Today I thought I would bring you to the farm and give an update on our chicks. We are going to try and identify the Jersey Giant X chicks and introduce you to their parents. Also, see how the velociraptor meat birds freak out over food....

Nice video! I also have 5 jersey giant hens close to 4 months old and ordered 3 more hens and 3 rooster to go along with the 27 other hens I have all around 4 months at the time. Was wondering if you breed the jersey giant with the Cornish Cross with success? Thanks!

Currently we have not bread to the Cornish cross. But that would be good eats for sure. We love our giants and have successfully cross bread a few breeds with them and continue to experiment. So far our Jersey Americauna cross are less flightly but only time will tell. Thank you for watching and good luck with your gentle giants!

We have never attempted to breed Cornish x. We purchase our Cornish x from our local hatchery. However, we have been successful at breeding jersey x. Currently we have jersey x with cuckoo Moran, orphington, Americana (big beautiful bird...named marshmellow).... currently hatching jersey x Americana and jersey x Rhode island blue. Also more jerseys. Thanks for the question and for watching!

Hen... she lays large green eggs.

JG has low egg production and consumes more feed, I can't justify getting one.

They are definitely a slower growing bird and are on more of the average side of egg laying. Average of 250 eggs a year first year for breed. However we find they do not consume more than our other flock in feed. We give them plenty of scrap veggies and plenty of grass and bugs. We find what they lack in production they make up for in abundance with their gentleness and personality. Plus they are great in the roaster. Thank you for watching and commenting.

@@melissawareing5021 A Cornish can reach "weight" in 8 weeks, A Bresse can reach weight and fetch A premium at 16 weeks. Not trying to be rude............. But JGs are PETS. No different than owning A Silkie or Polish.

@@AKlover I'm in a place where i may or may not be able to get chicks commercially grown in the spring. You may not know it, but you are in the same situation as I am! All the government has to do is to "lock down" backyard flocks and you won't be getting your precious 8 week birds - instead did you also keep any meat birds that could reproduce? Oh, you didn't? OK well good luck finding food.

@@fordguyfordguy I have several egglayers, buying an incubator is not difficult or expensive. I also have the roo and hens necessary to make A couple varieties of sex links. Variations on the Road Island Red, they will make weight faster than JGs.............. and I get replacement hens too assuming I just source the roos for meat as is typical. I think you are going to find the problem down the road is getting layer feed given certain parties seem to be trying to destroy commercial farming.

@@melissawareing5021 I looked her up in a order catalog for chicks that I have and now I believe she's a black minorca. The breed book the order book says they lay large white eggs.

Us from around the world are interested in jersey giants, but unfortunately we don't see any stores that can ship internationally for jersey giant fertilized eggs. Currently I'm asking my mom's friend in midwest to ship it in malaysia, still waiting for a response. @@melissawareing5021
