Your video got me bawling in the middle of a migraine... What people don't seem to understand is that it's a real illness, it's a disease that takes over our lives as migraineurs...it cripples us. I am fighting as hard as I can but the idea of living in constant pain sometimes just gets so unbearable.

I had my first migraine at age 14, I’m now 49. I hesitate so much when making plans, because I end up having to cancel them so often. Mine are almost exclusively on the left side, and you all probably know that extreme pain can cause vomiting, which I get with almost every migraine. I can lose 4-6 lbs per headache from vomiting and dehydration. I take imitrex and compazine, but if I catch the pain early enough, excedrin migraine meds can stop it, maybe 30% of the time. I also get “thunderclap migraines”; few weeks ago I was bringing laundry upstairs, and by the time I got upstairs, I fell to my knees in agony, I went from feeling totally fine to incredibly intense pain in 10 seconds. When people ask me how painful they are, I liken them to ice cream headaches, when you eat it too fast. I have a barf bucket in my car, just in case, and one by my bed. I can’t take any beta blockers for prevention because my systolic blood pressure is usually in the 90s, diastolic in the 60’s. I also tried topamax/topiramate, but had to stop that because that med killed my appetite almost completely, I can’t afford that, I’m 5’6”, 115-120 lbs, but got down to almost 100 lbs on that med. Years ago, 1992, a doctor put me on metoprolol 50 MB’s 2/day, my bp got so low I went into shock and spent 4 days in the hospital. One day, I did the math on how many migraines I get a month, then multiplied by 12 (a year). I was completely stunned when I realized I’ve spent about 6 full years, YEARS!, suffering. Hugs to my fellow migraineurs , I absolutely know your struggles.

I’ve had migraines for about 35 years now. They’ve progressively gotten worse and the doctors “think” they are worse because of my Lupus. I’ve tried everything- even gotten an occipital nerve stimulator, to no avail. Migraines and all of the oh so lovely symptoms like nausea, vomiting, photophobia that they bring with them just run my life! I’d love to join a support group like Jessica mentioned in the video, but I can’t look at a phone or computer screen for more than a few minutes. I wish everyone here who suffers from these monsters the best of luck at finding a treatment that works!

My life came to a screeching halt because of migraines. I lost my dream job, my career as a nurse. My life as I knew it changed completely. I was in no way prepared for this. I had no clue that migraines were so horrific and debilitating. Losing your life, as you know it, and having to learn to adapt to your new normal is so very hard. Nobody gets it unless they have been there. I've lost friends, independence, my career, a big part of me. Life threw me a big curveball and I now live for the moment. Such an amazing video. You did a wonderful job. I am so sorry that you've had to endure so much pain and adversity. I empathize with you and I love you so much! I love you more than butta and fire trucks!

I've been having migraines almost every day for the past year. It's been hard as hell, and there's a lot of guilt involved in the cycle. "What if I didn't eat this?" "What if I didn't do that?" I've come to understand recently that I need to be a bit kinder to myself. Migraines are genetic, and while there are triggers and we need to strive to make progress, we need to be kind to ourselves too and understand it's mostly not our fault.
@katec9893
@katec9893 2 года назад
I totally understand. I had been really hard on myself about my migraines, assuming it was because I'd been looking at screens top much or staying up too late. It turned out it was due to me eating dairy. When I cut it out the weekly migraines stopped. I've not got a migraine after 3 free weeks without one, I think it's probably a different food trigger so I'm going to do another food diary to see if I can identify it. It's v hard not to blame ourselves but it's an inherited, genetic condition and we need to be kind to ourselves as we manage it.

What an honest and real testimony of living with Migraine! Thank you! I lost a job because of Migraine and I quit my last day job because of Migraine. I have lived in poverty without much understanding or support because of Migraine! I've missed family gatherings, been in bed on Christmas day all day, throwing up and really sick because if migraine. I would like to extend hope and love to all my fellow Migraine warriors out there! Don't give up! I know this is a hellish nightmare sometimes to live like this, but please don't end your life 🧬 on the other side of pain, there is a story, there is life...I have lived through intense pain most of my life and misunderstanding. I run a graphic design company from home. Lately, I have a daily fight against self pity. Let's drink this cup, through sufferings, unto Glory! The joy of knowing you are not alone! The biggest problem with migraine for me is the cortical depression, blinding auras and the fatigue, it takes about 5 days to get over mine.🌄

I've had headaches all my life, with them progressively getting worse and becoming migraines starting in 3rd grade of elementary school. In high school I considered suicide because of them, I got some free counseling through the school and moved on with my life. In high school I was going home early once or twice a week because of how bad things were. I never knew there were others who struggled with suicide because of migraines too. I never knew there were migraine awareness groups out there either. A lot of people don't get migraines until they are adults and they talk about all they lost, but I never had what they lost to begin with so I can't relate to having once been able to do what they lost, I can only relate to the envy we all feel towards those who have never had migraines. A day without a migraine or headache is a day I am finally a "normal" person, I celebrate those rare days.
@nicholassherer8785
@nicholassherer8785 Год назад
Absolutely, I envy those that have no idea what a migraine is. Every night I go to sleep I’m praying that I don’t wake up with a migraine. Every single one I get I’m throwing up and dizzy. I can’t take them anymore. They just did a C.T scan and it came back normal but they want me to do a sleep study test next. I don’t know. Maybe they will find something. Be well

Balling my eyes out at this because I feel for the people suffering and lost to chronic migraines. I'm trying so hard to fight but when you're going on your 3 week of constant pain unable to leave your bed or stand any light is horrendous but to not know how long this one is going to last for when my last one lasted 6/7 months with 2/3 months recovery before going back to work is UNBEARABLE! I really do feel for anyone who suffers from any chronic illness!❤

Thank god I have a great & supportive husband that is always there to help me…..even though you still feel alone. I do get the Botox shots that have helped but not as much as I hoped. It used to anger me to see all the new meds coming out & none of them have helped but if they help some people…..I’m glad for them. I have 4 sisters & none of them have migraines. It wasn’t til years later, after speaking with one of my aunts that some of my cousins & as far back as my grandmother had migraines. It did make me feel a little less lost. I have developed anxiety & & times depression but I take it day by day. Wishing I would wake up one morning & be that person b4 my migraines but also being catholic, I do realize that things could be much worse. I take it day by day & am thankful for my support system. ❤️

I have between 8 and 15 attacks a month now and am trying to hold down my dream job and deal with sick parents at the same time. Somehow. The meds aren't really working. I am hoping for antibody therapy. I am trying to take it one day at a time. I have already lost support from people who I thought were my friends. And it hasn't even been a year! In a way that hurt worse than the migraines. This video helped. I know now that someone understands.

I had a major migraine last night, probably triggered by storm Dennis that absolutely destroyed parts of South Wales. I understand how immobilising migraines are. When I have them, I can’t do anything other than lay in a dark room, try to sip water and force myself to sleep. I often vomit quite violently during severe migraine attacks too. It’s torture, the worst pain I experience, it’s truly miserable and even after the migraine hits the aftermath is catastrophic to deal with. It feels like you’ve been smacked in the head by a baseball bat. I really feel for the lovely sweet lady in this video. Migraines really do ruin lives and I think people don’t realise the full impact on them. If someone said to be something like “give up (something you love) and you’ll never ever have migraines again”, without a second thought I’d take that deal.

I've had migraines since i was 13, and i just shy of 56 now. For almost 20 years they were manageable with meds(and he occasional trip to he ER). In my early 30s we had a very mi otr car accident, but they think some nerves in my shoulders and neck were damaged. Since then (25 years now), I have not gone 24 hours without a migraine. I lost my career, and with the addition of some other medical issues, I am completely disabled. My son and husband help me manage at home, and i only leave the house occasionally (in a wheelchair, because my balance is shot). I was suicidal about 15 years ago, but my family continues to convince me of my worth to them. Keep trying! I "KNOW" how hard it is.

I'm a migraine sufferer, they're a nightmare. I've just had to cancel a hospital app for another condition as I wouldn't be able to drive to the hospital or function in there with the bright lights and noise because I got a migraine yesterday and its still not gone. As well as the pain migraines tend to affect my spatial awareness, cognition and speech so I can't function well even when the pain has eased. A lot of others don't seem to understand, they just think it's a headache although I did have a very supportive manager once, she had a family member with migraines. I want to share with other sufferers that doing a food diary has so far been the most helpful thing for me. I worked out my worst triggers were gluten and dairy. I'm still getting migraines but not as much as I was. I'm going to continue my food diary to see if there's another trigger I've missed.

Pain relievers now help with them (they use to make me violently sick).

Jessica dear, I am a migraine sufferer since I am 5 years old.. today I am 62. Since the age of 45 it became chronic I had these migraine nearly everyday. Of course I take prophylactic medicines and triptans in case of migraine, and I must say that I regularly go way out of the prescribed dosage recommended. But lately after trying sooo many things( acupuncture, homeopathy, reiky, bach flowers, Feldenkreis, etc, etc, etc) I found a few things, mainly linked to food, that help me a lot. I still get migraines. But not as many, not as strong and debilitating, and sometimes they just disappear by themselves. How can I be in touch with you? Hug Tamar-Isabelle

Almost daily chronic migraines with me, just coming out of one now (I hope). If one more person suggests I go to the Dr I will explode. Seen dr’s, neurologists, had scans, sent to London migraine clinic by a Dr who just did not know what else to suggest. All they did there was two Daith piercings which did nothing and in fact seemed to increase the intensity. Tried keeping diary, cranial osteopathy, many other treatments, acupuncture etc. I’m 60 now and been getting them since 40 ish. They are ruining my life, I pray for a cure.

I wish more people could understand the difference between a headache and a migraine. If I happen to be talking about a migraine episode I had and someone hears that has never had one, they usually do not understand why you would have to call off work, or lay in the bed for hours in pain. They have no clue.

When i get migraines, they hit pretty fukn hard.. first come the auras which completely blind me, then the excruciating headache! I throw up only sometimes, but the only way i can stop them MOST of the time is by taking a nap. When the migraine is over i feel like it’s causing me brain damage and i feel out of reality. Im going to be contacting my Physician about Medical Marijuana because its a New Condition added to the “Conditions List”. To all the migrainers out there, may God Our Lord bless and watch over us all! I hope everything will get better for all of us who struggle with this bullshit. 🖤🙏🏼

I’ve been having a really hard time with migraines. They usually don’t even have a headache with it. Mine make me confused, they make it hard to see, and they make it difficult to speak. The migraine never completely goes away, I’m always ultra sensitive to light. I have to stay away from bright LEDs and flashing lights because they can trigger it to give me the worse confusion symptoms. I’m managing it somewhat now, but I still have tons of extremely bad days. My work has been cut in half. I’ve been stranded away from home for a year and a half because of covid travel restrictions. I have absolutely nothing for a social life other than video chats online with my girlfriend whom I haven’t seen the whole time I’ve been stranded. It really does seem hopeless at times. Living with a migraine that never completely goes away and being completely alone not even wanting to talk to anyone is a hard pill to swallow.

FOR ANYONE WHO CARES I CURED MY MIGRAINES!!!---->. (A little back story I have migraine from 5 years old and they would put me out for days. Vomiting, trouble speaking, shaking, all the good stuff. I tried everything magnesium, it help for a little while and then they came back. ) A Very long, 30 year, story short.... I stared taking wheatgrass juice every day.....and now I haven't had a migraine in years. The wheatgrass I take is all natural with nothing else in it and completely organic. Mine is in a powder form now, out of convenience, but I believe the only trick is getting it organic. And NO added crap. Good luck guys.

Migraines to me are the equivalent of my brain going into labour you just want the pain to stop but it doesn’t go away it just gets worse and persists. I’ve suffered with chronic migraines (3-4 days a week from the age of 6 till the age of 17) but I am nearing 30 now and 90% migraine free. I’m also epileptic and epilepsy medication finally levelled it out but I also used triptans for years along with strong painkillers and anti-emetics. Your body is honestly so exhausted after the brain storm of a migraine that’s why you feel so weak and fatigued for days afterwards.

I use beta blockers to prevent migraines and Sumatriptan to head them off when they come. The beta blockers work really well, but if your taking them, don't -for the love of all that is good- take less than you need on any particular day. @Myco_tripss on instagram I’m sure you mean well but copypasting this to all the migraine sufferers in the comments makes this seem not so heartfelt. It’s also wise to ask other migraine sufferers if they’re open to new treatment ideas before telling them about it because we can get tired of hearing it when we’re probably working things out ourselves. Plus shrooms are really a last resort that’s still being studied, though it wouldn’t be for me anyways due to other reasons. But thanks

Hi, I get the same look about me when I've got migraine. Since I was 7 it feels like either vagus related, I have chronic anxious feeling in my solar plexus where I can't get a deep enough breath. Also I think it could be oestrogen that gives me them, I was better on the contraceptive progesterone only implant. Or maybe ortho static hypertension which stops the blood vessels getting smaller. I always feel like I've got either too much water or not enough in my head, or too much blood in the veins. I've just had one for five days still got it but it's half as bad now. I considered suicide yesterday it was that bad but I've got grown up kids who need me end of. I hope you are ok xx

To anyone out There please make yoga a part of your life ( I know it takes some time but I promise you it will be worth it) My pain once lasted 12 days and it made me terribly weak that the doctor had to give me injections and that was exactly the day when I decided that I am never going to give up on improving myself and since then I have religiously done yoga and made lifestyle changes I mean I don’t know how much scientifically all these things are backed up but please anyone out there who is reading this completely abandon junk food, do yoga and try to have peaceful sleeping hours.

To all those suffering from migraines, Let me tell you an important thing, people forget that the food we eat has a lot in connection with migraines. Hyper acidity, GERD and other gut health issues have a direct connection with your migraines. My mother used to get migraines because of the hyperacidity in our stomach, she would get early morning around dawn and she used to puke a lot for hours. We always had to get her to an emergency room because her vomiting wouldn't just stop. It was so scary because I was a 7 year old child back then. But after doing a thorough research on her diet, she found out from internet sources that certain people cant digest plant based proteins when they have coffee. Its basically a gut issue because of which the caffeine restricts the digestion of protein in certain individuals which was triggering the hyperacidity and migraines. So she restricted coffee, changed her lifestyle, ate on time and got plenty of sleep. This way her migraines gradually vanished. So try to do a research on your diet, stress and work life and you will know the secret behind your migraines.

@@hoochygucci9432 you should watch your lifestyle, environmental changes and stress levels. High temperatures, humid weather, sometimes thunderstorms can make people get migraine headaches. It can be anything and I am not saying that drinking caffeine is bad, it depends on the person's food allergies and intolerance levels.
