New signing Jeremy Sarmiento spoke to TownTV after signing for the Blues on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion. Watch an extended interview on TownTV - www.itfc.co.uk/videos/87ebbfd...
When we were losing 3-0 at Northampton, having not scored for five games in a row, having players like Sarmiento and Omari Hutchinson on loan, and being in an automatic promotion spot in January, would have been considered enough to get you sectioned
But life has moved on, and we have had significant investment that has attracted these players, and management team, so expectations massively increase. It's also about the club's own standards - and having those pinned back to being crap when we had no money and a poor infrastructure isn't very ambitious. This is a club that at least should be top six championship and higher than that. If Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford etc can be established premier league clubs then so can Ipswich. Let's look up and forwards not down and back.
Always been fairly well backed monetarily. Just crap managers. Important to remember where we have come from and appreciate it. I personally would be happy with galvanising this season and not getting promoted, rather than going up, getting walloped every week and then all those fair weathers getting Kieran sacked only to be repaced by another championship specialist has been!
@@s.g.engineeringltds.g.engineer But Evans didn't back McCarthy onwards did he? Famously so. McCarthy couldn't strengthen in 14/15 when we were top two. After that Hirst had to sell the three best forwards and best defender and was only allowed to replace them with lower league players. Lambert had no money to spend. Cook did spent money but the new owners made that available for him and the core of the current team are players he brought in. Now, McKenna is significantly backed - he was able to bring in four key players in jan 2023 when the club was stalling in league one. Same again now - the wages alone are likely to be significant. So it's not right to say others had that backing.
I think you miss my point, to be fair, as I am stomp,y trying to put some context on the progress made under Ashton and especially since the excellent decision to appoint Mc Kenna. Considering where we had fallen to, under the Evans decay, the progress in the last two years has been superb. We are a top ten Premiership Club, without a doubt, but in order to get there, we will need to overcome various challenges, the Hirst injury being one of them at present. @@MarlboroughBlenheim1
The fact that there were absolutely no leaks or signs of this coming shows how solid the club is from top to bottom, especially now knowing that Ipswich were trying to construct this deal in the summer. Good to get players in early, this window is the biggest we have had in the last 20 years imo.
They inquired after loads, just none of them wanted to come to a newly promoted club. Now Kierans proved the doubters wrong and they have a chance of Prem they cant wait to sign!!
i heard about this on new years day. he messaged my mate on instagram saying hesing coming from W brom to ipswich on load an that he needs regualar hair cuts
does the interviewer listen to the answers. I often feel for the new signings having to go through the same dull questions …. Come on interviewers, your very much part of this family
I just hope he has a final product. Too many players like this that are rapid and get fans on their feet but the final product ends up in row z. His highlight reel scares me. Shows him turning defenders inside out then it cuts as soon as he crosses or shoots. Meaning the end product was no good. Offer £10 Million for Josh Sargent. That shows intent.
And he scared plenty of premier league defenders too, but he’s not a striker, he’s an attacking midfielder, similar to what Brighton have In Enciso and Buonanotte, quick, talented on the ball, full of tricks and link up play. He lost his place through injury and the performances of those who replaced him but he’s a quality midfielder.
Aberdeen? 🏴 HOLY. F***ING. S**T. If Aberdeen manage to pull this off (and that’s a MAJOR if) then this could potentially be the biggest signing in their history! Jeremy Sarmiento 🇪🇨 is EXACTLY the profile of player Aberdeen should be targeting if they are to progress to the next level. Get the new stadium sorted and a signing or two like this and Aberdeen will be BACK! (FC Midtjylland would be proud)
@@MarlboroughBlenheim1he’s a good league 1 striker championship is completely different he isn’t ladapo isn’t good enough for this league and so is Jackson so need another striker asap
@@Liamsleftyitfc81 except ladapo has played regularly and scored goals in the championship, eg with Rotherham, so what you say can't be right. I think the point is he's not right for this current Ipswich side and the way they play - which needs fast, technically able players who can press and link up others. That's why he's probably leaving. Jackson is more of a McKenna profile player because he is very fast and can press quickly plus has real pace to get behind sides that push up, but he isn't really a striker.
Foreign crap? Seriously? Firstly he’s on loan and the club are probably only paying half his salary, a salary from a club known for only paying sensible wages, so whatever else they’re doing, they’re not “wasting money” Secondly he’s English, from London, but through his parents he qualified to play for Ecuador, and he’s an international at age 21, playing alongside Caicedo and Estupinan just like he did for Brighton in the premier league before his injury, so not foreign or crap. And lastly, your manager shouldn’t have any input whatsoever with your academy/youth policy or transfers at all. DeZerbi is simply the coach at Brighton, the youth academy is an entirely separate and individually managed entity, and transfers are completely controlled by the director of football using the algorithm from StarLizard. Even the loans (out) department has its own management structure. And you want an ex footballer to run all of that and improve on that system that’s put Brighton in the last 16 of the Europa league and fighting for top 6 places in the premier league? I’d seriously consider educating yourself on stuff you want to vomit out on social media… Saves you from sounding like a complete moron.
