Jess was just perfect, they just met at the wrong time..he likes books, he put rory in track, he convinced her to go back to yale and much more. I wish he would have been the one all along for her
Jess had toxic issues. He was always horrible to her mom, and basically anyone who Rory cared about. People like that try to isolate women so they can control them. Not charming.
That's because Rory has abandonment issues from her father. She always has doubts that her boyfriends love her or she freaks out when the relationship becomes serious since her father was barely around throughout her childhood, coming and going when he felt like it. As a result, she fears this will happen in her relationships. We first see signs of this when she was afraid to express her feelings after Dean said "I love you". Then, we see this again with Jess when she starts doubting if he loves her because he is evasive with his feelings and he's not open about what he wants since he has his own abandonment issues as well. Even when Rory was with Logan, she questioned his feelings towards her because they were raised differently and he had never been in a serious relationship before so she feared he would grow bored of her and they would break up.
There are actually a lot of reasons why but I think her acknowledging how he felt for her would make her have to acknowledge what she felt for him and she didnt want to leave the safety of Dean.
@@lauriecarson6483 He genuinely loved her (unlike dean or logan where they argued over her like she was an object, or rather they loved the IDEA of her more.) He shared the same interests/hobbies. He had his faults as others did but he always did his best to put her needs in front of his. Extra brownie points for the “hates everyone but them” trope. Also every opportunity to make it up to her, to talk to her, he took. I think he always cared for/loved her the most. They were so similar, he also stayed loyal/was never interested in other women while they were together.
@@lauriecarson6483 Also just to add on, he literally came back in one of the later seasons to talk to rory. Way more mature, civil, he even tried to talk it out with logan. (ultimately you can’t wash out the blonde douchebag so rory had to break it up)He came back a better man to try to win her over again, has the best character development, and as always did it all for her.
@@aharrypotterhead3025 Hmm, oh wait let me think. They shared writing (he basically kept up with everything article she wrote) +they both went on to make books later. Shared taste in music. As well as in films (at times)Both loved literature and always had a book on hand.Both were fine in solitude (thinking introverts), and before they met each other i would say they even preferred it at times. In the revival of the show, i would say he was even too good for her. Putting jess aside for a second, while i don’t dislike dean or logan; i wouldn’t say they were ideal boyfriends either. If you’re disagreeing with me i think it’s safe to say you prefer one of these two. Dean was REALLY the boyfriend that shared no interests with rory. Maybe aside from the occasional movie, and while he was sweet and treated her to gifts; he had to know where she was at all times. Even if they were all possessive in some aspect, calling your girlfriend five times when you know she’s out of town is a little much. Now with logan, they might’ve shared writing (i’ll even add on reading) but he didn’t partake much interest in it, as he was forced to do it most/if not the rest of his life. He put himself, and others in danger all of the time during the life and death brigade. In the revival, he doesn’t even have a stable relationship with rory anymore. He married someone else, whether he wanted to or not he still cheated on his spouse and i think it was indecent that he never told her. Now returning to Jess, all he ever did was love rory the best he knew how to. Him hiding his situation to her was never out of malice. He never wanted her to worry or to be disappointed in him. During their relationship they had countless miscommunications, and you act as if all of it was intentional. He opened up his life to not only rory, but others even if he wasn’t comfortable doing so. He wasn’t perfect by any means but when he told her he loved her he meant it. None of those gestures were empty, and though his timing at the party was terrible. I don’t think he thought “hey let’s make rory feel bad”?? I just think he went up ALONE in that room for a reason, he needed clarity. Afterwards he knew he screwed up. He said so himself “you didn’t do anything”, after she left the room. Adding on, he didn’t even hit dean first. For rory’s sake he didn’t start anything until he LITERALLY got punched in the face. Dean was always hanging around. You paint rory in this angel light as if she was helpless. Most times she ran back to dean, and this is especially clear in the fifth season. From this relationship at least rory could learn from it, and find out who/what she wanted in a relationship. She had room to grow, and even with all of the tools provided to her she still turned out more immature than him. Don’t forget that he was the SOLE reason she went back to yale, not her boyfriend at the time logan. Jess. While it was naive of him to think they could run away and fix their problems, he loved her so much he was willing to try. When he arrived to california and met his dad, one of the things he said was that he had nothing. I loved their dynamic, but not so much the way it turned out. Their trajectory is bittersweet and i think thats what makes it the best relationship, as well as him, the best boyfriend. This may be a biased stance, but writing about a character you’ve researched so much will probably do that to you. Also if you’re going to pick an argument next time, don’t use run on sentences. It’s hard to read and too clumpy. Now that i’ve taken a good chunk out of my persona time i’d like to wrap up my points.

@@marisagonzalez1543 Dean took his anger out of Rory and got mad at her for no reason and was a red flag but Jess was never like that and yes he walks out a lot but he loved her and has the same interests and was just better
There were so many things wrong with Jess' life, but he never made it Rorys problem. He was the funniest and honestly most fine boy that Rory had. (Hence my pfp) He truly loves Rory, always making sure she does her best in life such as convincing her to get back into Yale. He loves her more than Dean or Logan ever could or ever did.

Dean was a great character in season 1. Once Jess was written into the story, the writers basically cannibalized Dean. And I'm saying this as someone who is firmly on Team Jess.
Honestly I hate how they didn’t end up together even tho he had his flaws he really knew her and somehow always found a way back to each other…kills me I wish there was a point of view where we saw them endgame 😭
he didn’t get pissed of because rory didn’t want to do it with him, he got pissed off that he couldn’t graduate and take rory to prom. he just took it out on rory
I hate the show creators for ruining this relationship. I HATE THEM. Even if they broke up due to reasonable circumstances, they couldve rebuilt it after they both matured. Why isnt there one show on this planet that shows a mature relationships which realistic ups and downs. WHY DOES EVERYBODY HAVE TO BREAK UP😭😭😭😭
Jess was the best match for rory cause he challenged her and didnt treat her like the stars hollow darling everyone insisted she was BUT he also had a lot of healing and growing to do. His family life was really turbulent. His parents were both immature and flighty so it makes sense that he ran away and abandoned rory as a teen. Unfortunately, that triggered Rory's abandonment trauma from her dad so i feel like that's why although she clearly still likes him, she'll never go back to him. Older Jess has grown up a lot and hopefully he can show rory that he's changed and won't run from her like he did back then
honestly, I think that they were perfect together. I mean, ofc Jess had issues but he became better for Rory and I'm soooooooo mad at the producers for not making them endgame because they pushed each other to become better people and that's rare in relationships
I have a question. How do males and females bond with each other? I don't see how men and women can bond (especially romantically) with each other. Men and women think very differently from each other. Women can build incredible friendships and become very close to each other in a way men can't bond, and science shows that women can bond very well with each other. Generally, women are even more social than men are. After something bad happens, a woman quickly rushes to talk to all of her female friends to get support, whereas a man can isolate himself and grief alone. Women tend to be more emotionally intelligent, more caring, more empathic, more compassionate, more affectionate, more loyal, more nurturing, more understanding, more sympathetic, more sensitive, more kind-hearted, more peaceful, more calmer, more gentle, more expressive, more intuitive, and more outward than men are, and thus bond more with other women in a special way that they can’t with men. Men, on the other hand, are not that emotional, and thus can’t bond with other men in a special way. Women are more comfortable being around with other women than they are with men. They have a type of bond that usually men with women won’t really have, or with men and men. Also, girls that are friends touch each other in ways that guys just don’t.
@@crystal3160 I heard that lesbian relationships are healthier because they understand each other. If both partners understand each other, they won’t want to break up with each other. I also heard that women have higher rates of depression when married (in straight relationships). There is a very small percent of women that are happy in heterosexual relationships. So it's very hard for men and women to bond with each other and have a strong bond with each other. Both men and women think differently, behave differently, react in a different way.
In college my wife and her girlfriends dubbed me Big Jess, due to a hot tub incident. My fav was when one of her sisters explained to a girl in a bar loudly, "Big because he has a massive... schlong!!"
I love jess, but I think he actually had a crush on Dean, so every time they talked about Rory and Dean's relationship, Jess wasn't jealous of Dean with Rory, he was Jealous of Rory with Dean. but you read Jealousy, so you misread where his jealousy was directed towards Rory and Jess got a long so great, because like with Paris, despite her flaws, intelligent conversation is always hard to come by
@@thegilmorevenue actually, I think Rory is actually Luke's kid, the moral of the show is that he is any way because he did the work and raised her, but I think he actually is, I think Lorelie and Luke met in Marthas vineyard , she got pregnant, and said it was Chris. that's why Luke freaked out every time he was around kids when he was younger (which is why April''s mom said she never told him), and they have a lot things in common. So technically they are cousins (I know it was an adjustment for me too) Rory just wrote it so everyone would think Jess was the love of her life because she recognizes that whoever she is with is kind of a prom King, and she wanted to recognize him as what should be the ideal man , or masculinity, and I think she takes inspiration from him in that. also there is an idea Lorelei sent Jess away so that the event would traumatize Rory, making the experience more memorable, so that why Rory would always have a "the one that got away" fixation on Jess , so she would always see him as a symbol of masculinity, but that just my suspicions , nice video though : )

@@thegilmorevenue Actually, in the Marthas vineyard episode, with Logan and the double date, Lorelei talks to Luke about how they frequented the same beach as a kid, they say they didn't know each other, but I think they were being coy, so as far as the time line goes, ya it is very possible they met then, and because Luke is so shy he never wanted to fully recognize her, and after awhile it would be awkward to, but maybe part of the reason he doted on her as if she were his daughter was because he thought he was, it wasn't Just Lorelei
