@@textmachine09 Yes, but since they had the blueprint, they actually can make it, but it just no sense bc why would you make a piece without a soul. Same case as F-1 rocketdyne booster engine on Saturn V rocket.
@@bokebryant3985 Well that car and The Lexus LC 500, the guys at Lexus actually put alot of effort in making those 2 cars, as an owner of both, imo they are great.
@@Dex-Maxno yeah, but it will still work, it’s simpler and lighter then modern 10speeds, it doesn’t have to shift as fast, Lexus tried to keep the analog feeling of a manual transmission
@Optimus Prime what has Tesla to do with this😂😂, even the better v10 vehicle “e60 M5” had transmission issues, smg and cvt are the worst transmissions, there was an e60 M5 csl with a dct, which made the car 100x better
Funny how Clarkson said "I don't understand this car (LFA)." cause of the price before he ever drove one. Then after he drove it he ultimately said it was the best car he had ever driven.
Exactly, on paper the car is crazy and ridiculous and the stupidest car ever, but in reality the car is amazing and probably one of my favorite supercars
It’s because as car guys they see a car as not just a mode of transport but a being an entity something that’s alive it has feelings it lives it breathes the car is well, alive
@@paulschauer6273 I always see cars like people, some cars are more feisty, some are more tame and mellow, but some are tame until you poke it with a stick.
Clarkson might be a controversial person. But when it comes to talking about cars he’s the absolute greatest. As a presenter and a car journalist he’s the ultimate man.
If it was Italian it would be in the shop 6 out of 7 days. German if BMW would have made sure the windows would not go down after 3 years. I do have a E34 and a E39 estate.
It's no wonder the LFA is one of the most eargasm inducing cars ever made. That 1LR-GUE V10 engine as made with help from Yamaha was like the most delicious apple pie ever served that no body else and later on would know how to replicate its secrets.
I have never wanted a t h i n g more than this in my life. Toyota struggles to make charismatic cars in general, but this encapsulates why I love cars. It is the idea that a car can be an emotional rollercoaster of pain and desire.
I'd argue that it's not Toyota, but Lexus that doesn't have a soul. MR2, Celica, Supra and other, older cars are amazing. RCF is a good step forwards, even if it's not the best car.
Wanna hear the most annoying thing ever? I know someone who wanted this car as bad as you do when it came out, but was nowhere near affording one, in fact he was extremely poor. Now that same someone could actually afford the LFA for the original price... but not the collector prices it goes for currently. Can drive you insane.
Japan's first supercar and most collectable was the Toyota 2000gt arguably Japan's best sports car is the MK4 Toyota Supra Japan's best Grand Tourer is a Lexus LC500 and its best Supercar by far is the Lexus LFA notice a pattern here?
@@toyotahontas9296 You can adjust the shift speed in 7 levels so you can choose between smooth shifting or maximum performance. Shift speed is also adjusted automatically depending on acceleration. When maxed out the shifts are definitely not slow.
Clarkson saying it's the best car he's ever driven hits hard. That is incredibly powerfull coming from someone who has driven everything in pretty much all conditions.
I’d highly encourage anyone that loves the LFA to watch the Savagegeese video on it. I completely underestimated the sheer amount of engineering that went into this car. Absolutely incredible
There are multiple cars that have a soul and it pains me to see ppl treat them so badly. The LFA is one of said cars that has its own category. Not the fastest but its in its own category and everything about it, Lexus really made it like a Prototype
I used to work at a Lexus dealership as an apprentice it the shop. The owner had ordered one and the guy I was apprenticed to was the only one who was qualified to do the Pre-Delivery Inspection. On a regular vehicle this took a couple hours. On The LFA it took two days. Big wigs from Cali came in to ensure all paperwork was perfect and that the Inspection was completed exactly as detailed in the very long guide. The bottom is nearly completely covered in carbon fiber panels to ensure air passes under with zero buffet spots in the mechanics. 2 piece windshield that costs 15,000, resonant chamber just before the 3 split exhaust tubes, part of the reason for the note of the engine. Yes the amount of engineering that went into this car is insane. Unfortunately I was able to participate in the drive but damn it was quite the two days. And I wish i still had the video of the walk around I did when it was running in the shop. So clean.
The radio in that car would be redundant, because the engine noise is just ORGASMIC. Definitely one of the best sounding cars of all time. Dare i say, it gives the V10 era F1 cars a run for their money.
tbf even though i agree with you it's like what Jeremy said about the cupholder. Occasionally you might go somewhere in the car and those critter comforts matter. But for a track day car, 100% agree
As a Porsche fan, the LFA is the car that hits the perfection of human engineering. For those of you who know, know what I’m talking about. Give credit where credit is due.
When he said that the people who made it don't know how to make it again... That is a testament to the legend that is the LFA. Truly an engineering Marvel. I wonder if the generations in the future will listen to the howl of the V10 that stole the heart of the world and think of the great time we're living in right now.
I’ve sat in one, there’s a super luxurious car dealership specifically for sports cars in the UK and my step dad was interested in a Nissan GTR at the time so we all went in and the people there were extremely nice and help us take photos and let us get in it (I was about 11-12 at the time) I sat in a ford GT, Rolls Royce Ghost and a LFA (which I think was very new at the time)
There's two cars I recall Clarkson surprisingly falling for. The LFA was one of them, and oddly the Ford Mondeo ST200 was the other. He said despite having a pool of far more expensive test cars available at Top Gear, everyone kept grabbing the keys to the Mondeo.
And this car is one of the reasons that Lexus/Toyota is my favourite car brand. Just a perfect blend of Japanese technology and madness. Such a pure love of cars aswell. Actually built and designs by car enthusiasts.
@@flamespittinported13b6 Agreed, wich one would be the other 2? I think Volvo T5R Estate, cream yellow and the new Toyota GR Yaris. Polestar 1 could also be there...
It's amazing about how the noise a car make can elevate its worthiness. It may not be as capable or as fast as the R35 GTR, but it surely makes every car enthusiast rewarded.
It’s also not just about being faster than the r35, it’s also about how the car makes you feel. And from what Jeremy Clarkson has to say about it I’m sure the LFA drives and feels like nothing else on the road
When I see "Jeremy Clarkson" in the title of the clip, I automatically switch on. The man that reformatted Top Gear. The man who drew a 350 million viewership. The man who revived Top Gear. The man is excellent.
This is my favorite car as well. You definitely feel the sweat and effort went into perfecting the car. Truly a masterpiece for the human kind. Hope to get to drive it one day.
Because every car maker is climbing into the electric bandwagon, I have a bad feeling that probably we won´t hear again any vehicle that makes such an epic noise as the LFA.
Hands down the best car ever made. Totally agree with Clarkson. And as Clarkson said maybe it's so goog that even the people who made it can't seem to be able to make it again.
I love how Jeremy describes the lfa as a 'sad animal'. I would assume that he is implying that it's under constant suffering. I reckon it sounds like a wolf that howls a really high pitch. It sounds like the r8 gt from horizon one at 6000rpm and that is the best thing about it.
It seems all these car manufacturers have their genius moments at some point in their existence. I would love to see a documentary of each brands pinnacle of engineering genius.
I respect this brand a lot. I don't think the LFA as a tech development project lost money. In fact the instrument cluster is used in the F Sport versions
Even the asking price (at its launch) was so much damn insufficient to recoup their money back then. Lexus is basically bleeding money here (despite being a Toyota) and even now, accounting to inflation, they probably haven't recouped their money spent on 5 years of R&D and testing, and another 4 years of starting over again for R&D when they switched to carbon fiber (and heck, it even cost one of their prolific Toyota racer/engineer their life while testing the LFA.)
This is genuinely my dream car. I don't care how old it will be when I buy a most likely used one or how outdated it is, I believe that from the design to the sound it makes it is the most beautiful car in the world.
No matter how old it is, it will always be legendary and its value can only appreciate. Just look at the Toyota 2000 GT, the value is getting more and more expensive. The LFA will be just the same or even better in value. Well I must be happy with the Autoart 1:18 LFA model, since the real one will be forever out of my reach. 🤣
no matter how fast and efficient EVs will become, nothing compares to this sound. and there are many really good sounding cars and bikes. EVs just can't give you that feeling. it's art. it's magic.
McLaren F1 ? Veyron ? I think those two are more likely to be pinnacles of engineering of their times than a supercars that only is different because of how insanely good it sounds
@@tungabunga4107 thats out of the subject. We get it, you can’t recognize that something you don’t like is good. The Veyron is a revolution, the LFA isn’t. That’s a fact that you can’t deny.
After watching this video,im grateful to be alive since i hear lexus lfa engine sound which is underrated supercar since 2010 and now several people are realize and regret underestimate this car after they watching this video.
The LFA is the closest thing you car guys can get to understanding what us motorcycle riders feel when we ride. Granted, Yamaha helped build the v10 so of course they’re going to make the heart of the car an unbelievably sentient motor. It sounds like the first Gen R1s almost the way it falls down in the gears and then picks right back up again
Ive watched the documentary of how lexus build this LFA. They collaborate with yamaha to tune the sound of the engine. That is why it sounds so good. Plus they channel some of the raw engine sound into the cockpit so that the driving experience become more amazing. Its mindblowing
The Lexus lfa where it actually seemed like a super car was designed by people who genuinely enjoy driving cars not just staring at the paper in which it shows all the specs
Akio Toyoda (the heir of the Toyota name, of course, and also the CEO at the time) was personally involved in the development and even raced in it during the 24h of the Nurburgring.
It’s one of those cars that seems to be more than the sum of its parts, you can hear the passion and dedication they put into it every time you hit the gas pedal.
