---SPOILERS Ep 40 and 41-- Don't forget to love each other! Is it Thursday yet? Critical Role and Geek & Sundry own everything critrole.com / geekandsundry
Laura with travis is a whole as mood When she walks in after leaving her award thingy Dude lights up and turns into a teen asking his crush out all over again
I swear they have had like a million and a half cute moments over the course of the series. Obviously only looking from the outside here, but they seem like one of those couples who just have so much fun together and truly enjoy each other's company. It's really nice to see. It would be a great world if every relationship were like that.
Sam has done this other times too...I remember because Marisha always looks horrified...lol..I may have to find them. Or it also has the same vib as Beau being Traci and all the guys around the table seems Ng a girl just use flirtation so obviously. It's like "oh..oh no..I've seen that before" but relationship advice might have to be a video
I knoooowwwwww. You can see the panic in Sam's eyes when he thinks the whole thing is going to be revealed because Laura starts pointing out inconsistencies. Fortunately, it stays 'til later, and you can see him relax as she backs off. But yeah, knowing in retrospect about Veth/Yezza, this scene hurts DEEPLY at points.
Of course they did. She literally told them that she was acting as a surrogate mother for Caleb. So if you have someone who acts like the Mom for one person in the group why not someone else as well.
Shout outs to Sam, he’s really done an amazing job as Nott/Veth. He is the first of the cast to take on a character of the opposite gender and he’s done a great job from beginning to end bringing her to life in so many different ways.
@@TheEndKing "He is the first of the cast to take on a character of the opposite gender" even if it was a one-shot Liam still played a character of the opposite gender before.
@@Manamanoo No. When playing that one-shot, Liam was the cast member of that one-shot. Sam was the first cast member of the main Critical Role campaign.
Wooooow, didn’t make that connection. Sam really had notts backstory hammered out well and remembers it even in conversation with jester about something else entirely, and being able to call out to it without everyone else realizing. Freaking talent
My favorite part about this whole scene is that jester was planning to go to beau first. BEAU. Imagine if she went up to beau and said "have you ever kissed a boy?" I just feel like it would've been a totally different conversation
“Have you ever kissed a boy?” *Beau uncrosses her arms, then crosses them again in confusion and quirks a brow as if to say: “What about this vibe suggests I kiss boys?”*
Thanks a lot -- now all I want in the world is to see that exchange but instead I am doomed to live all the years of my life with the knowledge that my dream will never be realized. Sigh.
It's kind of sad when you realize Nott/Veth is lying twice to Jester. She is lying about not knowing who the person she kissed was and lying about how much her first kiss meant to her.
@@kaneo1 i mean think, if she said it was someone important, she would as "who?" And him not answering would raise waaay more red flags than she saying that she doesn't even remember who she kissed
The first time you watch this, it's Nott giving Jester comically bad romantic advice. Watching it again seeing Sam play the quiet melancholy of Nott remembering her first kiss with Yeza, it hits such a different tone.
Knowing that all of Top Table is totally in love with Jester, and that Caleb has been falling for her since episode *24,* seeing him freeze STOCK STILL when Fjord kisses Jester and then sorta backing off visibly is such a *chef kiss.* These nerdy-ass voice *actors* are ALL *Chef Kiss*
EthalaRide seriously, that’s why I’m surprised so many people were shocked by Liam declaring that Caleb was in love on Talks. Like that shit has been going on for a very long time, people! Well before Beau admitted you Nott how she felt, and this was back when Fjord was still not sure where what he felt.
@@willgame4coffee I am also shocked. Not as up on my critrole lore as I should be, do you mind linking to the Talks episode or giving me a rough estimation of which ep it is?
I've NEVER noticed Caleb's reaction, oh. My. GOD. I am actually floored. Liam man...! He's been playing the subtle long game for a LOOOOOOOOOONG TIME. Nice catch. But damn. I've never noticed.
Sam is the master of the long game. We can see hints of things in episode 41 (and even before that) which are still being brought to fruition when episode 100 is nearing.
I forget when is was, but suuuuuuper early in the campaign, Caleb takes Nott to a bathhouse and Sam says "Will you be the same Caleb when you come out?". Master if the long game for sure
Freaking Laura Bailey. She puts dust of deliciousness on everything she does. Just framing that scene like that, understanding how juicy that Roleplay is and picking just the right player to have that momentary lack of confidence with.
In hindsight, you can see Sam's masterful acting skills. The slight stammer on "I don't remember his name" is Sam subtly portraying that she is lying. And when asked if she still remembers how the kiss felt, the wistfulness he says he does and kind of seems to mind wander seems a bit too intense of feelings about a boy she no longer remembers, but more like a husband, she misses. Sam puts so much into these interactions because he knows so much more that although he's not ready to reveal it, he's still going to bring it to the character's actions.
another maybe unintended aspect of this is from their between the sheets interviews, travis was a bit cold and aloof in regards to the first time he and laura dated, taking a week to respond to texts etc
navataru I think it was in either of their between the sheets. Laura said that it wasn’t so much Travis being cold as them both not putting in the effort to meet up, call, etc
This was still eight episodes before Nott revealed the truth about herself. I gotta wonder if the other players even realized that Sam was deliberately playing her as apprehensive, or if they thought he was just stumbling through his improv.
@@cloudywinds3241 Excellent point. Alternatively I think he could be interpreted as a teeny tiny baby sparrow filled with wonder, each moment rediscovering the world of infinite possibility that lives within his song, leaping boldly into the vast and incomprehensibly bright unknown outfitted with only goofy fluffy baby feathers and zeal and wishing for nothing more than that to accompany him on the journey that is life. ...is what occurs to me just off the top of my head and definitely not having dedicated the last ten minutes of my mortal existence to finding words that might have some small chance of conveying the essence of this metaphor. Because I definitely did not do that.
Sam gives us an absolute masterclass of improv comedy timing, he fully knew what Jester's reaction was going to be to the absurd and very infatic suggestion of murdering fjord, so he was able to layer in the very calm and seemingly slightly insincere "Noo of course not... he's our friend." almost on top of her response really selling the whole thing, it is hard to respond to somebody in the midst of them responding to you, unless like Sam you can set it up.
Okay but can we bring attention to Travis changing his hat halfway through 😂 does he just have a collection of snapbacks under the table at all times??
Watching Nott/Veth saying that she doesn't remember who kissed her for the first time after learning everything about her made me tear up- damn sam plays his role so good
First off, always have shipped Fjord and Jester, and not becuase Travis and Laura are maried but their characters have always had great chemistry and i belived they fit toghther I liked Beau with Yasha tbh, ever since the first episode iv loved their interactions and its just so cute with Beau's brashness and Yasha awkwardness but damn if they both arnt hella strong Ngl, i used to Ship Caleb and Molly, back before the.... incident. Molly treated Caleb diffrent from anyone else and wpuld of been a great way to push Caleb out of his confortable, and Caleb would bring excitement and grounding to Molly's life But now I mostly see him Demisexual and not really seeing a ship i like with him, maybe later the others, well who knows yet xD i still have a way to go to get caught up lol
@@GrandTortuga Shadowgast would honestly be such a power couple. Imagine your incredible gay uncles except they're both ALL POWERFUL WIZARDS, and super whipped for each other.
Watching this live was incredible. They were ON. FIRE. Incredible acting, on display, live in front of my eyeballs, freaking out with chat, was a moment I'll always remember.
I have no idea what the context behind this was (other than that they were on a ship and they recently almost drowned), but it made me smile so much. Thank you for sharing 😁
Pre yezza :) the way nott/veth talks about her husband thinking she will never get to see him or hear from him or kiss him ever again and remembering a first kiss.. Man this game of imaginary with rules sure is fun
Watching Sam as Nott trying to brush off her first kiss, and knowing that it's the one she wound up marrying, you could see in Sam's face that Nott is clearly lying about it not being a big deal.
Me: plays a Tiefling warlock whose aunt is the owner of a brothel, and happens to be in a “we kissed, now what?” type of relationship with a Half-Orc. Me: discovers this. Me: Welp, I guess these things just go together.
Sam fucking Riegel, this clip actually brought a tear to my eye watching Nott talk about her first kiss, the subtle pain and longing, the way he navigates the lies his character is telling... Wow
