The 26 people who have this a thumbs down are probably Florida Georgia Line fans. JJW and John Prine have left huge holes in my heart. Their music lives on ❤️
Sure miss this guy!!!!! Nice in looks, nice in singing, wonderful personality and everything going for him.... and so quickly gone! One other thing ....no.... three!! His singing, songwriting, yodeling !! What a guy!!! He was a Blessing and is truly missed!!!!😢😢Judy
I have to stop and listen to Jerry Jeff Walker every now and then. I have always loved his songs, especially when he the one singing them. I hope he is having a great time in heaven with all his friends, "Just Pissin' In The Wind"!
Jacky Jack Double Trouble has been in my life for over 50 years. Now I get teared up when I listen to him sing. I lost a truly good friend. May he and Old Black Jim rest in peace.
I was lucky enough to have had Jerry Jeff play for a couple of birthday parties in Montgomery plus a couple of nights at a bar called Crockmiers back in the 80’s. He was a pleasure to work with. Johnny Sullivan
I grew up with stuff like this, and Ian Tyson, Lefty Frizzell, and others, as well as traditional music from Britain, Ireland, France and America, and people wonder why I never bothered listening to popular music! I just reckon I learnt to enjoy the timeless stuff; why then bother with stuff that will be outdated in two weeks? This is the real deal - it'll never be out of date!
JERRY JEFF HAS BEEN MY HERO SINCE I MOVED TO HOUSTON AND STARTED ON A MUSICAL CAREER. I NEVER GET ENOUGH-NEVER. IT IS NOW 2012 AND I STILL CANT GET ENOUGH. THE DAYS OF JJW AND TOWNS VAN ZANDT MAY BE IN A DISTANCE BUT THEY SEEM LIKE AN HOUR AGO.
If my Memory services me right I do believe JJW Came to Gilley's in Pasadena,Tx in the early 80's.Anyone recall that?I worked there started in 1980's Worked till before it was shut down.1989?.
Camp Belize 2016 is about one week away and I can't wait to spend a week with my travel partner, JJW and all the fans, in a beautiful and warm climate!
It never was an official bonfire until JJW was on the turn table. That is when the lost Gonzo quartet ( plus or minus a few) would start howling/ Man, did we sound good!
I am seeing this video for the first time. I heard and saw JJW with WAR (Willis Alan Ramsey) and MM (Michael, later with Martin in the middle Murphy) in San Antonio, TX in Oct '73. This video was apparently shot in '93, just 20 short years later. And now eighteen more have flown. What must Jerry look like today? Ever the showman.
In the early 70's Jerry Jeff came into the Clarity Music Bar in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Playing that night was a performer named Johnnie Walker ,he was incredible , the guy could play any kind of music you could request .....JerryJeff had walked in and ordered a rum and coke and when Johnnie came off stage , Jerry Jeff introduced himself to Johnnie and before his next set JJW got up on the stage in that small Bat and told us he had a new song he was thinkin' about recording a guy named Michael Burton had wrote , he asked us to give a listen and what'd we think : it was going to be first time he ever sang Night Riders Lament in public , his words . Well it was a standing ovation at its end . Because of Johnnie we got Backstage passes , we were going anyways cause a friend from Virginia who was Gove' Scrivenor's Bass player and was now with Jimmy Buffet's Coral Reefer Band. Somehow he came and found me in New Orleans , Harry Daley was his name , great guy but had a illness that cut his career short. Jerry Jeff was the headliner back then , Buffet had not done Margaritaville as yet.
The Wizard of Rock and Roll Wow, nice. I do love his music. Have you heard Down in Belize? There is a scene where one of the people watching was looking at Jerry Jeff in total amazement.
Michael Cordova Funny you Mention album Down in Belize ,I went to Mexico in 80s then and went to Belize , I moved to Thailand in Jan.'88 ,wound up meeting a guy who was in Key Ambergris ,San Pedro at the same time I had been....It 'd be allot different 30 yrs. been gone by and after us Hippies and Backpackers go places , afterwards the money tourism picks up and so does building more expensive resorts
+The Wizard of Rock and Roll I did the same thing at the same time. 3 years on the road living out of my backpack in Mexico, Europe, southern US, Alaska. Good times my friend, good times. Mangos, coco locos, Italian gelato, pan bagnat, and margarita, hey she's my girl...
Michael Cordova I left Colorado ,Steamboat Springs , my ex-wife is a Nurse and Musician in Denver and I have been in Thailand since 1988. I use to sing with Your Fathers Mustache Band who play in Denver .! Old Friends ! I worked the YFM Clubs in NYC , NOLA and met the Denver guys @MardiGras in early 70s , where the JJW story came about too, but a year or so later !!
Amazing that I saw your comment. Thanks for the reminder of great times past...I also saw Jerry Jeff at Clarity that same night. He had performed at the old Municipal Auditorium and Roger Kinneman (Clarity's Manager) got him to sit in for a set. My date and I sat with my boots on the stage as he did his set a twofer that night . In July of '17 we drove up to see him at the Birchmere in the DC area...an amazing show. He has always followed his own path and he was as good as ever, rocked the house and threw in a couple encores.
