Worldwide where there are issues, particularly in Africa, circumcision has reduced anxiety, health issues, HIV rates, etc and healthcare budgets ....reverting to the Lord's old ordained ways will make sure he is going to safeguard your health as an everlasting covenant between you and Him .. You abandon the practice and what you see is ill uncircumcised dicks by the dozens , the uncircumcised dick is in despair and always complaining how beautiful it is ..Watch the medical articles and videos on the advantages .. Why do the authorities not talk about how good the uncircumcised dick is ... because it is NOT .. You are left to complain and talk about banning etc .. rest assured it will never happen ..if American circumcision decreases, diseases will increase .....worldwide particularly in Africa the trend is more and more are getting circumcised . Europeans are also having slowly a change of heart and recommending the cut to avoid penile health issues. They liken the procedure to female genital mutilation. "We have no right as parents or as physicians or adults to strap them down and chop off a normal part of their body. Over the past 150 years, all kinds of medical benefits have been proposed as resulting from cutting off the foreskin, and they have all been disproven." Critics also question the safety of the procedure, saying too many boys are damaged for life by botched circumcisions. But many experts say the academy is making the right call. They dismiss any comparison to female genital mutilation as grossly misleading and say male circumcision is about as safe as any procedure could be. Some think the academy's position is long overdue, and that the group should have gone even further and more forcefully recommended circumcision. "I think that all healthy newborn babies should be circumcised," says Edgar Schoen, a professor emeritus at the University of California, San Francisco. "I feel about newborn circumcision the way I do about immunization: It's a potent preventive health procedure that gives you a health advantage." For its part, the pediatricians group hopes the new recommendations will encourage more parents to circumcise their sons - and more insurance plans to pay for it. The USA is a heterogeneous society. Some demographics tend to circumcise, others tend not to. The overall circ rate is influenced by the birth rates of these demographics. However, doing it to infant children who have no medical issues at all, just to conform to some misguided cultural tradition, or because you've been lead to believe it's somehow good for you, and started believing it (which is a massive cope btw, how would you even know, you only know what it's like to be cut), is absolutely not catholic. Catholicism replaced circumcision of the flesh with "circumcision of the spirit". Any good Catholic knows this, the mosaic law was abolished, the first church council literally ended this discussion 2000 years ago. There is no basis in Catholic tradition or dogma from which to defend infant circumcision. Not a single one. Now you may argue from a medical standpoint. You would still be wrong. But at least you wouldn't be spitting on the memory of the apostles and Saints of the church who fought against circumcision.

Circumcision is not necessary for salvation but that doesn't mean it has no purpose. If it didn't God wouldn't have commanded it in the Old Testament. Keep in mind God is the same in the old and new covenant. That being said, it's a choice. You can or cannot circumcise it won't be a problem in your child's walk with Jesus.

It's the child's choice. If someone wants to get circumcised they can do it as an adult. I know many men who are upset that their parents circumcised them at birth.

Every man should have a say in how his adult penis looks and functions. Ritual circumcision should be a free adult choice, made after the 21st birthday. The Torah applies only to Jews. Rabbis agree on a small number of commandments that apply to all humans. These are the Noahide laws, which nowhere mention circumcision. There are few observant liberal Jews outside of the USA, Canada and Israel. The Chief rabbis of Israel are Orthodox, one Ashkenazi, one Sephardi. God is often silent.

I have observed that there is no honest counting of the number of circumcisions that go rogue. Parents do not have the right to decide how the genitalia of their children should lookand function. I am a baby boomer from the midwest. Growing up, I was typically the only intact male in the locker room. American parents often circumcise their sons fearing that if they don't, their sons will be ridiculed in locker rooms and summer camp, and rejected by the women they try to date.

As someone who was circumcised as a baby this made me extremely sad. I don't blame your rational, as the cultural pressure in America can be extreme. Do I remember it being done to me? Thankfully no, as for all I know anesthetic wasn't used in mine. But when I learned about the procedure at 17 (I'm 22, so not that long ago), I was heartbroken. It was like having to read about ears to know what they are; sure you can still hear without ears and yes it would be a little easier to wash, but that’s not the point. I was lied to through omission. A whole part of my own external anatomy, not to mention a part of my most private area, was censored from my knowledge. It is not like an umbilical cord at all; 80% of men in the world have their foreskin and have few issues, unlike the 100-200+ American infants who die from circumcision annually in clinical settings alone. It is also worth noting that the debate is unfortunately expanding beyond boys. I don't get how getting it done by a Jewish rabbi is any better but just because he wasn't crying doesn't mean it wasn't traumatic for your son. Studies show that babies go into fight or freeze(since they can't go anywhere flight isn't an option) Fight is when they scream and cry. Freeze is when they go into traumatic shock because they can't deal with the pain. Similar to rape victims when they say they just froze and disassociate. Unless the rabbi used an anesthetic and waited the 30mins for it to go into effect then he definitely felt the pain.

@@KelliTanner I don’t know about rabbis, but it is shocking how often anesthetic is either insufficiently applied or not applied by doctors. It wasn’t until the late 1980’s and early 1990’s that anesthetic was used in infant circumcision at all, and even then it was with great controversy as it was ironically believed to have adverse effects on them at that age. Even today many doctors and ob/gyn’s don’t even administer it at all and solely rely upon sugar water and a pacifier as “pain relief,” which as you can imagine does literally nothing except muffle their cries.

I agree that American and Filipino circumcision have no religious motivation. But 2/3 of all circumcised men were cut because their parents were Muslims. An erection usually makes the foreskin vanish. Cut and uncut look very different only when both are flaccid. The rate in America is currently 50-60%, which is extremely high for most countries in the world (For instance the whole of Europe is around or less than 1%). But it hasn't been this low in the U.S. since the 1940's, so things are absolutely changing :)

Smegma doesn't form on circumcised penises so I don't get what you're trying to point out there. Women form smega as well and we have no problems cleaning because women don't get their foreskin circumcised. Of course you don't remember it the same way you don't remember your birth. Adult circumcision requires general anesthesia and therefore an anesthesiologist. Also, erections during the recuperation time can be quite painful. Otherwise adult circ is OK.

I believe if we are to follow Christ and be Christ like then we ought to do as the Apostles and Christ were doing. When Jesus was alive the new testament didn't exist.
