A big special thank you once again to @70sFan for helping to uncover rare NBA footage. The film has been colorized from black and white, the frames have been corrected for natural flow and the clips were up-scaled to 4k.

An he scored over 25,000 Points with no 3Pointer an he has 9 finals appearances an get absolutely no love. West Robertson should be ahead of guys like Shaq because the NBA had a better more athletic Shaq which was Wilt. West an Robertson are Michael Jordan Goats for a reason. You put these 2 in any era an the outcome might exceed. They were very good for their time. Today they'd be in the same realm as LeBron KD Giannis Jokic Curry & Luka infact they might be better. Because West was knocking down long jumpers before Curry daddy was born. Another part of their games that I believe the NBA is hiding is how great a defender West & Robertson were. Especially West.

He was my first sports idol. I was a Jerry West fanatic. Definitely was a huge blow when he retired after a preseason game where he scored 35 points. At the age of 12 I couldnt understand why a guy would retire in the locker room after putting up 35. A long time has passed, and you rarely hear him mentioned when they talk about GOATs, but I was there, and he ranks. Chick Hearn once said "The only two guys that played better when they were angry was Jerry West and Michael Jordan"
@jingqi9106
@jingqi9106 Год назад
Jerry West was a 6'5" (shoes on like all rookies were measured from '73 on) guard that did so many things on the basketball court at a high level but it was his shooting that set him apart. No guard in NBA history has had a quicker pull up jumper or was as clutch with it. Mr Clutch has tried to teach modern players how to shoot the pull up jumper like he did but nobody has been able do it as well. I mean, Jerry was lethal with that shot. He could hit it going left or right and he would give a hard dribble and jump as the ball came off the floor, seemingly propelling him higher. Because it was so quick and Jerry had good hops, he didn't need much space to get it off and it was extremely accurate, especially when it mattered most. Jerry West's pull up jumper is one of the greatest signature shots in the history of the NBA. 💪👏

I am 78 years old and have loved and followed basketball since my family bought our first tv when I was 8-9 years of age. I have seen the greats including George Mikan, Tom Gola, Bob Cousy, Oscar Robertson, Wilt Chamberlain (was the greatest to have ever played basketball), etc, etc up to the present day. The players from the 50s through the 60s were great athletes equal to any we.have today but they didn’t have the benefits of years of modern coaching, training and medical improvements in treating and preventing injuries. If these players from the the period starting at childhood, had today’s education and training, imo they would excel today as much as they did when they played. Without RU-vid most people can never see what players from the past could do. It is a great resource to see much of modern world.

How is it that the quality of Jerry west footage is so much better than Wilt chamberlain's old film or even Larry Byrd's old films. WTH

This dude really decided to be Michael Jordan before Michael Jordan. Legitimately the best scorer of his era.

Most players in this era would barely make the g league even with modern training, west is not on one of them. Special talent

If the 3pt line was around when he played, I wonder who would've retired at the top? 👀

@@BoosterGoldEarth6 Have to go with Baylor as well. Folks still forget it was him and NOT West who literally saved the Lakers from complete financial ruin and brought them back to full relevance in the NBA at the time.

@@PeekaPeephim and Baylor are the most important, yeah. Baylor because of what you say and west because withouth him i doubt the Lakers can have the dame relevance in the 60-75(except foto Baylor and wilt) and after that in the 80 and 2000 he help with all the champions lol. Except for mikan and 2020 ring, west help with the other rings for Lakers. And Lakers hate him lol(not the fans)

To all curry fans - if the 3 Point line existed back then , jerry west would probably hold really hard 3 point records to break , including point records ... One of the most lethal shooters ever !!!

I don't know if I've seen a player that looked that confident on the pull up jump shot. Maybe Pete Maravich.

Projected data has Jerry West with a career average of 3.5 steals and 0.8 blocks. If he had a 3 point line aswell... Jerry is my no.1 guard.
