to see some stories from that league. The original Americanized shootout concept, concacaf champions league and the rise and hard fall of Toronto FC whilst being the second highest salaried team, would be fun stories
I guessed that Arthur Conan Doyle and Niels Bohr were goalkeepers purely on the fact that Pope John Paul II and Julio Iglesias had played in that position too. There must be something about goalkeepers.
What people don't remember about Manchester United 1999/00: -97 Premier league goals scored, -Raimund van der Gouw upstaging Mark Bosnich as the club's better keeper until Barthez came along the following season, -Eclipsing Arsenal by a massive 18 point to a 2nd consecutive league title with 91 points (1 more than the Invincibles' total AND doing it WITHOUT Ronny Johnsen who was injured all year save like 2 matches as well as the revolving door of keepers) What people DO remember about Manchester United 1999/00: -not playing in the FA Cup to go to Brazil, -Massimo Taibi 🙄🙄🤣🤣
Unfortunately ya's got all the answers wrong as in Jeopardy you have to say who is,what is,where is,etc before the answer as in who is Steven Gerrard, etc if you don't say that words first your answers will be wrong so unlucky you two 😂😂😂😂
No, doesn’t count. The question wasn’t about teams who went out after the group stage at *one* WC (would be a nonsensical question bc there are several teams who didn‘t qualify for the knockout stage but stayed unbeaten), but *any* WC. Belgium lost at other World Cups, New Zealand only played one, stayed unbeaten in the group stage, but didn‘t qualify for the knockout stage. Therefore NZ are unbeaten at World Cups.
Tom Wiese has made a big mistake in the semi final of the Champions League with Werder Bremen against Juventus Turin in the Delle Alpi Stadium. Werder Bremen was nearly in the Final. After that, he was not a safe goalie. After his football karrere he tries to be a wrestler and this wasn't very successful.😂
@@stuntpeggnieve I've looked again for details. What I'd written was a little bit wrong. It was not the semis, rather the Last 16.(March, 07.2006) The first leg was 3 : 2 for Werder and the 2nd leg 2 : 1 for Juventus. Emerson scored at the 89. min. a lucky goal based on a big mistake of the GK Tim Wiese.
Neither one of you got a single question correct. The answers have to be put in the form of a question. Of course the questions have to be asked correctly. If you know what I mean. 😅
