You just need to be mindful when you pull the string back with your hands, you need to make sure you pull it back square so the string isn’t cocked to one side. It doesn’t seem like too much, but the guy at my bow shop said you can torque the string a bit by pulling it back by hand. Using the crank system, the piece that attaches to the string centers it so that the exact center of the string lines up with the channel. I have an old Horton and I have the center of the string marked with a sharpie so that I know where the center is when I pull mine back by hand. Thanks for the review. Good luck and god bless you guys. 👍🦌🇺🇸
Yes he knows that Chad. As mentioned in the video the hand cranks takes time to do and at the range he wanted to shoot. I like my cranking device, basically a built in pull rope. Thanks for the points, I am sure Jerod will read the comments. Thanks for watching and commenting. Juddie - J & J TOA
Have you seen the Twin Strike dual bolt crossbow by Excalibur? I’m just now seeing it on a hunting commercial on the outdoor channel. Two triggers and two bolts. Check it out
Thanks, Lonnie. I am glad that Jerod got everything worked out on his bow. That is one reason he stresses if you go to Cabelas looking at buying a "Factory Refurbished" to try and safe some money, sign the paperwork and shoot it there a few times first. At least with what happened, we found out that TenPoint has a good customer service and that means a lot to us. Yes, the tri-pod is nice, in fact I ordered one and it came in Wednesday. While we were shooting these videos Sunday, I sat down got on my phone and went to Cabelas website and ordered myself one. That is how much I like that tri-pod. Thanks for watching and commenting. We sure will Clay, and your right we are a week away from being in a stand on a crisp cool morning (I hope) with fog in the air. Thanks for watching and commenting. Juddie - J & J TOA
Dave, I was worried what they were going to say, but when Jerod told me what they said, and then after the guy talked to his manager, I was glad they stood behind their product like they did. The bows shoot great, but we did learn something, check the new price before buying off the "Factory Refurbished" rack!! As for the rest, I liked it so well, I have one setting right here in my room now. LOL Thanks for watching and commenting. Juddie - J & J TOA
Glad you enjoyed it, Rondy!! When we discovered on my bow and even Jerod's that the factory heat shrink didn't come all the way to the end and since I am a ham radio operator and mess with electronics, I told Jerod I could fix this problem. So I did, took that heat shrink all the way out to the end and while it was still hot, I pinched it at the end. Then I trimmed off the excess and you have what you see here. Thanks for watching and commenting. I guess your season has already started, we are a week out and we will be in the stand. Juddie - J & J TOA
Good review glad to know that about the crossbow I was just looking at those crossbows last week at park center and was going to lay one away so now ill know what to expect when I do lay it away even though it is a new one so keep up the good work on the videos
Remember Tim, we bought our bows off the "Factory Refurbished" rack at Cabelas!! These weren't brand new, but might as well be considered new if they have been factory refurbished. Heck, I even registered mine on TenPoint's website. I figured the original owner probably had registered it, but undoubtedly when they are sent back, TenPoint must clear that record. If you were looking at new ones at Park Center, then you should be good as gold getting a new one. Good luck, again they are very nice and hard shooters. Thanks for watching and commenting. Completely understand what you saying u could have gotten a new bow for what you paid for a replacement one but they took care of you too sounds like a decent company to work with for sure yal guys stay safe out there
Jason, you are right, if he would have looked on the ceiling where the new bows were hanging, he would have found the brand-new Wicked Ridge Invader X4 for $399.99. Instead of paying $400 for the Wicked Ridge Rampage 360 off the "Refurbished Rack" he could have bought a new crossbow. Even me, instead of buying my Invader X4 off the "Factory Refurbished" rack, I could have added another $150 to the price I paid for mine and had a brand-new one myself. When I saw those, I was thinking of saving money, heck I figured factory refurbished meant that it would be as new but with maybe some cosmetic blemishes. I was the one who was fortunate, nothing appears to be wrong with my bow. Jerod's on the other hand, well you watched the video. Thanks for watching and commenting. Juddie - J & J TOA
Now the big decision on which one to take…….crossbow or compound???? Last year was my first year owning both and that decision fought me every time!!!! I will say I took my compound more but I’m hard headed!!!!
Matt, I think we have it figured out, especially since our bows are new (a year old), that we hunt with the bow and if we harvest one with them, then we will use the crossbow for the second harvest. We always buy one additional bow tag, never have bought both additional bow tags, just the one extra. The other idea is if it is going to be a nasty day, rain lets say, setup our blinds and use the cross bow, especially the one blind I have. I believe it is called the outhouse blind, there isn't enough room in it to draw a bow. I think it was intended for rifle or shotgun hunting, but would make a good crossbow blind and it is very portable. Thanks for watching and commenting. Juddie - J & J TOA
The 360 and Invader x4 shoots 360 fps. I bought the wicked ridge raider 400 decock crossbow. What broadhead are ya using? I ordered a dz of custom bolts. I am looking at Tooth of the arrow broadhead. A 100 gr fixed blade vented head. I bought a misplay model scope. Had a piece missing. Tenpoint said sent it back. They would replace it for free.
Yes, both the Rampage 360 and the Invader X4 shoot 360 fps. Thought that was really strange, because the 360 cost more than the X4, but both shoot the same. There is only a small cosmetic difference between the two. I think the 400 you got replaces the Invader X4 that I have. We are using the Rage 100 grain mechanical broadheads, but we are thinking that we may need to go to a fixed blade. We are using the TenPoint bolts that are recommended for the Wicked Ridge crossbows. I really like the scopes we have on our crossbows, I don't like red dot scopes or any scope that requires a battery, I like real crosshairs. Appreciate you watching and commenting. Juddie - J & J TOA
Just curious what something like that weighs? I'm getting older and don't have time to practice like I should with my compound. I've thought about buying a cross bow.
Hey a hunt comes before any videos bud!!! We have another 9 days and we will be joining you and a lot of others in those trees!! Glad you still got to see the review. Juddie - J & J TOA
That is what we do Greg, we keep it real. Appreciate you watching our videos. We won't hold being a Buckeye against you! LOL A person has to do what they have to do to find work and raise a family. Like my oldest son, he packed up his family and moved to NC. I hated that, but he had to do what he had to do. Thanks for watching and commenting. Juddie - J & J TOA
Shooting sticks are nice Jamie. I have a shooting stick that I have used for turkey hunting, never took it rifle hunting though. This bi-pod here that Jerod purchased is nice and especially setting in a blind, set your rifle up or crossbow or even shotgun and you don't have to hold it. Set back in your seat and when something comes in, just lean into it, aim and squeeze the trigger. Thanks for watching and commenting. Juddie - J & J TOA
When I was editing the video Steve, I noticed the shirt. Thought for sure that my video would be banned. LOL Thanks for watching and commenting. Juddie - J & J TOA
Michael, Jerod is strong and cocking that crossbow he makes look easy. Of course, he is about 25 years younger than me. Thanks for watching and commenting. Juddie
I bought me a crossbow in 2021 and I went out in 2021 the one bow season and killed my first bow kill with a bow it was a do in 2021 but my bow that I got is a Barnett gamecrusher and it is a good crossbow I looked at a TenPoint crossbow started to buy it but it was out of my price range and I have hunted with my crossbow for the last 2 years and I killed one day or last year in 2021 I shot at 1 in 2022 and missed it but I am not giving up I will kill more deer with my crossbow and I love my crossbow but your crossbow that looks like a nice crossbow to have
My first crossbow was the Barnett BCR recurve crossbow. I bought it in 2013 or 2014 and only hunted with it that one season. I had to hunt with a crossbow because of a torn rotator cuff and I couldn't pull my Bowtech Assassin back at all. After a year of therapy I was able to use the compound bow again. Since then it has just hung on the wall, then I bought the Wicked Ridge Invader X4 and Jerod, who had never owned a crossbow, bought this Wicked Ridge Rampage 360. I hunted a few days this past season with mine, just to be able to hunt with it. They are great to use in a blind! Thanks for watching and commenting. Juddie - J & J TOA
How did I miss this video?!?! I’m in the market for a reasonable and dependable crossbow! I just sold my Carbon Express Pyle Driver 390! I’m gonna have to take a closer look at the Wicked Ridge line! Thanks for sharing!
Well, Mike, I do have over 500 videos! LOL Jerod and I do like the Wicked Ridge brand and they seem to shoot really well. Jerod has the Rampage 360 and I have the Invader X4 and other than buying them off the "Reconditioned" rack at Cabelas they are great. We had an issue with Jerod's, and had to take it back to Cabelas, but they didn't have any issue with taking it back for repair. Then about a week later I had an issue with mine, then Cabelas gave me the run around. I called Wicked Ridge and talked with them. They informed me that they had a service center within about 15 miles of me and to take it there. I had no problem with the service. Jerod and I both learned a lesson thought, don't buy any bows off the "Reconditioned" rack at Cabelas. Thanks for watching and commenting. Juddie - J & J TOA
Hi Jerod! I was commenting on your dad’s video about how fast those suckers are! But they seem to be crazy quiet too! That is an insane and deadly combination!
Mike, I will be sure to let Jerod know to check out your comment. But, yes they are quiet, heck by the time you hear anything the arrow/bolt has hit the target!! You're right, a deadly combination.
