@Dillon Ventola i got one in Cali selling for 5k if your interested. It runs perfect, specs : 6 speed manual with the upgraded ko4 turbos. It has the Alcântara interior too
I recently acquired a Seat Toledo 20VT (180ps) I think they share the same engine, code name is AUQ. Lovely ride it's well mantained but needs a paint job. Google for the model I bet you will like it. The k03s turbo is a bit outdated I plan to swap for a K04-64 once it dies lol.
@Dillon Ventola its abit different it has a 2.8 n/a v6 makes 195hp. I got one earlier this year at 113k with the Quattro 5 speed manual and it’s great.
@Dillon Ventola can’t beat the responsiveness of a v6 n/a! I’m looking at putting a few hundred k on mine so not looking to risk anything like that. But if you plan to then yeah you’re right spend 1000 on a 1.8t and tune it or buy a 4500$ super charger for the v6 and then look for a tuner for that.
I recently bought a1999 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro. I wasn't looking for an Audi but it checked all the boxes. It handles like a dream, and it has a bit of punch if required. I love it. The 5 speed manual sold me.
I Still have my 1996 1.8T quattro b5, Tuned to shit, never gone wrong with 300.000 kms. Love it, and recently bought s4 and rs4 kits and restored the exterior. I will never sell it.
@@ericmitchell3922 I do think yes for what I hear , but I only owned the 1.8t platform, the 1.8t with engine code Aeb is bullet proof for up to 300bhp.
@@ericmitchell3922 if well maintained yes, but I would try to find one with fewer miles, only if I knew the previous owner or with extensive history. The only problem with this cars is the people who own them, sometimes they don't do the proper maintenance
@@EuropeanDigitalCoinEDC Right, I've been talking to the dealer and he has said he has no collection of maintenance/service records since the car was a trade in. It doesn't look the best of shape in regard to the paint but aside from that it looks decent. I have yet to check out the vehicle in person
Is it reliable John E? I'm looking for an older drivers car that won't cost much to buy or fix. The Audi B5 is highly likeable in the enthusiast community. Also awd is nice for NJ weather. Although I get by in my rwd car alright.
@@domvitorocco I have the old 12-valve V6 with the 5-speed pre-Tiptronic automatic. I have had minor problems with decaying vacuum lines, power window regulators (flimsy plastic clips), headlight switch, ignition switch, and climate control module (cold solder joints), none of which were terribly difficult or time-consuming DIY repairs. If you don't mind doing your own maintenance and light repairs, it is a pretty solid and economical car to own and drive.
@@johne6081 Thank you for replying! I can do some diy stuff myself. I once owned a volvo and within 2 years, I lost $7000 to maintenance alone, no mods. Sold for the price at bought it at $6500, bought a Genesis Coupe for the same $6500, and have put in $4k in 2 years with mixed maintenance and mods. Needs another $2500-3000 for clutch replacement and for some other things too. I have like no savings left! So I'm thinking of making the decision to sell my car, keep the money in my savings and buy a cheap car or make monthly payments.
You do?! That's awesome! I live in northern NJ and drive around the tri state area time to time. I myself would be looking for a manual B5! But I have heard that the B5 is prone to some electronic failures here and there and that parts could be expensive depending on were you live. I absolutely enjoy my current car (2010 Genesis Coupe), but I've been dumping at least a whole car's worth of mods and money into my last 2 cars. The atm now prints me coupons for ramen noodles, my wallet put a financially belt, and to top it all off it's the holiday season! Haha! Need to stop dropping a ton of cash on cars. So I want to find something cheap, fun to drive, and cheap to fix. Cheap cheap cheap. What about you? Why do you want a B5?
My younger son, who originally found the 1996 A4, is now solidly a BMW guy, with 1991 and 2004 3-series sedans and a late model 2-series two-door commuter. My elder son is still in the VW/Audi fold, with his 2002 A4 and his wife's Tiguan, which our grandsons really like. When our boys were younger, there was a time we were a four B5/B6 family: my 1996 A4 Quattro, younger son's 2000 S4 (not recommended -- absolute money pit), my wife's 2001 Passat wagon, and our elder son's 2002 A4 Quattro.
One thing that is striking that they really are quality cars . Instantly recognisable. I cant tell tell apart modern cars , let alone year and model. older cars you could tell apart at night just by the lights in your rear view mirror.
I always missed top gear as a kid as I still believe to this day it was never about cars it was always about golfing trousers and who has the best skirt. It's the one program the cars are compared to anything but cars and this is why it sold it for me
Part of me wants to buy a b5 S4 as a fun second car to compliment my reliable full size luxury Lexus LS430 UL. But they seem to be getting harder to find whereas the b6 S4 is easy to find and quite reasonably priced. Even though it would be a fun second car, I'm still a bit worried about reliability.
@@mattessmotorsport9344 I am glad they beefed it up, because the 6-speed MT was a weak spot of the B5 S4. My biggest gripe with any performance car is that most have been abused by previous owners.
Post some videos about it dude. Even just a few pulls with a description including your set up. You sometimes end up helping people out when you do so.
