The lovely Jeremy Brett and the beautiful Twiggy singing (1975). This video is for entertainment purposes only. I have not and will not ever commercially exploit the content
Is anyone else here in 2023....swooning to the exquisite grace, power, and wonderful talent of Jeremy Brett...oh!- how you are missed Jeremy!..hope you are entertaining them in Heaven Twiggy is superb also💜🌈🌞
Loved Jeremy when I first came upon the Sherlock Holmes series. Such a lovely speaking and singing voice…but did you know that Jeremy was born “tongue-tied”. I’m not too sure on the medical aspect, but he had surgery (eventually) to correct it and every day of his life; there after; performed vocal exercises without fail.
My mother saw Jeremy singing in the stage version of 'My Fair Lady' - she thought he was wonderful and was so disappointed when his voice was dubbed for the film. Years later, we both watched him as Holmes and we both fell in love ... her for the second time
He was a superb singer and a romantic leading man who, initially did not want to portray Sherlock Holmes. He was a very handsome man and Twiggy is beautiful here. He had a childhood illness that left scarring of the heart valves, leading to an enlarged heart and to his early death. He was the greatest Holmes ever, insisted on keeping to Conan Doyle's dialogue in the stories. He left behind a body of work as Holmes that will never be surpassed.
Thank you for that information. I became a fan of his when I discovered his Sherlock Holmes, a few years back. I've been looking for his work and as so impressed with his talent. So sad that he is gone and was gone, too soon.
WHY oh WHY did Britain never Knight Sir Jeremy? They knighted David Suchet for being the ultimate Hercule Poirot. Since Jeremy Brett is HANDS DOWN the only Sherlock Holmes worth mentioning, BRITAIN, please KNIGHT Jeremy Brett POST HASTE!!!!!
@@slyph63 yes Edward that shocked me too!...we have some with baftas with zero talent....Jeremy Brett had it all, brilliant actor, with such a range of talent, handsome, humble, and with great complexity, and emotional intelligence.!!!
God, he was a stunning singer. He would have made an incredible "Phantom Of The Opera" in Lloyd Weber's show. His beautiful face would have been hidden, but his power, grace, and leopard-like sensuality, along with his gorgeous voice, would have blown everybody else off the stage. I have no doubt every woman in the audience would have ended up on the floor. I know I would have. I wish he'd had the chance to do it. Just thinking about what might have been.................love you, Jeremy.
He would have made a great Phantom Of The Opera. He was a great actor. His performance as Sherlock Holmes proves that. I watch it regularly. The acting is superlative. He had to literally drain out his own ebullient personality to portray this dark and eccentric character. That really took some doing. It it so brilliant, that I almost believe that he existed. David Burke and Edward Hardwick actually looked like Victorian gentlemen. They did not have as much to say, but their acting was brilliant. In real life, Jeremy was a really charming man. The difference between him and Holmes is remarkable.
Robert was fine. They are just totally different people. Like saying Van Gogh isn't as good as Vermeer. Jeremy was the best Holmes, and will probably never be beaten.
My classmates and most of my teachers all knew I was a Sherlock fanatic and had read all the books, watched every portrayal from Basil Rathbone to Basil of Baker Street. My art teacher saw me leave the theater showing RDJ's first Sherlock movie and asked "How was it?" I replied, "Great effort! But Jeremy Brett is still the best"
'Exquisite' is the best word I can find for Mr. Brett; he carefully doesn't overwhelm his co-star, but his skill is still evident. Never thought much of Twiggy before this; how pleasantly surprising to see more than a cute name and underfed figure.
Romantic Jeremy!!! That was a surprise!! From the point blank stare, fine lines running through the curves of his mouth, twitching and curling up of his lips, the dry emotionless expressions given while logically deducting a subject of interest....the genius in this romantic avatar! Worthy of applause👏👏💖💖💖
The second scene was my favorite! sigh! I always thought he moved like a dancer in Sherlock Holmes but it was SO nice to see him waltz in this clip! gorgeous man!
Wow! I did not know that Jeremy Brett could sing like this. OrTwiggy for that matter. Just lovely. He certainly was a true Renaissance man. He is greatly missed. Thank you for posting this.
Yes,I know. But that does not make him less lovable. I, too, have a place for him in my heart. The fact remains, that we will not able to meet him anyway...
@@Hithere-ek4qt he was bisexual he first married Anna Massey in 1958 then when they divorced he got into a relationship with Gary Bond then whilst in a relationship with Paul Shenar he married Joan his second wife
@@Hithere-ek4qt Look it up, Jeremy William Huggins didn't mind it both ways. He was married twice and devastated when his second wife passed away. And sure he had boyfriends. He was Bi, not just for the ladies or the guys, but both.
His singing is so beautiful I wish he'd recorded an album of traditional songs or something. It's not just that he has a good voice and an attractive timbre which he does... but his enviable diction in ordinary speech carries into his singing and his phrasing is, as a consequence, exquisite. Add to that a natural talent for emoting and he's really perfect for this type of music, and needless to say this is my favorite rendition of the song "she moves through the fair." ^_^
The beloved Jeremy Brett!! Best Sherlock Holmes ever, lovely facial expressions (see The Ferryman when he's being interviewed), and a beautiful voice to boot......
@@angelaowens2911 , I so agree!! He was such an exquisite man, and extraordinary as Holmes. I adore the way he feels so much sincere emotion in 'she moves through the fair' - utterly beautiful in every possible way.
what a lovely voice. I wish they'd let him sing in My Fair Lady! A real shame he isn't with us anymore. He really was one of a kind. He lives on in our hearts :)
They dubbed his voice in My Fair Lady because Brett was a baritone and they wanted a tenor as Freddie. Brett played Higgins on.stage.But they shouldnt have dubbed him
Audrey didnt.have the voice for My Fair Lady because the role needs a soprano .She could sing the Funny Face songs very well but Eliza songs need another style of singer like Julie Andrews. But Jeremy Brett was a better singer and although he was a baritone he could sing the Freddie s songs only in lower keys. .
Of course they did. His voice was no match for Bill Shirley. Also Fred has lied until near his death that he was the one singing in My fair lady. Not exactly a nice person
I am now convinced that no more beautiful man has ever lived. Jeremy should have been one of the greatest leading men of his time. He said he went to Hollywood to become a star and "failed." Of course he was a star anyway, but the fact he wasn't as big as Cary Grant means that it was Hollywood that failed. This must rank as one of Hollywoods biggest failures of all time.
Oh dear. I feel I am very late to the party. I hadn’t even HEARD of Jeremy Brett til a couple of months ago. But here I am watching old shows and series with him in it just because of his Sherlock Holmes! I feel like Rip Van Winkle just awakening from a long sleep. I’ve never been a tv watcher, but it is rather nice to be able to catch these things, when i want on RU-vid. After his Sherlock portrayal and his Max de Winter role, I’m hooked! There’s just something about him..... Very mesmerizing.
I should have been born in England to discover Jeremy Brett sooner. Such wonderful talent. Thank You, thank You, for your commitment with art in so passionate way. If there is an Heaven, You are there pleasing the angels with your voice and performing.
I wish I had met him...rest in peace Sir...you were truly ahead of your time...extraordinary actor wonderful generous person! You will always be remembered!!!!!
Oh, my God, he was so....superlative, in every way/ The first song he sings here made me cry. He was just everything....I cannot bear that he is gone. So many thanks for sharing this!
Beautiful video showcasing Brett's versatile talents. He and Twiggy make a great duo. She sings great, too. They should have done more together. RIP Jeremy, you will always be missed by so many.
Wow. I mean, WOW. That was very impressive. I normally don't listen to music like that, but it's, you know, JEREMY BRETT. And the duet was AMAZING. They complimented eachother, it was great.
I just love Jeremy's voice so much! He sings like an angel... I'd love to meet him... Sadly, he isn't with us anymore. Now rest in peace dear Jeremy Brett. We will all remember You as the greatest Sherlock Holmes of them all and such a talented singer. We will remember the great man and stunning actor, who didn't win awards, bud instead won hearts of people who watched him act. Fate wasn't kind, but You stood up and standed strong to the end. Now I think I speak for all of Your fans. We can't be more proud of what You did for us. We all love You, Jeremy. Our hearts are with You there, in Heaven. And belive me, that You will never be forgotten. Thank you. ❤

Muy cierto, Jeremy, siempre será amado por las mujeres y hombres que te conozcan.
When Twiggy introduced Jeremy there should have been a HUGE APPLAUSE, these people don't know this great man, he was the greatest actor and human being ever!!
The nearest thing is "Bending the Willow: Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes" by notable Sherlockian Scholar David Stuart Davies. It is not actually a biography, as it focuses mostly on the Granada production, but as Jeremy WAS that production, it has a lot of first hand interviews and interesting tid-bits about him and his life during his years making the show. Sadly, it's incredibly rare and copies sell for stunningly high prices. I wish you the best of luck finding it.
"she moved through the fair"!! i love this song! i was introduced to this song by Celtic Woman! Jeremy is full of surprises! RIP he's truly an artist in every sense!
First of all thank you so much for uploading this video...I am a big fan of Jeremy sir's Sherlock Holmes... I think he has set threshold for the next generation actors to play Sherlock Holmes and I think no one has met that point yet... I fall in love with him again and again with every single episode that I watch of Sherlock Holmes... it's very sad that he gone too soon but he'll always stay in our hearts till our last breath...
JB is fabulous & along with David Burke, create the zenith of perfection in portraying THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES. I just viewed "The Norwood Builder," sensational! Suzanne...Hilo, Hi.
