Swaymans going to analyze and educate himself out of a job. It's too bad because he may regret it for a long long time. Bruins have to see a full season or two at #1 goalie ice time.

I agree high 6's is too low. Over 8 is too high. Bruins need to give him a good offer and if he still says no trade him.

Sorry. I don't buy Swayman's response, as I didn't not buy it the first time. What a fake/canned response. If he's so good- as he claims he is -then the Bruins should be able to pare back on their investment in defense and replace some of those higher paid defenseman with some minimum guys, yeah? That way they can put the money into their top lines. And surely the highest paid goalie in the league will convert most of those ties to wins at the highest rate possible. Regardless, Swayman is doing to the Bruins what he claims they are doing to him. More specifically, he is keeping them from becoming a better team and doing what they do best. When a single play costs the team another solid player (or two or three), they have to be worth it. I say that most of Swayman's success has been on account of the Bruins strong defensive system. How would he have done in OTT or ANA last year? And he's have to go through losing streaks, as opposed to being coddled. Not a fan of Swayman... 😝

he's still not worth north of 6 mill IMO. I don't care about his stats. When you play 42 games and share the crease with a Vezina winner you need to prove yourself. Yes had good numbers and a decent playoff. Until he gets 60-65 games in and can take a team deep in playoffs or win a cup then we'll talk turkey. He's not elite at least not yet.

I am torn about his situations. All know he is an outstanding goalie,but he hasn't completely proven his worth (bridge deal?) I think he is worth 6 to 7 million. and needs to show he is worth what he is asking. I think if goalies were allowed bonuses in this league this deal would most likely already be done.

It’s too bad Sweeney continues to lock on to average NHL quality players. He hangs on to players of that caliber too long Gryz, Carlo and Debrusk to name a few. He does not know how to unload players, I gave him credit for the Ulmark find. But why not deal Swayman and a get solid player in return. And by the way Goalie Bob maybe the reason for both goalies successes. Bussi could have been a year away under him and Ulmark was one year removed from a Vezina.

I'm glad Montgomery feels Swayman will be at camp. I'm at 90% belief Sway will be a holdout going into the season

Look, if Sweeney can deal Swayman for a top left wing or a high draft pick, Swayman is gone. As someone mentioned, Sweeney has Bussi, and DiPeitro, in Providence, waiting for a shot with the Bs, plus Korpisalo, who is probably working with Sweeney's goalie coach in Providence right now. So Swayman is done, and for him to pivot and become desperate, agreeing to whatever Sweeney wants to pay him is a mistake for the Bs because he will eventually regret it and be a distraction to the team. Swayman and his agent didn't do their homework. They should have agreed to a 2 yr bridge contract with a trade clause. Sweeney is not in a position to agree to any long term deals, especially with goalies because he is trying to win now while retooling and he has yet to establish a core of young players who will be the nucleus of the team for the next decade. Jury is still out on whether you can build a team through free agents as your core and have championship play with that core for a period of time. Vegas won with free agents but has been unable to sustain itself. Let's see what Florida does this year. Point here it is not the traditional model, and Sweeney is unlikely to follow it.

Even with all the rumors... i think its gonna be a 6 years... between 6.8 and 7.8 M... if its for a short term... like a 5 years... it might reach 8 M

How many years are we talking ? I'd say 7.5 for 3 to 5 years. Then Sway would be in line for the really big pay day if he has proven himself over that contract.

People mad at Sway apparently didnt know who his agent was, you should be mad at the bruins for trading away their leverage for a goalie that was one of the worst in the league. Add that to the fact that the cap is going up and a lower contract will hurt other goalies in the future and this all makes sense. I feel like an 8 and 8 or 8 and 8.5 would work out in the end as a deal for the b's but i am not an expert so who knows....

"Hes been excellent" hes totally right... Unless he gets injured, Jay will be one of the best goalies in the league in the future, dont get me wrong... but at the end of the day, he's never played a full season... that has a huge impact on the value of the contract he's about to sign... even if he's the reason why Boston beat Toronto last year and been able to reach the second round...

I disagree that an offer in the 6-6.5 million range for 3 years is a low offer. I think it's more than fair for a player who has not proven he can be a number 1

It is nice to see someone (else) point out that the Tuukka Rask, just prior to signing his 8 X $7M deal, may be the best comparable for Swayman. And yes, Rask's cap adjusted contract would be ~ $9.2M if signed today. Both total games played and max games played per season are quite similar. Both also emerged over a recent Vezina winner. One difference in Rask's favor is that he took the Bruins to the cup final against Chicago prior to signing. Swayman has looked good in the playoffs but did not have that kind of success. If the Bruins want 8 years, they will have to be in the 8's I think. If a bridge, perhaps lower but that walks Swayman to UFA.

This is all sweeneys fault. He d3alt ullmark for cardboardisalo and his ridiculous 3mill cap when bussi is capable of playing 22games for 800k. He always lowballs players expecting them to take a discount. Just give him 7.5 long term and sign the papers. They go absolutely nowhere without sway and moronman sweeney should realize it.

I hope he gets the max from the bruins after what they did to him last year and taking him to arbitration.
