I deffinatly would stay up for this guy. He is the real macoy and not one big infomercial. Gerry was Toms choice and that meant he was worthy of the time. I loved it when Letterman called in from Vevay.
This is such a privledge to be able to view these programs. A real broadcaster is very close to being an educator. We follow and his programing and it is a course in study.
@@dongiller I could not feel dumber right now. Too many Lake Erie stories this week rattling around in my brain. Thanks for clarifying. I even wanted bagel/lox for lunch today but the place was too far out of the way
I love and miss Tom Snyder, but he could be an overly sensitive host sometimes. When Jerry did Tom’s signature bit at 13:04 to close out the segment (which I took as an homage that Jerry watched his show), Tom had to say something about it when they came back from break at 13:17, perhaps because he thought it was disrespectful for Jerry to take his signature line. Same with the comment about the traffic from Tiburon and the water towers bit, which was partly in fun, and no doubt partly to remind the producer Bruce McKay whose show it was. This is probably in part why he was never offered a better opportunity by the network, but also part of what made his show compelling TV. Warts, awkwardness, and all, he was a genuine fellow who said what was on his mind and always remembered and acknowledged his audience.
Do you have the one where Waylon Jennings walked off the show before his segment? Dr. Laura was the first guest. Been looking for that one for years. Keep up the great work!
Remember that incident around Fall of 95ish when Tom was in the news after panicking on a commercial airline during turbulence and yelling "WE'RE ALL GONNA' DIE!"? I was working the graveyard shift at an ABC affiliate and didn't get to watch his show when I was working, did he ever talk about that incident on his show?
@@dongiller I've been trying to find any mention of it... but it pre-dated the internet, so I can't find anything. From my memory, I heard about the incident from Don Imus in the Morning.... like I said, I was working graveyard shift (master control) so I don't even know if the incident even made the mainstream news. Oh well... I'll keep searching and see if I can find any mention of it. Thanks for posting Tom's vids!
Well, if Don Imus said it... ;) After I finish digitizing all of Dave's Late Nights, I'll get going on Tom's Late Late Shows, and then I should be able to track it down.
I thought he was confusing the show with Friends there regarding the big window, but no he's right, the first episode did have a big window in the apartment. But... Tom moved that caller along brilliantly.
Complaint department: I appreciate the effort people make to post these videos to RU-vid. But, I would really appreciate it, if the date the video was made was INCLUDED. I can see when it was posted, but I don't know the date it was made. DUH?
You're asking for information that RU-vid doesn't even allow its creators to include (because why WOULD creators care to specify when a video was made, vs. when it was posted?).
