I miss Robin Williams so much. I literally watched him since as long as I can remember. He is the only celebrity that I cried for when they passed. He is such a great man.
@@frogbones1968 Funny thing is, I'm a Brit. I chose it as a gaming name years ago. Only later did I realise there was a baseball player (Mets?) called Mookie in the 80s or 90s.
This clip is a great showcase for Jerry Seinfeld, Robin Williams and Billy Crystal, but does nothing to show why Jay Leno should be receiving the Mark Twain prize for humor.
Really? He always strikes me as a really poor Steve Martin. Steve allows you to figure out what the joke is. Jerry is hammering us over the head. Again. As always. Explaining it all, all the way through, leaving nothing for my own mind to do. Oh, he noticed that 'mail' & 'e-mail' aren't the same thing. Now he's explaining the differences. In detail. For those of us who didn't know? There's... a _need_ for this?
Oh my gosh Robin Williams... the man was literally TOO MUCH. So freaking hilarious. He could go a mile minute and then switch it off and be so dialed into drama and heartfelt depth. Anyway, fun speech by Jerry and oh yeah, congrats to Jay.
he was also a bi-polar, and he had difficulty managing it, a major factor in why he unfortunately committed suicide. As high as those highs were, the lows were just as far on the other end.
You want to know everything about Jay Leno? Watch this clip. Jerry Seinfeld came to honor Leno and so he joked about medicine and mail then he showed a clip to honor Robin Williams! He literally couldn't find anything good to say about Leno!
Branon Fontaine oh my god I can't stop laughing at "O'dicksuck"... seriously how did you think of that? Are you like a professional comedian or something? So smart, nice work Seinfeld!
Jerry can't pull off the ironic ego schtick (it should be about me, not the recipient) the way Steve Martin can---a world of difference--mainly because we know the ego thing is not ironic.
So the Mark Twain prize isn't about storytelling, it's about joke telling? Aren't jokes so much less sophisticated than stories. How does any comedian rate as a story teller. They don't...So with that knowledge intact I say they take all the awards given to comedians back and reissue them to storytellers that entertain with a humorous tone. And since it wouldn't be right to leave his line out (Milton Berle) Yeah, but he never did Vaudville.
Andy T Your question was beyond his point, dummy. A fallacy, if you will. See, Joe probably isn't even a comic-or, more certainly, a celebrity-let alone someone who gave the world more "happiness" than Leno, which has no bearing on the fact that he does not think Leno deserves to be honored for his comedic work. In all likelihood, Joe does believe that at least a handful of other comics deserve it, but not Leno. That's his point.
Andy T Thanks for the unnecessary rephrasing. Let me rephrase as well: Did I put out more music than Limp Bizket? No. Do I have to in order to think they suck? Also no. Ya get my drift now?

So, Seinfeld, Robin Williams and Billy Crystal, all at least a thousand times funnier than Leno.
Jay Leno was the worst fucking stand-up and late night host ever, with the exception of Carson Daly. David letterman was and STILL is the king of late night. Letterman was your favorite comedians favorite comedian. Do you know how Jay leno got the tonight show? He hid in a closet and listened to an nbc meeting about how they wanted letterman to replace Johnny and he threatened to sue them if they didn't give it to him. Leno sucks.
Michael Mccollum you could be right. I don't remember him referencing that specifically and I sure as heck don't know either of them personally. Seinfeld also holds Leno is super high regard. Leno isn't that funny to me, I'm just regurgitating what many comics have said about Leno.... like him or not.
Wasn't Jay Leno the one who Obama pushed out a tv network for cracking joke about him all the time? I remember that apparition of Billy Chrystal and Robin William; I found it totally out of place. They were promoting the movie they had made together.
so THIS is why he's never been on Conan's podcast 😭 btw WHERE THE ACTUAL F*CK IS CONAN'S MARK TWAIN????????????????? 🤷♂🤷♂🤷♂🤷♂🤷♂🤷♂🤷♂🤷♂🤷♂🤷♂ most f*cking ridiculous sh*t ever in American showbusiness fr fr
Jerry Seinfeld: Nice guy? Yes but a little too much Ego and arrogant towards interviewers and "unsuccesfull" people. Good vocabulary user? Yes, he has excellent way of describing, excellent way of talking and very, very rich vocabulary. Good director? Yes he had amazing skills of finding ideas together with Larry David that helped Seinfeld series to become the most successful comedy series. Good actor? No. As mentioned above, his ideas where the spark and routes for the series' successfuly foundation, BUT the ones who made acting so funny and made us REALLY lough were Jason Alexander ( Constanza ) and Michael Richards and don't forget Newman! Jerry from the other side was not that funny. Hilarious stand up Comedian? NO NO NO! Come on....has anyone really loughed hard with Jerry's act on the scene?? Maybe few but surely not the most! I mean the jokes are really clever on how to satirize the goofs of modern society and every day life, BUT..still they don't make you drop down from couch by loughing, not even loughing loudly. Only some raise of your cheek. He is a clever comedian not a really funny comedian. In contradictory with comedians like CK Louis, Richard Prior, Jim Carrey, Eddie Murphy who have produced real loughing. I believe that in Jerry's case, for most of the audience, happens the " enthousiasm of mass " phenomenon. Meaning that people see a famous star on the scene who is called as the best, and then too much enthousiasm comes which covers the true feelings and affects true reactions. And where there is mass it's more easy to behave the same way. I believe that most of them they even press themselves to lough loud at every of his joke. For me the old Jerry Seinfeld was a very loveable person and very relaxing on watching him in the episodes, but today's Jerry is more arrogant, narcissist and self esteemed than he should worth to be. Again this is my opinion.
Antonios Giannopapas jerry was the moral center of the show; the one the viewer had to relate to the most; that’s why George, Kramer, Elaine and Newman worked so well for the viewer. If Jerry had an equally distinguishable character, the show would not have worked that well. You can see it whenever Jerry get’s the funny story and one of his friends become the moral center for the viewer. The show was great because of the chemistry!!
It’s spelled “Pryor” and it’s spelled “enthusiasm. Seinfeld’s Stand Up is really funny and he’s a great comic. He isn’t well liked because he isn’t cute to look at and he’s comes across like an arrogant dick where as Larry David comes across arrogant but in a flawed way that makes people comfortable.
I’ve seen Seinfeld live and believe me no one in the room could breathe because he was so insanely funny. I left out out of that venue with a migraine from laughing so hard. So I think tv editing reduces the true intensity of his stand up compared to seeing him live.
Here you have two narcissistic comedians (Robin Williams and Billy Crystal)trying to compete for attention. Sad and embarrassing for them. This is usually the result when ever 2 or more comedies are on the same show.
Andy T Then I must have brilliant insight. lol. I just notice whenever I watch 2 or even 1 comedians on a talk show or where ever they are, they seem to need to be center of attraction. I think many comedians have had troubled pasts and comedy has been an escape from that and they have a hard time “pushing the off button”. Robin Williams is an example.
