Thank you Mr Steve Fromholz for writing this soulful sweet honor to the cowboys! Now that's when men were men and they blazed the trail for all! Thank you!
I used to have the Gruen Texas cassette. On Jan. 6, 1994, I hit a patch of black ice while driving through northern Ohio. I went through a guardrail, flipped multiple times, and woke up upside down in a totally demolished car. I remember every nanosecond of the experience prior to being knocked unconscious as if it was filmed in my head, and this song happened to be playing at the time. I still love the song, but it feels weird for me to listen to again after so many years. It brings back the memory as clearly as if it happened last week.
Check out the original version of Man With the Big Hat by Frummox & the live version by the writer, Steve Fromholz, both also on RU-vid. Love Jerry Jeff but I always like to hear the writers' version of a song!
Thank you, I did and it's a touching song for sure! Thank you Mr Steve Fromholz for writing this soulful sweet honor to the cowboys! Now that's when men were men and they blazed the trail for all! Thank you! Reply
