Jerry Seinfeld owns the Porsche 917 driven by Steve McQueen in the movie Le Mans. He bought it in 2002 and still owns it. One of the other 917s used in Le Mans sold in 2017 for $14,080,000!

I was fortunate enough to own a 1956 356A Coupe for several years. Paid $1400 in 1972. Having owned many vintage VW’s prior, it was interesting to compare as both car lines shared a common heritage and designer. The 356 differed in many ways. The full syncro transaxle was stronger, as were the giant finned aluminum drum brakes. The 1600S engine had more displacement, a three piece crankcase, and much bigger valves in hemispherical heads, topped with twin Solex carburetors. It was rated at 75 hp Din vs 36 hp for the same year Beetle. Unlike the VW, the body did not unbolt from a floor pan. The torsion bar front and rear suspension was very similar, but different in specification. Both cars featured snap oversteer when lifting at the limit, but a lower CG and less camber changes on the Porsche allowed for faster speeds and more control. One soon learned not to lift off the throttle quickly when cornering near maximum, or you would soon be leaving the pavement backwards at speed. Both cars were light weight: the 356A 1800 lbs, the Type 1 Beetle 1675 lbs. The overall impression in the Porsche was that it most resembled being in the cockpit of a light aircraft combined with heretofore unseen build quality. The 1600S engine was loud, torquey, and very willing to rev far past the modest 5000 rpm tachometer redline. I saw 115 mph with that motor mostly stock except for an aftermarket exhaust system. Further mods including an 1850cc big bore kit raised that to 125 mph. A full race motor capable of 8500 rpm eventually pushed the car to above 140 mph. The light weight combined with great aerodynamics ( for the period) and a low CG were a winning combination.

Fun channel you got going here. There are a few Seinfeld cars I would add, but you did a pretty good job. One I would add is his unrestored Blue '58 Speedster with 99k on it that he had on with two other 356s with Leno on CNBC. His "one" car keeper.

Yep I would say theat your just scraping the surface there, he has plenty more 918’s, he has other 917’s particularly the Steve mcqueen one. I think there was also the last 993, which was a turbo cabriolet, one of two only made. Great clip though I’m a fan, he is a great comedian I’m a fan.. but when you hear him speak on spikes car radio about different cars and experiences they provide you get the sense that he only works to buy cars. He is one of a kind

Would just like to point out that at 8:30 you mention a 993 Cup RSR, the first picture is the correct car. The following two pictures are actually a 993 GT2. Some lovely cars in there all the same.

I met Jerry Seinfeld as a Valet Parker at the Palm Steak house in East Hampton New York in the early 2000s. He was of course driving a current model Porsche that was green…Good tipper also, he handed me 20.00…..

Some of the early Porsche look not very sexy. Doesn't make them less exclusive or worth less but with 70hp one could build a lawn mower with more power. Its all about experience with these cars.

I probably have more Porsches than Jerry, i have about 224 of them, they're just all Hot Wheels & Matchbox..lol He could have more than that to be fair if he even collects the diecasts a little bit, so maybe not.

Your presentation is very confusing. You give auction results as if Seinfeld sold them at the auction. If he sold them, then they are not in his collection. So, this video might better be titled, Porsches Seinfeld Owns or Owned. I don't think Jerry's 550 RS Spyder sold for more than $5M, because so far as I know, MY old Spyder sold at auction, in 2018 at Monterrey, for $5.5M (including buyer's commission) and that was the record high to date. (Sadly for me, I was not the seller; I sold it years ago for much less money.)
