My thought exactly. I could see if the buyer was a dick head but if all they want is a specific colour I see that as no reason to turn down business unless you cannot get the colour.
No builder wants to build something they aren’t proud of. He’s not gonna build something and put his name on it if he hates it. It’s really not a hard concept to understand.
@American Nationalist he knows how the color yellow turns a hand fabricated custom piece of art into a loud disaster not one yellow chopper I've ever seen looks good it distracted people from all the beautiful work involved everywhere else and he didn't want his name on that..
Yellow is an ugly color. Like he said chicken. Banana is another one that would just get you nothing but laughed at. I for one can not stand the color as it reminds me of phlegm that i threw up when i was sick!
For the right kind of green I would paint it tuity fruity if they wanted it , never pass up the cash , but I am just a blue collar guy Guess if you already have plenty of green you can be pickey like that ,not me brother
Stallone should have agreed to have him build a bike and paint it what ever colour and then took it to be repainted somewhere else, then blew it up in one of his movies.

You have to take certain aspects of yourself seriously otherwise you're just a chump. Jesse has certain standards he lives by and he takes those very seriously. Trust me if you said to his face that he doesn't take his integrity and standards seriously he'd probably bust you right in the mouth.I know if you said it to me I'd level your ass.

I kinda see both sides but if you're an artist you just make stuff you like and if someone buys it great, if not then it's no big deal, you make it for yourself and what you get out of it. That's not what he does though, he talked in great detail of how he created the bike specifically for Shaq, going to great lengths to make sure it was right for him and his frame. So with that in mind, the "No yellow bikes, huh huh" sounds a bit dumb.
Yet that yellow machine was manufactured by someone else and doesn't carry James brand on it. Having a tool colored yellow is not the same as using yellow for aesthetics on a custom one of a kind bike.

For a guy that prides himself on being such a badass he sure uses the word "like" a lot. He sounds like a stereotype of a valley girl from the 80's. "Like totally".

@@houdinihir9549 I’m a business owner and although I can turn down work, I don’t feel I’m in a position of power because of it. Thousands of other people can do the work I do and at the end of the day paying customers will eventually get what they want whether it be with you or elsewhere.

Here i was thinking he turned Stallone down because of his views on guns and gun control. Seeing as how Jesse James has been into guns for a while and now is a gun manufacturer, and the hypocrisy of Stallone making his living off of movies featuring a lot of gun violence and then being extremely anti-gun, supporter of the brady bill, etc. But nope, he didn't sell him a bike cause Stallone wanted yellow...smh

I ask because Stallone does not have a speech impediment; he was born with half his face paralyzed. That's why he slurs his words. Hes also one of the most articulate and well spoken actors I've ever seen, which makes sense when you realize how many major blockbusters hes written. His IQ is also surprisingly high, something else you'll notice if you listen to him in long form interviews and not sound bites. Anyway, have a good one!

I kind of agree it is kind of pretentious and I can also understand the artist wants to bring his imagination to life. But I also think its about the customers response seeing how happy it makes them would motivate you so much not to mention the money. Maybe this guy is motivated to create what is in his imagination but he should also consider others idea's. He could learn new methods or resolve a problem he has not had previously had, a learning process that he could improve his art. There are many tones and uses of yellow an artist would make it work a professional will not consider the idea because it goes against his business model. He is just a professional artist.
Everyone should hope to one day own a business so successful you can turn down millionaire celebrity customers just because you don't like their taste.
