God, as a DM, I have never thought about the chaos that could be sown with this spell until Jester started regularly preparing it. Now she's given my Bard the idea, and it hasn't stopped. Travis and Matt are right, it can literally hit DM and NPC out of fucking nowhere, and it's utterly fascinating what they prioritize. I don't think I've ever been thrown such insane curveballs in any campaign before this. It really throws you off your rhythm, because while tangents to places you had no way of expecting to want them to head for are reasonably common, at least then you can stall, maybe have a random encounter while you prepare. Not with this damned thing. The players don't even have to leave the rails to give me whiplash.

@@BR4IN1N4J4R Like insulting to two kings as each other and starting a war? Or annoying someone to sleep deprivation by taking turns with your party sending loud or creepy messages all night long?

@@internettevarolanadam is say just use dream for that second bit. But it is 5 level and deprives you of getting to hear the target get more and more desperate for THE VOICES TO BE QUIET it does have a couple of good benefits like doing actual damage and stopping casters from getting slots back

@@internettevarolanadam The spell says "The creature hears the message in its mind, *recognizes you as the sender if it knows you,* ..." So if the two kings know each other, then part of the magic of the spell would mean they know it's not from the other kind. Well, depending how you interpret that wording. If it's just by recognizing your (mental) voice, then there's room for impersonation with a deception check. But if there's magical caller-ID, then you'd need to do some additional magic to fake that, if the DM allows it.

The best part is that these aren't even fake calls, these are real calls she's making to people who have been sitting in her contacts list for months being forgotten. By everyone but Jester.

I love how this spell was demented into a means of Harassment of all the previous npc's the caster has met. Also Love that Matt acknowledges that the spell is in the wrong hands.
