Honestly though, this is a perfectly valid argument, "I never thought I'd travel with a bunch of people I thought would die before!" Lolll

Matt checking the rules to see how the heck Beau came so prepared

I think he is more checking to see how a healer's kit works. Spoilers: it doesnt unless you have a feat. You can only stablize with it.

Lol I love the "Everything's coming up Jester" after this scene where they talk about how Beau spent more money than its worth because Jester changed all the price tags and then ends up with the kit FOR FREE! 🤣

Cool so now she can pick a different cantrip. Healers kit does the same thing as spare the dying does

Mechanically, the cleric is probably the last character that should have a healer's kit.

Cleric is one of the only 4 classes that offers Proficiency in the medicine skill, which is what the healing kit is used for.
@matt-thorn

@@Logan_Baron But it is also the character that is most likely to have other means of stabilizing or healing a creature. In other words, having a healer's kit is especially helpful if the cleric is down.
@hrodga

@@matt-thorn By that logic, every healer should have one; if the healer goes down, you can stabilize them with the kit they have on them.
@matt-thorn
@matt-thorn Год назад
@@hrodga That's exactly how it works in irl wars. Soldiers carry tourniquets, not for others but for themselves. If they get wounded any other soldier should be able to help them with what the wounded person has, and the one who is helping still has one for himself if needed. But in dnd a cleric can just healing magic or use a cantrip like spare the dying. Healing kits give this ability to those who can't do that.

@@matt-thorn The IFAK has more than just tourniquets, but yeah, I'm familiar with the concept. That's why I suggested it. Also, clerics (or other people with healing magic, hence the word healers) that go down aren't going to be casting ANY kind of spells, but if they have a kit on them, a party member could grab it and use it on them. It depends on the composition of the party and how the DM rules it, but to me, if you have a party of 10 with two healers.. say a cleric and a paladin.. it would make more sense to have 2 kits, one on each of the healers, rather than 8 kits, one for each non healer. If your DM allows it, it should just be a simple item interaction for a team member to use the kit, as everyone in the party would be aware of where the person carrying the kit keeps it, and so wouldn't have to search for it.
