Oh,oh my heart is in England . I went to England in 1963 for a year, fell in love ,stayed 6 years. Fell in love with a guy in first week there, we we were together foe 43 years living in Sydney. The Lord needed him and he went to God in 2016. I'm now 77 and live with my beautiful cats. Love is forever.xxxx John

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth left us to be with her family today, 08 September 2022. As long as her name is spoken, she remains with us. God save the Queen.
@Nick the chopper The nations in the new world are more in line with civic nationalism where they are defined by the citizenship they have while ethnic nationalism is what you described, and that is more common in the countries of the old world.
Tommyenergy. In WW2 the spearhead which led the liberation of Europe were six. Those leading forces were three American, two British and one Canadian. Don't worry. We remember you. Your soldiers were there with ours. Your pilots were in the Battle of Britain too. We remember all right. And not long ago a rebuilt Canadian Lancaster bomber flew with our British one- together again. Special greetings from the UK.
I'm watching this as an American, chill bumps over me, my eyes stinging. I love patriotism. To our friends "across the pond", be blessed, and know you are respected.
Its not just about admiring "their patriotism" but recognizing that their patriotism, their way of looking at life nurtured and created ours. The United States and its stubborn commitment to freedom doesn't exist without the Brits. Long live the anglosphere!
This was, and remains the finest rendition of the national anthem I've ever heard. I remember being moved by it at the time. I wonder if anyone else has also picked up on the fact that this performance was exactly 10 years to the day before Her Majesty's passing. GSTQ LLTK
Agreed it is the best version I have ever heard. We had a birthday party here in the US with a group of ex-pats and I played this video as we remembered the Queen. Everyone was moved to tears, including my American wife.

As a humble Englishman I'm happy to say I love the old Welsh National Anthem Cwm Rhonda ; though I think that's no longer the recognised anthem of Wales?
Just sitting here -- an American -- late at night, *weeping*, uncontrollably. They all stand up at once and sing, from memory, a hymn about working to turn their country into a New Jerusalem, a place where God -- His light and kindness and goodness -- dwells freely.
Samuel Barham Jerusalem is actually about the eighteen Missing years of Jesus. It is supposed to have been that Jesus came to the southern shores of England on a ship with his Uncle. Joseph of Arimathea who was a tin merchant! Hence the line -: "And dd those feet in ancient times walk on England's Mountains Green!" That start the hymn. Jesus then was supposed to have built a church at Glastonbury in Southern England. The town or village as it was then was called Avalon! So this is where the link to England and Jerusalem come into the equation. This is also why virtually every true English person k own this hymn off by heart. Please watch the link below which will explain the text above in greater detail ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HYbkT25iF2g.html
Callum The UK has only really been a secular nation for around a hundred years but the UK's origins are deeply rooted in Christianity albeit Catholic or protestant since the 1500s so your point is exactly?
Callum so your attitude is to keep looking forward and not look behind then! History has shown that those that do what your suggesting and ignore the past while blindly moving forwards get caught out by history. The wise person keeps one eye on the past and one eye on the future that way one is less likely to make the same mistake twice because they will see what's coming at them from all directions and know how to deal with it from experience!!!!
Too old , fat and knackered to wear HM's uniform ant more...but if any fucker threatens this island's traditions and values...not on my watch, not ever!

Paul Gray - "the greatest nation on earth" THE 'greatest' ? 'Greater' than Britain ITSELF ? I think not: let's content ourselves with ONE of the 'greatest', shall we ?
marvinc999 it is in my opinion. Had Britain not existed America would very likely have ended up like mexico. Imagine the implications to the world that would have involved. Had Britain been just a another off shore island a third of the world would not have been civilised. Australia would still be a stone age nation with just aborigines populating it. A lot of the great inventions and contributions to the world have come from Britain; directly or indirectly over the past two centuries. Britain is the true king of the world like the lion is the king of the jungle. In recent years it has declined by ineffective management which was caused by the British themselves on a gullt trip. Nobody has invaded Britain in a thousand years.. That's some record!!!
Many Americans comment here and feel emotional seeing this because despite our egos, we know our roots are with Britain. We left the Crown with a mix of anger and grief.
Henry V King of England and France Even though I admire that she and her hubby have been married for almost 73 years, I agree with you. I wish she would fire some people, despite the fact that a constitutional crisis would then follow. This country is being bled dry by so many abuses that our leadership seem to be doing nothing about. I don’t think she has a clue what life is like for those of us who don’t live the lifestyle that she leads. She’s surrounded by people who seem to be doing their best to stick two fingers up to the rest of us. I wish she’d see a post like this one, but that’ll never happen.

If Jesus did travel to England, at least your son was born in England’s green and pleasant land. May he be in peace with Jesus and share his story. God bless you and your blood.
Jerusalem is proof that true beauty of a nation is in its culture and people, not its government and politics. I am an Indian researcher and a doctoral student of eighteenth and nineteenth century British literature, and I get goosebumps whenever I listen to Jerusalem.
Alot of friendly banter between the British and Australians but without your support and the rest of the support from the commonwealth Britain simply wouldn't have existed during her darkest hour. 🇬🇧🇨🇦🇦🇺👍
A question to any non English/British or crown citizen who has a view on the the last night of the proms. @@Rose-wk8pe Did you know that the Angles and Saxons were actually germanic tribes before they set over to the British isles. Not many people know about that fact.
I'm a Yank, so I have little merit to make a statement. I'm sitting here, at this moment, bawling. The UK is at such a precipitous moment in her history both past and future. For as long as my lifetime, she has had the consistent service on one person who has served her peoples, guided her country through times good and bad, and loved her nation with more than all of her being. It is simply humbling to see that, amidst the chaos, and above the fray stands a nation in love with their sovereign. She is so very deserving of it, and her nation is so blessed to have her. May God continue to bless the United kingdom, and may God save, indeed, your Queen.
A minority among us want her gone, I am not one of them. In these ever darkening times, we need her now more than ever. She is a symbol of everything we are. I am proud of her. Thank you for your comment. It made me tear up.

Insperato62 Actually there was plenty of freedom in France before and after 1789. Blake was in with a crowd that the Prime Minister would target, and King & Constitution mobs would torment. Repression without a guillotine. Basically most of the English of that time were pretty sedate. And there are reasons beyond difficulty for why Blake was an obscure printer during his lifetime.

I understood their reasoning, and I must admit it wasn't the same without the promenaders. :( I agree though, the last segment with Jerusalem, Rule! Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory are the highlight. I get chills everytime. Perhaps we should look to have more signs of patriotism. I mean most people my age don't even know the world to god save the Queen, never mind the others. It's a shame, we should all know them and sing them like they do in other countries. But as you said we focus a lot more on the negatives of our history rather than celebrate the good. If you're gonna criticise then you should equally praise and vise versa.
