As an Italian, I find it so funny how the two teams from Nottingham have something to do with my country. Notts County is the reason why Juventus wears its black and white shirts, and Nottingham Forest's red shirts are inspired by Giuseppe Garibaldi, an Italian national hero, whose army of 1000 men worse a similarly red uniform
Herbert Kilpin who co-founded AC Milan came from Nottingham and chose red as one of the club colours because of Garibaldi - he'd already been involved in setting up an amateur team named after him in Nottingham. So not a direct Forest link like the origin of Arsenal's shirt, but definitely another Nottingham loving Garibaldi connection.
Absolutely correct. Did you know that Notts County are the oldest professional football club in the world. Founded in 1862. And Forest the second oldest 1865.
The “Distance” Derby in the A-League takes place three times a season and is 5200km between Perth and Wellington and there is a 5 hour time difference to navigate as well. Although there are apparently several Russian second tier games over 7000kms!
@jsimmo7041 does he have his facts incorrect or are those juventus supporters who were blatantly murdered by Liverpool fans not worthy of memorializing?
The away team walking across to the home team's stadium on matchday is a tradition in the Dundee Derby. One of the best fixtures in Scottish fitba, hopefully we get promoted so it returns next season. Definitely a recommended experience to do a Dundee Derby, usually a belter of a game and a cracking atmosphere.
Wonderful to see Nieve walking around the streets of my neighbourhood. Getting baffled by the mini-roundabout on Bishop's Road like pretty much everybody. Commenting on *my* Domino's. Of course one of the very few good things about Stamford Bridge is that you can hardly see it from anywhere, whereas Craven Cottage is a beacon of understated joy for all to behold. On matchdays I can hear the crowds from both stadiums from my bedroom, playing a game of guess the incident by the noise.
@@JimmyNDriver No they don't - precisely for that reason. But Fulham and QPR frequently do. Just over 3 miles between them. And AFC Wimbledon, less than 5 miles. And Brentford, also less than 5 miles.
The "laughs in Manc" really made me laugh in Sheffield. I won't reveal which team I support because whichever of the two it is you already know I'm having a terrible time, haha.
Great to see you paid a visit to Nottingham Pegg. As someone who lives in Nottingham, seeing you struggle to get to the City Ground when it's actually really easy (you went the wrong way basically 🤣) -- Make sure you pay us a visit when we've built the new stand or come for a game.
Between the Dominoes deliver joke and that cheeky look after the google search... love your humor Nieve hahaha. also 27 minutes isn't too bad from the cottage to the bridge! We don't really know where we're going half the time either :D
Thank you for picking up the frame at the anfield memorial , i really appreciated that .. And as for Nottingham legends we have our own legend presenting this video .. Wishing you a happy Christmas
I love the geekiness! I recently went to Spain for the first time for vacations but I made sure to see stadiums in every city I visited. It was nice to see both Betis and Sevilla's stadiums though I had the feeling of not knowing what to do once I was there as well 😅 It was just nice to see the stadiums that I've been seeing on TV for so many years
You seemed so shy on the RU-vidr first goal wins (Head and Shoulders) thing. I actually thought it made you come across as very authentic. You and the Irish fella were the only two not shouting and screaming over each other the whole time. It marked you out as being a person of substance who isn't an attention seeker in my eyes. Props for keeping it real, don't ever lose that!
This is a really kind comment and I’m glad I’ve seen it. I struggle with imposter syndrome, because fundamentally I’m just Nieve from Rochdale, who grew up an introvert and total geek. I’m really proud I’ve got to where I am through learning to value who I am, instead of trying to become someone different.
Love your videoes! As a norwegian I am also really appreciative of your traveling, and your brilliant coverage of football all over the world. Keep doing what you do, you inspire me greatly to do the same as you!
I just found your channel. In one day I'm 6 videos deep. I enjoy football (soccer..yes I'm from the States). But what I really love about your videos is the chance to experience and learn about the local people who follow and love these smaller clubs we/I don't get to hear about. It's wonderful to get insight into how these clubs are so woven into the fabric of the towns.
Could've walked another 100 yards past the City Ground and been at Trent Bridge Cricket ground too. I've watched Forest in The Championship and League One over the past 20+ years and it's mad that we've not had a single league match against Notts in that time.
Brilliant video. Thank you for your wonderful humour and content, whilst also showing tenderness and respect for the Hillsborough memorial at Anfield. Love your channel
As a lifelong Liverpool fan and season ticket holder, I just want to say thank you for the silence and respect shown in your footage by the Hillsborough memorial. YNWA ❤
My father did a lot of the design work at Notts County including the Gable End on the roof of the Jimmy Sirrell stand as a tribute to Archibald Leitch who designed so much of the old stadium.
Amazing video, United fan from Venezuela. I would love to do this one day!! So cool seeing all the different grounds & how close they are. More content like this please! 😬
Sometimes, when I see derby-related content, I kinda wish that my city's team (Napoli) had a local derby. The closest was when a team from the province (Savoia) was in Serie B at the same time as Napoli. I do wonder what would a "derby of Naples" be like, we could call it something like "the Pizza derby" or "Mount Vesuvius Derby"
You don't need local team to be your rival it is enogh if you have rival from your area (Campania) but I don't know wich club is there strongest after you.
technically yes it could be Napoli-Salernitana because it's the two largest cities in Campania facing each other, although it is rare. I think Napoli-Avellino was played more often@@Txoldibxl
It's a tradition when we play Dundee at Dens our players and staff walk up to Dens Park and they do the same when it's at Tannadice. Unfortunately Dundee are looking to build a new stadium in a different part of Dundee so this is set to change if they eventually go ahead with the new stadium.
@@danielfleming9367 it's actually a ridiculous idea mate, a lot of Dundee fans are dead against it. Their average home attendance is around 6k-7k their new stadium proposal is a 15k capacity stadium, hence why a lot are totally against it. They could and should just redevelop Dens Park it already has a capacity of nearly 12k so it isn't the best of ideas. Not to mention they have played there for 124 years too, crazy.
@legandrydirk nobody said it was a competition mate and seriously, you want to include 2 Junior league level teams in this as full professional teams, really?
For the Dundee clip, you walked up the Hilltoon. A right of passage tbh, so well pleased you did that. Even though Dundee are in the Premier, United are considered the larger club based on history, achievements (only team to beat Barcelona twice, etc), and support size. And when you do eventually come see a derby, you’ve got to do it twice - once at Dens and another at Tannadice - you’ll be welcome fondly at both. I’m not a supporter of either club, but got friends who do and they’re a great bunch. GGTTH.
Lol, Dundee beat Barcelona and real Madrid in the same week. Dundee united have never in their history had a bigger trophy count than Dundee......no person living or dead has seen a more successful United team. Dundees record crowd 43500 United's......28000 Dundee have had 43 crowds larger than utds largest. Dundee v Motherwell 137,000 If you know, you know
@@gb194 Here's my favourite Dundee factoid: Dundee FC last won the Scottish Cup in 1910. In 1911, The Kingdom of Italy declared war on the Ottoman Empire.
Love this. A few years ago i visited by public transport the outside of all 13 (at rhe time) club grounds within the M25 starting at Watford early in the morning and finishing at QPR late at night.
Great video as usual Nieve! You’d have a bit of a walk between Toronto FC and FC Montreal(our derby) 508km stadium to stadium. Have a merry Christmas and a great 2024 🎆🎇
I’ll never stop calling them the Impact. BMO Field is probably my favorite stadium appearance wise in MLS. I think maybe she would get a kick out of certain grounds in North America. I would love to see her reaction to a few matches across the country, but she would surely need a few hefty sponsorships.
Why is that some of the best channels you find by accident. I’m loving the humour which reminds me of The Map men. Thats the first time I have seen Acer sponser a RU-vidr? Nice job :)
Been a long time since I heard the view- same jeans, great band. Didn't think I'd ever see you do a video In my city of Dundee lol. cracking video, have me rolling at times😂
Thank you! Hey it’ll be 2 videos in Dundee if United get promoted this season. Just like buses you didn’t think you’d see me and then you see me twice 🤣
I've been on most of those grounds including a Dundee derby and I didn't know about the tradition of the away team walking to the match! A great idea to walk between all 4.
Interesting! Always thought the Nottingham clubs were the closest- didn't know that Dundee's were closer! Thanks for discussing when to use "Nottingham" and "Notts" by the way. Lots of (semi-local!) people erroneously refer to the city of Nottingham as "Notts" and it grinds my gears. Notts should always refer to the county of Nottinghamshire.
@benleatherland7020 Nottingham has the tightest city boundaries of all UK Cities..It is the 2nd largest City in the Midlands after Birmingham.Nottingham’s urban population is just short of a million, standing at 920,000,making Nottingham the 6/7 largest City in England depending upon the metric. Maybe try a little research before posting.. *Wiki
Don't be so precious about it, mate, there's hordes of people stunting the progress of humanity with misconceived received wisdom on the most fundamental level. Ungrateful sh!tebags who whine about the life-giving gift of rain. Narcissistic onanists who propagate the scourge of parking on pavements by awarding themselves gifts from Amazon. For what it's worth, there's only one Forest. Hence Forest, to me, have always been simply ... Forest.
I was at Nottingham Rugby's ground, and from where I was standing to watch Coventry vs. Nottingham, you could see both Meadow Lane, The City Ground and Trent Bridge cricket ground. Four stadiums, three different sports in one part of a city.
The infamous Printworks NYE picture, one of the best sponsor videos ever and the laugh subtitles so us Mancs (and others I guess) know when the scousers were laughing. Plus all the jokes, even a Shipman one! Amazing!
It’s amazing to think that football grounds were built so close in the same city…..I would love to catch a Dundee derby, I reckon it could get a bit spicy!
Good video ... some things to add; Everton's first ground was Anfield ... even though I am from, live in-spent most of my life in Liverpool, my team is ... Tranmere Rovers on the opposite side of The River Mersey in Birkenhead on the Wirral.
It's so surreal that you were just kicking about in Dundee after watching your videos previously 😂. Hope my team (Dundee United) get promoted so you can get a chance at visiting again for a derby!
@@kilwolski Why? Your self esteem can't be that low that someone on the internet thinking the Dees are a bigger team is all it takes to make you cry? Christ on a sandwich, Laddie!
Very enjoyable, thank you. The Dundee one is interesting as there have been many attempts to build a shared stadium, but it now appears that Dundee may be moving away. Dundee United were originally called Dundee Hibernian - along similar lines of Celtic & Hibernian, so I am pretty sure the who do you support is definitely family related. Fulham is a favourite of mine, but Liverpool just has so many emotions - well done on picking up the picture by the way. Keep the videos coming.
Another easy-going authentic video. I as actually in Dundee for a couple of days in May 2023 but spent my time at the waterfront, should have checked out the two stadiums!
@@jamesbong4928 Hey my lovely, we don't half meet in some strange places 😂....she is truly wonderful & this is a fab channel. Watching her journey & her growth, has been incredible. Hope you are well my friend. Have an amazing christmas too ..🥰..x
Forza StuntPegg! Your videos are brilliant and what a commitment to the cause, well done! Outside the UK, in Argentina, you have Racing Club and Independiente, two bitter bitter rivals whose stadiums are pretty much next to one another, just 300m
