Klaus Kinskis fearless and confrontational performance of "Jesus Christ Saviour"! (with english subtitles) Modified and subtitled by Nick W. Sinan Greger Website: www.mns-qs.org/
Kinski had worked on this script for 10 years with grandiose plans to bring it to a worldwide tour with hundreds of shows.. But the arrange/manager declared himself bankrupt after this one performance and brought this one-man show to a halt. I believe this was done right before the filming og Aguirre in Peru. Herzog said Kinski was still in "Jesus Christ Saviour" role which brought the filming of the movie to a nightmare. Culminating with Kinski firing 3 shots from a rifle into a tent where three movie staffvmembers was playing cards because he hated the noise..
One of the stunt men said that a man's finger was shot off. In a tent of 40+ people and just one being shot from a three round tantrum. That could have ended much worse for K.K.
wow! that's crazy. To me, this looks like it worked out EXACTLY the way it should have. It's so brilliant captures the essence of Christ, almost inadvertently, but I really wonder... the fact that it was so controversial and DESPISED,,, I think he is demonstrating to everyone exactly what the true message is, and their behavior is in full support of what he is saying. everything about it... just perfect. Really amazing the circumstances around this... amazing it lost so much money when it looks like it did exactly what it was supposed to do.. (hmmmm!!!) and Kinski, an imperfectly perfect person to be in the role... and they hate him so much for what they are seeing as his arrogance... (the man vs. the character... it's just too much..) the audience seems to have forgotten that he is playing a ROLE... wild stuff here!)
Whatever Kinski’s human shortcomings, this is a brilliant work of art, a diatribe against those who claim Christ but treat the lowly & powerless with an unchristian and unwarranted judgment. Not Kinski’s fault. When you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one that yelps is the one who was hit. Kinski hit several dogs hard. -Dan
It was an act and he is an actor, not official Church Jesus. Disassociate Klaus Kinski from his act, that was quite brilliant. Real Jesus Christ also faced such haters attacking and interrupting his sermons.
yes! and I believe Kinski was 100% sincere, beyond that, in trying to convey the message of Jesus... this screaming, frothing at the mouth, imperfect man... calling out their hypocrisy while drawing attention to his own... but he felt it completely, more than they ever could have maybe...
Absolutely. Did the ignoramuses think he was trying to be Jesus? What fools they are and I suppose they believe him to be Nosferatu as well. This was one of the most powerful things I've ever seen and it's just a pity a few idiots wanted to ruin it. He explains Jesus better than any minister, teacher or priest ever could but they are too stupid to understand.
I'm so conflicted about this clip. I enjoy when he gets angry. He is a master at anger like no one else. It's relieving to see and hear, and at the same time I find it so funny. And yet I get really sad that he didn't get to do this in peace. I'm amazed why someone would pay a ticket to any creative art expression and start to interrupting the artist. If you don't like it, just leave silently. So sad that he died so young. He may have had a great ego, but damn if it wasn't justified. He WAS epochal and monumental. (For those who get the reference)
Those were different days simply, different in terms of the worldwide political context. Fact is that today altogether it looks like altogether dramatized, like another crucification of the saviour. This testimony is of big value just with this attitude of the audience. It was made in that year to be present today and for all times. This is the ultimate "church" mess and Kinski new that. He was a genius and he spoke the truth. This was his legacy to the world. Imagine if he said his words with a public today. A public of people who are trained to consume and keep quiet. It would be a worthless document. But thank God we now have technology and can overcome time barriers. What is also true is, that people have evolved and are more educated. We live in great times now historically. Thanks for your comment.
the audience was not ready for this crude delivery of his ideas... he was a master at his art and understood people quite well. he was struggling with his own problems, but in the end, I believe that some people in this audience did not pay to see him, they paid to have the chance to talk against him. his art was so powerful, that it movitaved and activated people, I think he knew that very well.
Amazing moment when he made his last appearance. Thankfully those hecklers had left and those intrigued by the Word stayed behind. An enigmatic character indeed was Mr Kinski and quite the devoted and suffering artist he was.
but they couldn't... no one could aspire this... it's not aspired to.. that must be the essence of it.. because apparently kinski had not planned for this... so u can't plan this sort of thing...
Segal is nowhere near the level of talent of the other two. Kinski and Depardieu are terrible and deranged people, but talented in their art. Segal is a grifter
The story is that some in the crowd misunderstood, believing that he was claiming to be another messiah and began to shout and heckle him which then ignited his legendary temper. There's a clip on YT of an epic interview of him during his Jesus tour in which he becomes enraged by the interviewer, begins shouting at her and eventually walks off
@@KMN-bg3yu Right. He was obviously well known in the German media circuit for walking off interviews - it made for flamboyant theatre on anyone's talk show, and definitely improved the ratings, so interviewers goaded him - plus his copious cocaine use made that sort of behaviour easy. But I think in general so much of what he did was staged - he was an actor after all, and aiming for a desired dramatic effect, and it was also effective image management - Kinski as the unpredictable wild boy. In this case, and this is probably his most famous/infamous performance, I can't help but feel that many of the hecklers have been brought in by production just to heckle. The guy who walks on stage at the ten minute mark even looks like Werner Herzog - I don't think it is Herzog, but it makes you think. I'm not questioning Kinski's charisma, just that it is wrong I think to take this stage performance at face value.
It's only a couple of decades since WW2, the things being channelled in the room make it seem maybe pre-arranged, but I doubt it. Zeitgeist energy if you don't mind me putting it in a vague way.
Mesmerizing performance! Klaus is brilliant! The Bible accounts of Jesus don't tell us about his own affect when he was confrontational with his enemies. This dramatic performance broadened my view and challenged my propagandized and conditioned (i.e. trained by the church) ideas and my perception of what Jesus was really like during his time here on earth. This production is dramatic and very deep.
Why is everybody so worked up about this stage play. He is good. He was crazy, difficult, rude, excentric, sexual, but at least he was honest. So many actors portray a clean image but in person they are someone else. I could name a few
He was trying to deliver a sermon. Too many egomaniacs in the audience kept interrupting him, taking the mic from him, mocking him, they would not stfu, oblivious to His message. That's the kind of abuse Christ endured, which ironically is the point Klaus was trying to make.
This is pretty much a movie on its own, the conflict and logline are there: an egotistical thespian fights to get through his monologue during a sold out show amidst an angry crowd of hecklers.
I've only just become aware of Heir Kinski. Not sure if be actually believes all this or if he's immersed in a roll. Certainly he's a good actor but just as equally mad.
